- Things are getting a lot bigger and scarier now in the higher difficulties! Two more designs are being added to our drone collection but we are far from done! This is part 3 of the mini series and the playlist link is below, hope you are all enjoying It so far! Utter blast to record even If It has been taking almost all of time the last week or so!!

Basic Rules:
- No Single SUPER Drone, lots of smaller drones for fun and insanity.
- Sandbox mode is allowed but heavily discouraged
- No damage from the mothership, this includes point defense style weapons e.g. missile interceptors
- No damage from the avatar
- Passive detection set to 0 (The AI gets no detection without detection blocks.) This may be set to 0.1 If the enemy AI has trouble finding us to start fights.
- No Capturing Intentionally

FTD is a series I would greatly enjoy continuing. Always a bright spot in my day.
My choice to watch the new Lathrix video instead of sleeping when it’s 2am seems completely rational to me. Thank you for the excuse to stay up even more ridiculously late. The videos are always a joy to watch

I know some of this is recorded before we see it but I feel like an interesting drone to do would be like an AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) style drone to supplement the others. It would just have a ton of detection systems and focus on feeding detection details to the other drones while sitting back out of the line of fire for in case other drones' detection systems get taken out.
Or also you can repurpose/add one of the little plasma copters to be a healer one instead. to support the drone fleet !
It could also make some smaller, limited lifetime drones that are very cheap and fly to the front lines to heal the other craft

The new ship looks like Metaknight's ship, with the little armored face at the front. I am now expecting to see bat wings.

I would love it if you explained in a bit more detail, how the drones are build. Maybe show us how the armor and components look like on the inside? There is a tool to show cuts through the craft. I feel it is much more engaging, if you see something hit a vehicle and you know why that spot is dangerous for the build. Anyway, I really love your videos!
Maybe you could add some drones that are purely defensive... Anti-missile lasers or something. That might allow you to have smoke on the main carrier. (no idea if that would mess with any of the drones)

He could put flak to deal with swarms, and repair tentacles for added support.

@@user-dn5lr6lp4k I'm not familiar with how he's got everything programed, nor the precise effects of smoke. I figured it was possible that if the main craft was relaying detection info to the drones, the smoke might cause problems. (laser communication?) I don't play the game, so I don't really know how all the interactions work!
@@jasonwrathorn9281 smoke doesn't affect detection, and the same goes for wireless transmitters. The only exeption is the laser rangefinder, but it shouldn't matter much
When you get finished with this, I think an orbital plasma death ray would be a fantastic idea, Maybe to keep with the death RAY idea, do a mix of lasers and plasma.
you know what, orbital cannon that shoots everything down: plasma, lasers, railguns, bombs, and,on particularly tanky and slow enemies, nukes. Now, the powre comes at a cost, so i would imagine it having 0 armor whatsoever, but this is orbital, nothing really targets it, right?
Lathrix; one who is tired of big missiles is tired of life. Don't worry about it.
(Being tired of EMP is a slightly different problem, but I don't think we're there yet.)

@@jasonhu6052Huge missiles giving birth to swarms of medium missiles giving birth to groups of tiny missiles and bomblets that spread nanites over the enemy that eat them up … or failing nanites, HE and frag are acceptable, too. Also … mixed in a few decoy missiles with flares and radar targets so the anti-missile defences go for them instead of the payloads.
Too bad you cannot fit some of the original mini-flyers into a huge missile as payload … especially if they are suicide drones, maybe all spike nose…

Also, I love the new osprey-like flyer, the black n' gold scheme looks amazing on it and tanky planes are a rarity which I really enjoy building myself

I would love to see a few small repair drones flying around from drone to drone to help keep them alive
Suggestion for the main craft, you mentioned that not a lot of the drones have anti-air or anti-swarm. I was thinking either adding (very) small anti-air guns to the main craft, which does technically break one of the rules so that may not be feasible. Or adding a second smaller deck to the sides of the craft and building those 10k fighters you were thinking about earlier, specializing in air superiority.
This new drone looks like a rhino almost, also will you make a no cut channel for your building and other content in games like this?
I personally love the challenge "no manual firing" brings to the adventure mode, feels like something you should do every run to add more danger!
Honestly, lets play content like this is so much easier for me to watch than hour long movies of full playthroughs, so I am in full support of you doing more lets play style content.
the fight at 22:50 with the music is so dramatic. Seeing the drones go in formation and everything. You always do such an amazing job of capturing footage from fights
Y'know, I've been watching your builds for several years now, and in all that time I've never doubted your design and building esthetic. You really shouldn't drag yourself down like that- you have created some truly distinctive craft; some derpy, some froggy, all very good looking and functioning well in the final result. Me? I build blocks that do things. Sometimes I change it up and add spiky bits to the blocks. They look like chunks of 2x4 with nails sticking out. And a jet or propeller.
More, please.
Latharix: "My designs always look so bizarre and/or bad." Builds designs with actual shape, form, and function that look creative and fitting.
Other FTD youtubers: Builds box with guns on it, suspended by jets/thrusters. "This is my godly design, it's a flying fortress or something." Literally just a box.
I know the youtube algorithm is punishing and frustrating, but i love these videos and hope you are able to keep making them for a very long time and that the algorithm will adapt

Lathrix always talks about how "weird" his designs are. Yet, I find them all to be just great.
For what it's worth, I really like the Lathrixian building style. It's chunky and industrial but still sleek and elegant in it's own way. I think it fits really well into how Lathrix leans into the Warhammer Chaos stuff sometimes. I hope he refines his current style to be even more striking and distinctive instead of making it more like the campaign designs.
3:35 Lathrix, currently ducts do not work prop blades, they are way worse because of it
I was under the impression they partially worked for them, giving reduced clearance but not the full block level? I can very easily be mistaken here though..
@@Lathland Apologies, you're right. Just tested it. They must have recently changed it.
Looks like each duct flatly reduces efficiency by 25%, so double duct takes twice as much power to keep it in the air.

Also 27:10 you can tell them to fire at the center of mass using an aimpoint selection AI card lol
Ngl kinda love that the copter thing (which as others have said, should be the bumblebee!) feels a bit like a distraction carnifex
Like its so big and spooky that it tends to just get targeted and everything else is fine to just attack freely, and if they ignore it to attack the other stuff, it wrecks face on its own!!

Lathrix, the FTD content creator that say as any artist, full on believing that their creations aren't great, while us plebs looks on in awe of their beauty and functionality.
Every time comparing themselves to those who have built creations in a cozy office environment with colleagues to bounce ideas off, while Lathrix does it with a strict time schedule, under attack and with limited resources...
Not only do they look good, but they're at a 1/10 the cost of the dev designs while they take and give punches well over their resource cost should indicate...
You do great designs Lathrix, there's absolutely no ifs or buts about it!

I love this challenge mode because it spreads your resources out into smaller craft which means the battle is much more dynamic with how you take damage. Previously fights were either easy victories or crushing defeats, but now you can loose several helicopters and a sub and feels much more tense while still winning.
Also I just love seeing all sorts of little designs, maybe next time a small melee drone, maybe with a nuke?

Would love to see you name the copter-thing the "Unsterblich" or immortal in german cause it gives the vibes of being some german WW2 flying tank whilst also living through being thrown around, slapped, tossed, yeeted, smashed, stabbed, bludgeoned, and so much more!
I love the chubby little Sea Vixen planes you made! but I think torps might be better on them as a secondary anti sub / boat option.

Seeing huge missles is something I desire to see, not sure who would get sick of the satisfaction of big BOOM but I certainly can't get enough.

Thanks for making this an episodic series, I personally really prefer this style of vid. Even as a long-time viewer, I only watch these episodic vids, (it's not just the algorithm), mainly because I can't find the time to watch the full playthroughs. Again, thanks for making shorter form content, and this is a series I wish to see continued.
I like this episodic style. It feels like you get to see more of what goes on and some of the smaller things can get focus as well.

I love seeing more Scarlet dawn craft in adventure mode, they have some really cool designs that you never see because of how long it takes to get to them in the standard campaign

I’m not sure if you’re naming things for this series, but I would love to see the helicopter thingy being called the Yellowjacket Gunship with the planes being called Wasps. If you end up making something bigger, the Hornet could be a fun name for it!

First off, I'm loving this series
Second, i think the copter/plane/vtol should be named the chimera. They are made of many different animal parts sticthed together and was said to be nearly unkillable, which the copter definitely is.

I got names for everything, Scarabs for the cannons, Sparrows for the planes, Goshawk for the "Heli", and Tuna for the Subs, With the carrier being called the Menagerie

CIWS/Anti-munitions laser on the carrier? Only for defense of course.
A gunship? I'm thinking something like the AC-130.
Attack boats? Swarm boats with distraction sticks, flares, and tiny cram cannons?
A single support vessel that can do combat healing?
