    467 cubic inch engine? Never heard of that one. Did you mean 500?

    With those white shoes and that pullover cardigan, the driver looks just like the kind of guy who would have driven a car like this back in the seventies. And that's a good thing.

    • @retroguy9494
      @retroguy9494 2 года назад +1

      Yep. Only back then he would NOT have been wearing jeans. Middle aged men like him who drove Cadillacs back then wore slacks. He also would not have the stubble on his face. Men either had beards or were clean shaven. No one looked like they just rolled out of bed back then!

      @@retroguy9494 Billy Joel, famous 1970s Cadillac driver and Blue Jeans enthusiast, would beg to differ. And have you seen what people wore in the 1970s? I think you are just a little bit mixing up the early 20th century with the late.

      @@WSNO Billy Joel was ONE man out of the THOUSANDS who drove Cadillac back then. In addition, he was a musician; an artist. Also, he was only in his 20's back then and not middle aged. It was rare to see someone under 40 driving a Cadillac in the 1970's. I speak of the majority.
      Yes, I saw what people wore in the '70's since I grew up in them! And I can assure you that most middle aged professional men did NOT dress in jeans, tee shirts, sweat shirts and sneakers back then. I remember when my aunt and uncle (who drove a white Cadillac Eldorado) took me to see my first New York Jets football game as they were season ticket holders. That was in 1975. People actually dressed when they went to games in those days. I remember my uncle wore wool slacks, a thick cashmere sweater and his dress leather jacket with fur lining. My aunt was in a pants suit. Most other adults were dressed similar. Today, they all dress like they just stepped off an 8 hour shift on a garbage truck and the women are worse than the men.
      Finally, I am NOT confused with the early part of the 20th century. Had I been speaking of that time period, men would have worn sack suits with a detachable collar and necktie and most likely a waistcoat. And they would have of course worn a hat like a bowler or homburg.

    The late 60s-early 70s models had the 472 cu. in. engine, then the 1975-1976 models had the 500 cu. in. engine! It was the largest engine that GM offered at that time and as I understand it, it wasn't the most fuel efficient! But to own and have the privilege to drive one of these beauties, I wouldn't mind too much if I had to pay a little extra for gas!

    I own the almost identical twin to this car....I intercepted it on its way to become a demolition derby car. 76 d'elegance in blue. I feel like this dude did a video driving my car! So very thankful that my derby friends called me to see if I wanted to buy some "parts"😁

    The indicators on the tops of the front fenders work with "fiber optics". They do not have bulbs in them. Maybe the fiber optic cables are loose or not connected to the actual headlight, high beams, or turn signals. If you look in the rearview mirror, you will notice that you can see the unit that is mounted on the top of the rear window. This one monitors the rear tail lights and brake lights.
    This is an easy fix. Start by checking to see if the fiber optic cables are attached, loose, or even missing.

      True in everything you said. I started laughing my ass off when he said bulb or fuse! LMAO! These dudes want top dollar more than they're worth for these cars and yet, they don't even know how the features work. Notice he never mentioned if the air conditioning works or blows cold? I see a $2K repair on the horizon for whoever bought that!

    Would love to have that beauty, Rare one with the DeElegance option, , We had a 1970 Hardtop Sedan DeVille in that Blue shade , that I drove to school back in 1978 !!!, Hard to believe the car was 8 years old at the time, but it drove like a new car !!!

    The are no fuses or bulbs in the indicators on the front fenders. It's glass fiber wired. And, up to 76 it's only the 500 cub inch avaliable. 74 was the last year for the 472! I think you must know that when got this presentation, excuse for bad English.... I'm not sure, if I describe correct.. From Germany

    All Full sized 1976 Cadillacs have a 500 CID V8. Only the Seville had a 350 V8.

    One of the best Cadillacs ever ruined it for six large people half dozen bodies in the trunk, 6600 pounds of land yacht an acre of sheet metal in front of you mean in the hood of course best ride ever 3 1/4 ton vehicle amazing not a lot of horsepower 190 to be exact but tons of torque to move that thing. This is what Cadillac was and should be !

      True to form for typical Cadillac driver in the 70s, no one buckled up. As a teenager in the mid 70s I was that rare kid that wore both the lap and shoulder belts in my 1970 Buick Electra that was passed down from my grandfather. I am sure that I was the first person to wear the seat belts in that car.
