Wow! Your suggestions are genius. Again, thank you so much. I'm a beginner weaver who's disabled, so having easier methods to help me further enjoy this wonderful craft is a boon.
Hope it helps! That was my first video, so some of the raw edges are now worked out (including my close-up, lol). Have been on sabbatical, but more to come in a couple months.
Oh my goodness. I love this!!!! Excellent idea and excellent presentation. I hope you have more videos. I am a new weaver, and this is so clear. Thank you!!
Thanks for the tips it was really helpful. Can I suggest though that you might want to add one or two other camera angles in your demonstration because I noticed that when you were tieing the front of the project your hands and arms kept blocking what you were trying to show us. It would also make the demonstration a little more interesting. However overall I found this really informative and enjoyable as I am a new weaver. Thanks again for the tips.
Point well taken. Honing the skills and equipment for my self filmed projects in the 2 years since this was produced. Note the camera shake. No longer use the webcam that made for that flaw. Now working on getting someone to do the filming...
Good Eye! Yes. On occasion, when the fabric is showing bumps from the knots in front that show on my fell line, I pack a paper towel core over those knots to eliminate. This is usually just with lighter weight or stretchier fabrics.
It's still ok to pull the header out line by line if you prefer, but more hassle. You can do this! Just be sure your bottom scissor blade pokes upward, out of the fabric to insure that only weft sits on the blade. Cut weft one pick at a time if unsure. I have used this with the tightest of headers, had to operate on pure faith that I'm not cutting warp, and it works! P.s. if you get distracted away from the advice and cut a warp thread, don't invest too much worry. It won't unravel as it is not much different than any other trimmed tail at the edge and is easily hidden by the fringed edge.
This method is specifically for tying fringe. It's better than cutting from the loom and trying to tie with the piece flopping around. With hemstitch you can just cut it from the loom without any extra bother. Hemstitch holds well when the fringe is no less than 1/2". To eliminate fringe altogether, I like to weave a footer of scrap yarn (like a header but at the end). This secures the weaving while you cut it from the loom and take it to a sewing machine for 2 rows of zigzag stitch. Then you can cut close to stitching...My 3 fave methods to finish. Hope that is helpful.
I work primarily with the 15" Schacht Cricket rigid heddle loom. Availability would depend upon your location. If not available from a yarn dealer near you, do a google search for choices and you will find a variety of sites like Amazon and yarn.com with a broad shipping range.
Hi Irma. I think you are asking about getting started with warping and weaving? One of my favorite videos for beginning is located at ruclips.net/video/otYt5C4snuU/видео.html. If you want a complete, project based, beginner class, I have an online course that can be purchased at weavingwithpoffstudio.com.

Wonderfully informative to a newbie. I was so focused on the “how to get started” that I didn’t even think about the “how to stop”…..😋😋😋
Thanks and welcome to weaving!
Wow! All I can say is WOW! Thank you! Looking for more of your videos! ❤️

what do you use on the front beam? Is it a papertowel cardboard roll?

Fantastic
This is terrific but cutting the header threads? OMG, if I do this, I know it will end badly.

That's funny!!! I was thinking the same thing😲😲😲😞😞😁😁😁😁
Do you hemstitch your work? Will this work well without hemstitching?
