I love Bubble Bobble, It's one of the best games that i ever played in all my life. I renember when i played it with my mom and my brother, good and old times...
This port is spot on, and can also be played in English in a hidden option menu (via the Ving code, which you used, and also works for Elevator Action Returns to unlock the original, and in Liquid Kids to play it in English). In there, if you can read Japanese, is a language option, play as either default Japanese Bubble Symphony, US Bubble Symphony, or the European Bubble Bobble II. I'm lucky to have this, and it's perfect companion piece, Liquid Kids, for my Saturn (I also have BS on Taito Memories PS2, and LK on US Legends and Japanese Memories PS2 compilations, I have both US and all 4 Japanese ones). For years I thought the item drops in this and Bubble Bobble, as well as Rainbow Islands, Parasol Stars, and Bubble Memories, were random. Turns out EVERYTHING in this game works by hidden offscreen counters, like steps taken, jumps taken, bubbles busted. 1 crediting this game on real hardware is also extremely hard to do. I've never ever done it. Can't even 1 credit Parasol Stars but have beaten the true boss on a number of occasions. The Rainbow Necklace and beating the boss of same world is key, it leads to a 99 continue coin inside a silver door, or an orange ball that instakills the last boss's first form.
This game is my drug, it is addictive as hell, the whole series is, right down to the Gameboy titles too. There was a time I wasn't high on Bubble Memories, since I felt it was a step back from Symphony, but the more I played it in MAME, then on my PS2, the more it grew on me. Beautiful game in it's own rights, and shares the Bub/Bob sprite with the Puzzle Bobble games as both use Taito F3 hardware, just like this game here.

How do you make sure to find the key (or the crystal ball that reveals it) in a world? And is there no save or level select feature?
