NINTENDO SWITCH NEEDS TO DO SEGA SATURN I WOULD LOVE TO PAY FOR THE EXPANSION PACK WITH IT LIKE THEY DID WITH SEGA GENESIS AND SHIT SO COULD YOU DO THAT?(Underrated game Nostalgia hits hard)lol!😆
I would LOVE to be able to play these games again. I loved them. It was because I played virtua fighter 2 all the time that I dominated the game in the arcades. I loved this game, as well.
haha, 1995 in ways felt like the begining of the end. Video games were still great but pop culture gradually went down the gutter at about 96 imo. mid to late 80's and early 90s were unbeatable by comparison. ;) As for Clockwork Knight. It's disheartening to see just how much it's aged including others like Virtua Fighter, Panzer Dragoon and just really any 3D saturn game. That's the 32-bit 3D generation for ya i guess.
You serious?! Toy Story looked and played better than Clockwork Knight? From what I've seen, the SNES version comes pretty close to CK's looks and appearance, but I wonder if Clockwork Knight's any harder than Toy Story?
vgaoct91 Toy Story is much harder imo. And for as good as it looked on SNES, I never thought it could hold a candle to this. There's so much color everywhere in CK, the animation is way smoother, and the 3D stuff gave the screen a lot of depth. Toy Story was cool, but I'd take this any day over it.
Thank you so much for playing this! I remember as a kid playing this, having no real idea what I was doing, I just remember the knight and toys and the music! My god the music! What a nostalgic time bomb!
Ah, fellow Saturn kid growing up. It was so hard to talk games with people who had no idea what the fuck you were talking about, lmao. They either had a Playstation or a Genesis. Saturn got me so much exposure to great games, though. I played my first Command and Conquer game on a Saturn-- Virtua Fighter, Daytona USA, In the Hunt, Robotica, Panzer Dragoon, Sega Rally, Bug!, Policenauts. And of course, this old gem. Great times.
I’ve been looking for this game for so long. I remember I used to watch a cousin of mine play this game back in my childhood and it was only one time. So that what the game’s called. “Clockwork Knight”. I had no idea it was a SEGA game.
I recall average reviews at the time and criticisms that the game would have been better as a bundled "showcase" title than a stand-alone and I can see why, given how incredibly short it is - I can really believe that Sega wanted it finished quickly for the Saturn's launch in Japan, back in late 1994, leading to this literal half of a game. That said, while not completely graciously the visuals have aged surprisingly well, even the FMVs - not using realistic characters helped. The setting also predates Toy Story by over a year. Was I the knight, however, I'd have rather gone for the dark-skinned singer doll :p
Davide Mascolo Davide Mascolo Ah, how exotic. She's quite sultry ;p Yeah this was made a good year before the movie Toy Story was released, though I'd bet money that they took inspiration from the original Pixar short film Tin Toy. It looks way too similar in many ways to be coincidental, minus the terrifying baby thank God. Have you seen it? It's creepy, but hot damn is it amazing for a 1988 production.
Funny enough, when I played as a kid, it didn't seem short at all. Maybe it was because there weren't so many games to choose from, but I remember playing this game every day for a long time
Fastest time it ever took me to finish this game was just under 20 minutes. I was that good at it. Mind you Clockwork Knight 2 was a bit more difficult
Played this game once at my friends house when i was a kid. We could never beat the first stage! 😂 and i never forgot it. Wish they’d make more games like this! Even though its short, its so full of life and vibrant!
Santo Tan There was a CK2! There were a couple of other planned games that were cancelled though. I think one was meant for Saturn, and the other for the GameCube.
@@NintendoComplete Oh dang, I remember hearing about Clockwork Knight 3 on Saturn and Gamecube before.....I'm sad to this day that it never happened, I really love this series. (I have the first game but I still need to get the second one, hope to find it soon! )
Oh wow. I got the SEGAROCKS Vol 2 CD for Christmas in 2004 and never knew where one of the tracks was from. It's the ending to this! Really neat... never knew too much about it until now.
Bought this game with Daytona and worldwide soccer at launch. May of '95 when the system, one controller and virtua fighter pack-in was $399. This game was and still is excellent! Alex, did you get a saturn when it launched? Or did you hold out for the ps1 ;)
+Isaac Lee I didn't, it was awhile before I had one. The instant I heard Final Fantasy VII was PS1 exclusive, I wasn't interested in anything else for awhile. The PS1 with FF7 was actually what my parents got me for me 15th birthday iirc :)
Just finished this today. A bit rough around the edges (I'm sorry but *fuck* double tapping to run in a game like this) but all in all I can see it's charm and I'm glad I picked it as my first saturn game to try out. Also, I was genuinely shocked that there was an end game tally for points that considered lives and coins. I never thought I'd see such a thing again after sonic 1 8 bit.
I have a question...who plays the games? Is it one person or do you have a team that tackles multiples? I ask because if we're talking about one person...they are very good. I'm an exceptional player myself that has beaten games from the 3rd generation all the way through the 9th. I'm good but I don't know if I'm as good as whoever does these playthroughs.
Nice, but isn't there a sequel to this game? I recall seeing a short article about one in a gaming magazine long ago and this one certainly ends on a cliffhanger.
Ian Stuckey There is. Apparently the development team was told it needed to be finished yesterday (as Sega corporate was famous for) so this wasn't actually finished. The sequel was apparently a flesh out second half of what was intended to be the full game. I don't know how true that is, but it would make sense since between them there's about two hours of game played straight through.
@@NintendoComplete in Japan they made a compilation disc of 1 and 2 onto one disc like its supposed to, and had some added bonuses. It was called "Clockwork Knight: Pepperouchu No Fukubukuro". I just ordered a complete copy on ebay waiting for it to arrive 😀
I remember watching someone lets play this game and his friend was very nitpicky about it saying how because DKC came out a year before and on weaker hardware made this game seem dull and unimpressive and you should stick with Mario and Sonic. Like what a dumb reason to hate on a game. I kinda lost respect for him after that.
Yeah, that seems kind of dumb. Especially considering that this game's graphics are quite a bit better than DKC's. Even if they weren't though, it's a good game, and a good looking one for its time no matter the system.
Okay okay I’ve been digging around for a year there was a game similar to this but it 3D based and for the life of me I cant remember the name of the game or what console it was on.
This game had the original Keyblade.
Clockwork Knight IS Sora, confirmed!
One of the most underrated Sega franchises of all time. I had so much fun with this game and its sequel.
Me too

Maybe if there had been dozens of levels and the music wasn't hot garbage...
Takes me back. I first played this when I got the Sega Saturn for Christmas.....way back in 1995
I was a Saturn Boy, myself! This, Virtua Fighter, Nights: Into Dreams and the CRIMINALLY underrated Panzer Dragoon Series were my childhood.
I would LOVE to be able to play these games again. I loved them.

Same story same year bro lol what a time to be alive
Clockwork Knight is an absolutely adorable platformer, and was a really nice showpiece for the Saturn's 2D capabilities back when it launched in 1995.
NintendoComplete
Back in the day they said that toy story (for the snes and genesis) looked and played better than this
Invidente7 I seem to remember that :) I've gotta say I prefer this one, though

My older brother sent me this video and I've just been transported back to childhood. This. Was. My. Shit.
God, the nostalgia, I've never passed the second level but this still soo good
I remember playing this inside, of all places, a science museum in Atlanta Georgia back in the day.
The soundtrack is still wonderful to listen to.
omg I'm bout to cry it's remind me of my childhood😢😭😊

I remember my FRIEND in Oklahoma brought this(HAD)Well brought and i just sat and watch him play it and had some cheat codes to it.(and)Beat it.
pretty sweet dude, this game honestly is the only reason I haven't killed myself

Proof that this video game should be called The Toy Prologue.
I remember my brother making fun of this game his friend brought over. It was storming real bad and a small part of our house roof caved in upstairs.
Great memory
I like to call this The Toy Prologue.
Wait...this was real!!!
Watching this video make me realize I played this SO MUCH. I remember every detail! Even some routes OP is not taking
I love this game, and I would always ask my aunt if I could play it when I came to visit. I finally beat it one year, and now I would love to own it.

HOLY SHIT! Keyblades before Kingdom Hearts!
I own both - I need to get playthroughs of these going!
The graphics blew my mind back in the day. An underrated gem.
I miss the 90s….
Those legs in the vent scare me and I haven’t heard Princess Chelsea’s voice in forever this brings back good memories from when I was a kid
We have this game to thank for the GTA series apparently since Rockstar used it as a basis for how the top down perspective in GTA 1 and 2 would work.
I miss games like this nothing like it now the nostalgia is real
I love the jazzy blues esque ending song. Kind a bummed there were no sequel, this would have been a great addition for a Sega All Star.
