- It's been nearly three months since we ran our Rhino Ag TS10 Flex-Wing Rotary Cutter. If you recall, our John Deere 4720 overheated, so we shut it down and ended up finishing that field with a few different mower types and tractors. But the 4720 is back and we think it's ready for the challenge. And it does get a challenge because of the time of year we cut!

I keep a leaf lower handy when brushhogging. The battery powered ones sure make it nice

Before I retired I spent a lot of time towing a Batwing. Though, never one so small. They are really great at doing the job they were designed for.

My 4720 has always temp gauge has always ran in the higher green area, I talked to Deere about it and they said it was normal, never had a issue at 1,000 hours on the tractor, I did have the hot engine light flash a couple of times on my mowing since it was new in 2009, what I found is you have to open the hood and keep the area between the Cooler and the radiator blown out, just cleaning the grill isn’t good enough, I use a leaf blower out in the field but also have the narrow air and water wand for cleaning the rad out at the shop
And the a/c condenser which eventually require the roof to be removed to properly clean it out.

Before you commit to the kubota check the compatibility with the batwing mower. Tractor time with Tim has some great videos with his kubota and batwing mower you may want to check out.
I should be fine. Might try out a TS12 in the spring anyways. Good call though!
We run a Bushwacker 144 12' batwing on an 2020 M7060 and there's no compatibility issues. TTWT issues likely come from him trying to run a big batwing on a small compact tractor. Kubota didn't build that little tractor for big mowers. When you get into big utility tractors, those issues go away. It's always cool to see Tim test the limits of the little tractors though!

When I did any field work like what you’ve been doing I would take along a handheld gas blower to clean out the radiator or anything else that needed cleaning. And that Batwing mower did a nice job considering you didn’t go back over everything two or more times.

I'm glad you put the time down because I'm always curious about it. I think these larger implements do a great job when taking straight passes but lose some efficiency when cornering and cleaning the last little strips of brush. It would be interesting to see how long it would take with a large but more traditional rotary cutter where its tighter turning radius would almost certainly be quicker as the area you're cutting gets smaller and smaller with each pass.

Wonderful! That would have taken multiple hours with a 6 foot rotary cutter and going faster than 2.5 mph would have been challenging. A 10 or 12 foot wide batwing or flex wing rotary cutter is definitely the way to go with a large frame compact utility tractor. But oh! The price!
A leaf blower is a great way to clean out the grill and radiator

The batwing did a really good job and seems to follow the contours of the land great. For 1/4 or so the price, wouldn't most folks be better served with say a 7 foot traditional single spindle style mower?

Good morning. A battery powered blower or a gas backpack blower can assist in blowing off build up.

This time of year (dry season, my area of Hawaii) I only have to brush hog once every 7-10 days… rather than 2-3 times a week
I own a MX6000 and enjoy it....but not a 10 ft batwing yet

NOT SURE ABOUT YOUR MOVING SPEED, BUT LONG TERM FAST MOWING BEATS UP THE MOWER, AND OR THE TRACTOR... MOWING SHOULD BE DONE IN THE 3.5 MPH OR SLOWER IN ROUGH FIELDS..

Some of these batwing mower costs as much as my L2501. I wonder why implements are so expensive? There's less material, engineering, less moving parts. Obviously, Courtney isnt going to be retiring off selling these, so the manufacturer must have one hell of a mark up and there must be a lot of money to be made.
Like the comment below, I keep a battery operated leaf blower available to clean up my LX3310 when I doing anything dusty. If you have a decent blower, even works on stone dust, too.
Now rake it up and bale it sell it for bedding

crazy....waiting till the end of the year to mow....you just released millions of weed seeds to haunt someone else....mow early before weeds go to seed....a farmers responsibility
If this is the last run with the 4720… then how about replacing it with a 5 series. Maybe a 5055e for somewhat similar horsepower range but in bigger frame to handle those larger attachments a lot easier.
I have a 50100e love it. It pulls a 15 ft rhino no problem
I agree. I had a JD 5100E. Sweet tractor. No buddy seat though. Nice looking and performing tractor. Ran a JD MX10 cutter on back of it

You do a really nice job on your videos. They are well scripted, well read, the music is enjoyable and not irritating. Nice work on that field. I'm going to start reopening my old fields in the spring after I decide on a flail mower or brush hog and just found another abandoned truck while I was deer hunting, now up to two trucks, a car and an old international bulldozer. It will be a big job for my little tractors to get it out but I'm looking forward to trying lol

Looks like you need to level your mower. You will get a cleaner cut. Adjust the front up and let the rear down more.

Looks like the 4720s issues are resolved. Yeah the seed and crap build up on the grill won't help. M4D bota interesting... I've finally had the chance to put a decent amount of hours on my 4066R well impressed with it. It's ploughed disced tilled, planted sprayed spreed hilled loadered Mown and graded. Loving the electronic 3pt and the ehydro seriously thinking of getting rid of two of the older specialized tractors and getting another cabbed 4066r and a Rops 4066r
Before you dump the 4720, check to be sure you can get the batwing behind that Kubota safely. TTWT has a couple videos about putting it behind his LX3310 and the issues. Check them out and then check the Kubota before you make any rash decisions. As always Courtney, I enjoy the content you put out.

For all the seed and dust, get yourself a cordless yard blower and it will clean it all off with minimal effort and its good for dusting out the cab too. Using your hands is actually more likely to work it into the dust screen and just gets you dirty.
I know it also sets my hay fever off.

You will love the M4D-071 if you get one! Never having to use your feet to clutch between shifting gears and the hydraulic shuttle on the steering column make it a gear drive utility tractor that can still be fun and easy enough to do loader work with. Great units!

It looks to me like you’re only moving with about two thirds of the width of that bat-wing mower. I noticed that last August, too. Were you trying to limit the workload on the 4720?

I'm overlapping about 12" at most.
I carry a battery powered leaf blower on my tractor it sure makes fast work cleaning off the grill and mower deck. I’d love to find a 2020 Kubota with that low hours, but with out the Prices they are going for now.
