Shoes matter so much. I don’t see it modeled or talked about much across fashion channels actually, it seems to be the last item displayed and described when it comes to styling. Thank you! I particularly love slides for summertime, it’s an elevated style to the flip flop. I always look for real leather uppers AND insoles for my summer shoes (preferably all shoes too). It makes a world of difference with foot odor issues and durability, of course!
It's actually incredible how transformative a shoe can be - definitely one of the reasons why I seem to have hoarded so many pairs over the year. And absolutely agree. I have wide feet and a bunion too, so leather is generally my personal preference from a comfort perspective too. Hope you're having a great week! x

I was on the fence about the gucci loafers and ended up getting a similar pair from massimo dutti instead. I'm glad I went with a nice dupe this time. To me loafers must be something you throw on and go, not a precious pair.
Yes absolutely. I do wonder if I got a dark brown shoe polish whether that might relieve some of the apprehension I feel about wearing them - while it won't stop scratches and marks, it'll help conceal them.. could be a way to encourage me to get them out! x
@mademoiselle we used colored shoe polish regularly at home when I was a kid. Then for some reason I didn't keep that habit to maintain my own collection but it worked well back then.

I prefer to buy shoes from brands that focus solely on shoes. Generally you can tell the craftsmanship, quality and comfort are better

I love the Sam Edelman Loafers and the Vanelli pumps (I've bought both based on your effortless style videos, and I have no regrets about either). I have loved and appreciated Sam Edelman shoes for years after finding a pair of low booties at a thrift shop which turned out to be my perfect go-to shoe. I searched for ages for another pair when they were reaching the end of their life. I'm currently on the hunt for a flat (actually flat, not low heel) chelsea boot, and a great wear with everything last a long time ballet flat, so I put myself on the waiting list for my size with the Oliver Cabell ballet flats (looks like the black is no longer available directly from their site, but I'll keep looking around other places).
I'm so thrilled to hear you love both those pieces as much as I do. Flat black boots - that you love the look of - are hard to come by. I feel like I really had a struggle trying to find some I liked. I am happy I ended up buying the Porte & Paire ones, but I realise with the knitted section these might not be appropriate for everyone, plus they do have that chunky sole. I have a smooth leather pair from Everlane which are really nice too which might be worth having a look at (they may even be on sale, actually!).
And that is a bummer about the Oliver Cabell flats. I've worn mine SO much that I was thinking recently I'll have to eventually get a replacement because with the ups and downs of the pandemic here, I haven't felt that comfortable going to a cobbler to get them repaired (and I think now, they're far beyond that. I've worn them SO much for all my long walks). Hope you manage to get your hands on some though, they're incredibly comfortable! xx
Hi! About the brown loafers... why not look into getting them professionally dyed black? Dyeing leather shoes, especially going a darker shade, is a good option. It has the added benefit of covering up the scuffs or marks. 😁

Thank you so much for watching! Ah, yes, I KNEW I'd forgotten a couple pairs - I didn't grab everything off the shelf as I was trying to narrow it down to ones I could share a proper review of. The RMs are brilliant. Would recommend. Very comfortable, despite having a wider foot. I found they fit true to size, I actually also ordered the size up just to see. I'm an AU9 and got the 9 and they're a perfect fit. Style I have is the Millicent. My sister has the classic Chelsea boot style and she loves them. Leather is thick and durable but not too stiff that it won't give. Only thing is that the sole is a little slippy. Hope that helps! x

The kitty charlotte Olympia shoes always remind me of you❤️❤️❤️ I remember I had a dupe for them from my trip to Turkey but sadly the quickly got ruined .. or maybe I didn’t know how to care for suede back then 🧐 they are a beautiful design so unfortunate we can’t find them now . They are quirky but subtle at the same time and that’s what make them great I guess
I love that! You know, if you look pre loved you can generally find pairs in great condition for under $200 USD. Personally I think worth it; my first pair I had to have worn more than 400 times xx

Are the Gucci and Todd Loafers comfortable for all day wear? Also, are they breathable enough to be worn without socks in your experience?
I find that the Gucci ones are the more comfortable of the two. The Tods ones have lots of support with the thick sole etc but the leather is stiffer so if you don't have a narrow to regular width foot you'll feel some discomfort. The Gucci ones are SO comfortable. No blisters :)

i don't feel too good about buying luxury designer shoes. IMO ultimately even those shoes will get scuffed, worn, and accidentally rained on. I prefer mid tier designers like Stuart Weitzman, who makes good quality shoes that won't totally ruin your bank. I love your collection tho
I think that's probably part of the reason why I'm so happy to buy many of my designer shoes pre-loved or lightly used. They're easy enough to disinfect when they arrive, and I feel a lot less precious about them. But I agree, that no matter how much you spend on shoes, they're going to show the signs of wear and tear. Just the nature of that particular "clothing" item! Thanks so much for watching xx

Just finished all the editing and book design, and the book is finally out to the advance readers! Whew! What are your thoughts on Bared shoes?
I have a couple pairs but haven't worn them extensively (which was why I chose not to include them here). Overall, well made, very comfortable too. I'm actually planning to buy a pair to wear for my sisters wedding as I like the fact that they give you additional support in the footbed - as a bridesmaid comfort will be king as I feel like there's going to be a bit of standing haha! x

Haha well, I'll be the first to admit I definitely have too many shoes! As mentioned, shoes are one of my weaknesses and often I let myself indulge - everyone has their thing :) Hopefully though in sharing my experiences with these shoes, it'll be useful for anyone thinking of buying said style, particularly the pairs which are more of a splurge x
