    You never ever need to add oil with ground beef. I only eat 97/3 and it sears perfect on med high heat.

      you dont even need to do it for higher fat meats. as it cooks, it is going to release it's own fat.

    Olive oil is not meant to be heated at those temperatures, it’s better to use beef tallow or coconut oil

    The spaces between let the moisture out.
    That allows the meat to brown.
    If it sticks, it means it's browning and will taste sweet.
    If it goes black it will be bitter.
    Leave it covered off the heat for five or ten minutes to allow it to unstick.

      ​@throwaway3873The meat which sticks is where all the flavour is but don't let it go black because it is bitter when black.
      The brownness is what sweetens it.
      If it sticks leave it covered on low heat or off the heat and it should unstick

    Trick is also to not use too much fat. As you can see the first side browns really good, but the other side will not have that due to the amount liquids in the pan. Now the other side will boil in stead of seer

      @@MrMinecrafter720 Too much oil on a lower temp (what you can see here) makes your beef boil in stead of fry. There already is soo much fat in beef so what you are saying is not true.

    Olive oil is not a cooking oil for browning, you would want to use avocado or ghee because of the much higher smoke points of each

      True, if you’re cooking in a restaurant. At home cooks can definitely get away with browning in Olive Oil. Not extra Virgin. Just olive oil. Avocado is also a great choice. Much healthier also

      You can use a light or extra light olive oil, much higher smoke point than EVOO.

      Olive oil smoke point is 470°F. Avocado oil is 480°F. The 10°F delta is nothing.

    This isn’t a hamburger patty. If you need ground beef for a recipe, cook until barely pink. If you use this method it will surely dry out and will have a mealy texture

    Do I add my seasonings before or after it’s browned? Serious question I always ask myself. I add my seasonings while it’s still red. Of course you don’t add any seasoning, so I’m not expecting an answer.

      I lightly season my ground beef while raw and before I put it in the pot to include a couple drops of ketchup and boy do we almost bite our fingers while eating bcuz it’s so flavorful😋🤤

    my whole life i been buying the highest lean beef possible thinking that fat was just an unwanted byproduct. I recently learned that 27% fat beef is sooo delicious im never buying anything else. (one day they didnt have the 27% fat stuff so i bought the publix brand beef that said 25% fat 75% lean and it was super weird because it cooked dry without leaving ANY grease in the pan. The good one was called "ground chuck" is that why it was so different and tasty?

    Ground beef has its own oil inside of it. U dont ever use oil for ground beef.

      You still need oil to get a good browning on the meat, the heat transfer properties and liquid nature of oil allow it to facilitate this process.
