The dismal performance of the ANC in KZN has been caused by two deterrent factors, namely the narrowly perceived nationalism and the ultra traditional authoritarianism. The advocates of these factors are in the most former leaders of the ANC who have fallout with the Movement because of their deliquency. These former leaders have exploited the opportunity of diverting the sizeable proportion of voters from the just course of the ANC.
