I've def been screwed over in Quiplash by someone giving the same answer as me, like a synonym, and for some reason people vibe more with the synonym than what I gave.
For future reviews u might want to mention the Easter eggs, Like in Quiplash XL there is a prompt that asks the most boring videogame, if u answer Quiplash Schmitty Will swear for like a full minute at you.
I think with Earwax, they don't allow listening to the sounds when picking them, because they still had local multiplayer in mind is the primary way people would play. They didn't want 7 users blaring random sounds, and potentially spoiling the end result. Too bad there often isn't really anything to spoil... Glad I could contribute to the example of how Bidiots can drag on! Haha. I really so still love that game, but dang is it ever begging for a lightning-round mode, where none of those 40 second host rants occur! The observation of sloppy art being rewarded is super interesting! Time + effort in your drawing =/= value, so really, you could benefit by being generic! But that could also mean that your $4000 painting is never properly identified and you lose out on the commission. It's tough, because you never know your own paintings value. It hurts my soul that people compare Quiplash to CAH...
My only general complaint about Quiplash is and has always been that the Audience has a little *too much* influence, so pandering instead of; you know, being funny is the best way to play if you have even an audience of 5. That being said, it's still one of the best Jackbox games ever.
"The only two party pack games where the sole purpose is for all the players to work together" *The Devils and The Details would like to know your location*
On the topic of people submitting the same response in quiplash, the only time it’s happened to me is when I and someone else got the prompt “A lazy person’s name for a horse” and we both said “horse”. I’ve played so much quiplash, and the fact that it’s just that one and not the several hundred other prompts is just testament to how rare it is
Bidiots is one for me that has really grown over time. I hated it when I first played JBPP2 but for some reason, that game has been one we regularly go back to.
If Earwax let you use any sound on demand, you know there would be at least one guy who keeps pulling the same specific .mp3 as a running gag, because that's basically half of the current style of meme humor
"Cards Against Humanity, but with all blank white cards" is a quick way to get people to understand what Quiplash is. It is a little more than that, but it's a classic for a good reason: it's simple to understand and nobody can know the answer in advance (the one flaw with Fibbage is the limited pool of questions plus people with good memories - thus, Enough About You in pack four). Earwax is fun for the sounds. Structurally quite awkward, but good for laughs. With a group of college-age or younger people (family filter on when needed), farts reign supreme. Bidiots gave everyone the prompt (famous female singer) Concert. Madonna, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Beyonce - predictably, half the artworks were different doodles and drawings of a girl singing.
hey silok, i just wanted to say thanks for making me laugh and smile with this video. i’ve had a rough week and your videos always cheer me up (especially this one)
8:25 This can happen in Quiplash, and it even has a special name. If both players type the exact same answer you get a Jinx and neither person receives points since it would be dumb to vote between 2 of the same answer. In the final round of 2, it will stop you from typing in the exact same answer of someone else and say someone else has that answer, and then prevent you from submitting it, however it doesn’t prevent you from adding the before it and basically answering the same thing.
I got Party Pack 2 for switch back when it was on sale for Bomb Corp alone and grinded my way through it by myself. It was AMAZING. I love logic puzzles and dry humor. And I've got some other party games when friends are over as a bonus. Which... isn't the case at the moment due to... you know. EDIT: Day 12 is brutal, as is the final day. The coffee puzzles at the end are so hard that so much time is lost reading all 4 pages alone you can't really process it in time.
Came back to this video following the update to Bomb Corp. recently... The filing mini-game is SO much easier now! They cut down on the number of names to sort, and it felt so much better!
Honestly there should be a Bidiots Sequel, adding colors, the highlighter tool, higher player count like 8. Obviously more prompts. And maybe some other miscellaneous additions, it would really be a MUCH better version of Bidiots.
me and my friends really like earwax but i completely understand why no one else does. its funny as hell but heavily flawed and i honestly want to see a sequel with a bit more depth in party pack 8
In Quiplash, I have seen two answers be the same. The prompt was; “What’s something that you really want, but can never get?” Two people both answered.... “An erection!”
7:49 The only excuse I could say is that if you play the sound, then other people could hear it so they’ll know exactly who played that sound, but it doesn’t really matter cause… we have headphones.
Super excited for Jack box party pack 3! I don't own the game but I've played it with friends and on twitch and yeah, it's definitely the best. Also excited for jackbox 4. It's the only one I actually own and I love it so much. Very underrated
Yo I just want to say two things about bidiots: 1. The time is intentionally long bc it can be a strategy to frustrate other players into not wanting to bid anymore, or to potentially wait for other players to decide on whether to bid or not. I know some people don't like this bc they don't like waiting but it's a part of the design and it doesn't feel frustrating in the moment because you're thinking about what your next move will be. Maybe some time cut off from it would be nice, but I think it's an important part of the gameplay that should be maintained. 2. The prompts on your screen being confusing is purely intentional to make bidding on something risky. If you knew information for sure, the game would get boring fast because you would be able to have sound strategies that won't fall apart if you're wrong.
For the Bidiots section he said "Sloppy drawings are rewarded" and this is just like in real life with modern art. You could literally have a clown vomit onto a canvas and it could be worth millions.
One critique I have about Quiplash XL is that the points in the final round are too small and barely change the standings - something better amended by its sequel.
You should've compared the Quiplash 1 Round 1 Writing/Voting Music to Quiplash 3's Round 1 Writing/Voting, the Party Pack 7's instalment has SUCH GOOD and goofy soundtrack
Glad to see part 2! I think your Bidiots section could have been cut in half though. I ended up skipping it since I already understood game and your thoughts about it enough only to see you still had 5 minutes to go until the next game lol
Why not in Earwax make it to where it acts like a safety quip if you choose to search through the catalog? That way, you are encouraged to make do with what sounds you have, but if you really think none of them are good enough, you can use the catalog and receive a small point penalty for searching through it?
I refuse to play quiplash unless i can be the cute little yellow guy. Hes just so frickin cute!! But my friends know this so they always try to steal him from me and i throw a tantrum every time. I am 25 years old...
Idk earwax is still limited by sounds not text with your idea. Quiplash has the infinite possibilities of words. Earwax is scripted. You have to use the sounds that are limited to you. Even fibbage highlights how often people can basically come up with the exact same idea even if they word it differently.
Bomb corp was always good once most people have checked out of the game and only 3-4 people still want to play something, and it’s still fun to watch in the background while everyone else talks or does something else
My friends and I like earwax too, the reason I like it though, is within the premise of context that the sounds would provide if used correctly, for example, there once was a prompt that went something along the lines of "the best entrance that someone could make" and by which someone in our party had the fortune of providing the sounds, "military march" and "sword decapitation" I don't really remember the proper names for these sounds, but it was dramatic, epic, and unexpected. I do agree with the videos points on it being like cards against, along with the faults that it has, and I really wish that this game could be revised and remade into a not cards against, the concept of providing context with sound is so appealing to me. And I feel as though a recreation of the game could have so much potential for being funny.
I agree with the fact taht bomb corp could be a standalone game and still hold up, but I think Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is similar enough that people would get that instead, even with bomb corp mixing in more Spaceteam-esque elements.
