I really enjoy watching your videos and want to thank you for sharing them and especially giving the settings for projects! We recently purchased the Pro, and I am wondering if the settings would be similar or if I would need to dial them back a bit because of the slightly stronger laser? Thank you.
Definitely for anything that I say Full Power for you'll either want to speed it up or reduce the power some. I'm not entirely sure for settings which are not Full Power though. It may be worth running a couple test squares where you speed it up by 10 each time until it doesn't cut for you to see if it's much different. I'll do a bit. more research and see if I can find out anything more specific though for you.
I probably would not use them to eat on. We use them as jewelry holders by sinks or on dressers. Check out my glass plate video though as since those are engraved on the bottom they are safe to eat on.
It’s more from the rough unsealed surface it creates on the ceramic. That would likely trap tiny food particles and bacteria. I think technically sharpies are non-toxic, but even they recommend against using them on something that comes in contact with a mouth.
Did you take your crumb tray out first and use some sort of risers or other material? If the plate is thicker than 1/2 ", the tray must come out and you'll use risers or stacks of material to get the plate within 1/2 of the laser head. Any closer or further away from the laser and it likely won't work.

@@TheAtlantaMaker is it because of the sharpie?

Do you need to use a barrier like tape over the shiny surface or is it good without one?
No tape necessary. I've done clear glass plates too without any tape and the focus seems to work fine.
are any and all ceramic / stoneware plates safe to laser engrave on?
Question how tall is plate? Trying but will not engrave
