- The BMW E36 M3 broke while we were out of town! We let German (Selena's Brother) borrow the E36 while we were roadtripping Selena's LS3 E46 to SEMA in Las Vegas. While we were on the trip, German broke the car twice and had to use AAA twice! The second time was the last time since the car had to be towed back to our house and it has sat untouched ever since. Do a fluid change. Clutch and brake fluid is hygroscopic so if its still the original or old fluid it might have water in it and at 30deg f that is the same a 0deg c and water freeze at 4deg c and below. This might also explain why its fine when you drove it as the temp is higher.
I had an issue with my Prelude one time. Original clutch. Randomly the car would get stuck in gear.
Turned out to be a warped clutch disk. One of the springs popped out of the clutch disk.
I think you have a leaking clutch slave or master cylinder, most likely slave. Clutch pedal gets stuck when pressure is lost. Once the failure point gets large enough you'll see the clutch master cylinder fluid level drop and more leaking.
German in the hot seat is like I’m really not lying, lol! In his defense, I’ve personally noticed the freezing cold weather awakens some BMW ghosts. Fun vid guys!

Old BMWs are so weird indeed. There was one time I can't get it started not even crank it, but my mechanics pal just swing by and turn it one on his first try.

What is that sound the car makes when the clutch pedal is not pushed down? Its not a grinding or anything.

Seeing as how you know so much about bmw’s, I have a general question that would give our cars better fuel economy:-
Are there any 7 speed gearboxes that could be swapped into an e46 M3 ???
My guess is that, either master or slave cylinder is failing. Maybe just the seals and when it gets colder and the seals get stiffer and cannot make compression.

Lol a lot of our cars have had minor things going wrong recently. Our e46 wagon had the water pump bearing fail out of nowhere.
@ShopLifeTV the daily grind 💪 I appreciate what you do the time you put in The e46 idler pulley seized and melted the roller as the belt went round n round, causing the belt to fall off 😳 ya overheated a tad; she's good, but the cold weather over in New England seems to let her have it.
I am going with Slave Cylinder, as i done my Son's a few weeks ago, same problem
