I haven't seen that in many years. That was my second day on the show. I was just wondering if anyone has the show preceding this one. I did a lot better. Don
Here's the deal, Don. First, it's fantastic to hear from a former contestant. Always! Second, even though I have 3/5 of this week's episodes, I am missing the Thursday show. I am talking with my game show friend from New York to see if she has any info about it.
@@samturner64 Sam, I don't know how to thank you. I really appreciate it. My grand kids will really get a kick out of that. I guess I am looking for July 13
The crowd cheering after correct answers prevents them from continuing for a couple of seconds. If the crowd was quiet it would give them several more seconds.
I never saw that as a problem. It takes about 3 seconds for the boxes to turn and for the giver to read the card. By the time they read the card, the applause is over.
its crazy how long ago i though 1978 was in 1998 when i was 10/11, and that 20 years ago was almost 2003! when i was a sophomore in HS! man,,,,, enjoy the younger years kids, life is precious
Oh yes, I remember seeing this now, way back in 1978!!!!! THE WIZARD OF OZ MAN was a great clue. And Jaime Lee knew how to respond to a list. Great. Too bad she was never asked back.
12:08, Halloween was released on October 25th of 78', she was trying to promote it during the holiday season, so it would bring in more money, no worries, it did well even thou it wasn't.
I just realized something after all these years… Candles are MADE OF wax…but aren’t necessarily WAXED. Wood furniture, a surfboard, a kitchen floor would have fit the subject a lot better. I never thought much of it, given that the ABC years on the whole were more lenient, but around this time 1978 they’ve made quite a few judgment zaps and a few take backs when it came to those sort of technicalities… Maybe it was this “freebie” that set something off at BASADA which made them get a little more strict-we all know what happened a few months later with Didi Conn (that take back is still kind of hard to watch for me honestly, because the contestant was already a few attempts in-and from what I recall, he ultimately lost the following game)… If only she had said “The Mets”…
The lady he kissed actually said "My husband is in the audience!!" afterwards -- there's another episode on here that uses the clip for the open and you hear her say it before they toss it to Bob Clayton to open...
This past Sunday was the 50 th anniversary of the $10,000 show which would alternate networks and three times in syndication.Amounts would go up and down during each era.
Even Bill Cullen himself said that the New York shows were better for the same reasons. He actually hesitated to make the move out to LA while all of his contemporaries were moving.
This is so wholesome lol. i feel like a douche saying that, but its the only word i can think of. i wonder why they dont have game shows on at night anymore. seems they would cheap to produce, and it seems that it would always be fun watching people who really deserve it, win money and prizes!

I saw it Don. Saw you all week. EL
God bless being a fireman. Jamie Lee seems like a nice lady.
UPDATE: My NY friend has a HUGE collection of Pyramid reruns from GSN and found this entire week! Don, you will see your previous show soon!!

I never knew that Jaime Lee Curtis played this game, with George Maharis no doubt...😮
20:09 - Jamie Lee Curtis gives us a demonstration of what she’s about to become famous for a few months from this show. 🎃
The perfect promo with the Oscar-winning scream!
Ah but that was in joy of helping her partner win $15,000!
@@NEPatriot true, but that scream is THAT scream. Unmatched then, still unmatched now.
I've never seen Jamie Lee Curtis on a game show before
She was also on Match Game
Crazy they are discussing Halloween as a new thriller coming out that year

BEST TV game show of all-time!!!

Ellen, you really killed it on the $20,000 pyramid. You were definitely calm, cool, and collected during the $15,000 attempt.
"Wizard of Oz Man"--brilliant clue
Now here's Oscar winning actress Jaime Lee Curtis. We had to wait almost 45 years to see her win an oscar.
Simply amazing length to wait for an Oscar
For Olivia Newton-John, her clue could’ve been “She sang, I honestly love you”.
Jamie Lee Curtis LIKED that!
I'm surprised saying "John" Travolta to describe Olivia Newton-John didn't get cuckooed

You can “wax” a candle. See Google.
Things you break-Someone’s heart, your promise, the bank
Ellen played phenomenally. She deserved every dime.
Thank you!
0:21 a lady won $20,000 with the assistant of Tony Randall. My goodness Tony Randall is married at the time. I like to see the whole episode

I love you Jamie Lee ❤❤

That $15,000 prize equals just under $72,000 in 2023. So yeah, Ellen sure had something to celebrate.
Thank you!
Jamie was so young
She *KILLED* it!!
Why was there a buzzer during the "Jewels" clue?
They thought “diamonds” was synonymous with “jewels.”
it was just in error. Synonyms were not buzzed during the NYC Pyramid shows.
Loved this one with Jamie she was good.. wonder why she never played in the l;ate 80's versions
She became an A-Lister
@@ericsamuelson5656 *Bingo.*
@@jmiller297 she also became a wife and mother, too.
Same reason why you only saw Michael J Fox on it for one week. They became bigger than the show
NYC Pyramid is the best; no better audience and contestants.
Even Bill Cullen himself said that the New York shows were better for the same reasons. He actually hesitated to make the move out to LA while all of his contemporaries were moving.
❤❤❤😭😭😭😭
Holy Crap! It's ĜEORGE MAHARIS!!!
i swear they had to have at least knew the answers back stage, they guess so fast lol
I loved every minute. you were so good and looked great too. xoxo
15:41 George, Liv Ullmann isn't Swedish--she's of Norwegian ancestry, born in Japan and raised in Canada!
She’s in the new movie with John travolta.. lol
She could’ve said “Saturday Night Fever” actor, the dancer
HAS A TITLE and ROCK were hard, right Richard Hernandez?
I hope with that 15k you took out Jamie :) I know I would have!

future Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis!
call me n idiot, but i never knew that things that sterling silver is things made from pure silver lol. is that right?
Laurie Strode on Pyramid ! Hopefully her brother doesn't show up 😜
19:53 Excuse me you do not wax a candle. By the way this Jamie Lee Curtis lady will never make it in Hollywood
Lol and you were wrong
You do wax a candle
I hope she took her to dinner. 😅
Nope! LOL
Scream Queen!!
20:29 The 'ludes finally kicked in...
