- Tactics Ogre Reborn has the same Requirements to recruit the turbo knight Ravness as last time. She's an absolute asset with her roughly -12 RT, but boy is she a process to recruit.

Personal note: I know I got some lore bits a bit wrong, noticed that a bit late. Cold brain happens, not feeling too great, hopefully this helps the folks that asked for a haphazard Ravness guide!

As a 45 year old about to play this for the first time I am really starting to appreciate channels like this with the dedication required by a game of this magnitude.
Looking forward to watching more and as a gamer of advancing years am liking the idea of long haul trpgs as opposed to the transient and often shallow nature of certain first party titles with a short shelf life.
Feel the same, I'm in my fourties and this is my first time playing this title as well.

I have 1000+ hours on a few saves from my PSP/Vita TV version and am sure I'll have that on the new PC version I bought. Comes out to pennies an hour due the sheer amount of replays / team compositions and all the side content. My fav game of all time
Im still on my first play through and I’m just in awe just how much the story changes with each action/inaction that is taken by the player and the nuances that are lost when you miss an optional story route.
Since you started playing this everyday, I started playing FF Tactics again. I found a new room i never played before by doing all the Bar missions and got a Zodiac stone.

I'd love to see detailed videos like this on all the multi-step characters recruiting process. Or any other things that could potentially be missable items like the dances or ninja stuff from the PSP version. I'm digging all this content from you man, keep it up!
They are identical to the psp version besides deneb

Hektor? Dude I struggle with that for hours. Wtf were the devs thinking! Hektor alone is a beast who instakill everyone. Some tips that worked for me: stock on full heal potions, have a griffon and a dragon to tank damage, use the items that do weaken and struggle, use the item that debuffs his def. Use a couple of archer ninja with silence to shut the mages and healers
Surprisingly that's not his hardest encounter. Snow Hektor is absolutely hellish for most, starts off with an elevation advantage, a wall of dragons, and he even goes for a fake out encirclement. It's neat.

Last part are very important!!! if you finished the fight too fast! you will not get her. You have to complete all their talking parts!!! many people probably are frustrated about what they did wrong lol😆✌

When I get around to actually getting this game, you can rest assured my first playthrough will include getting her into my team
12:39 it is highly important to let the battle go long enough for Ravness to say this line. I tested it out and if your party is too strong and miss this dialogue, Denam will not ask her to join in the next cutscene. So if you are coming back on WORLD switch out your weapons and finishers just to be safe.

@@TidusTheGame you can skip the line, but this section of the dialogue has to be triggered (Denam: "I might have chosen another path at Balmamusa" - until - Ravness: "...bearing your shame upon your shield"). I have just confirmed it... she did not rejoin the Resistance when I killed the enemy units too fast. Kurtis Seid is absolutely right (by the way, thanks a lot for the tip).

This is true I''ve tried my self. I've prolonged the battle as long as possible until she talk with Canopus (if you bring him)
Oh my god this was a nightmare to do. One trigger that is rarely talked about online in this whole quest chain is that in the final battle, you have to wait for all three conversations to happen. I was clearing the map with out all three conversations triggering. You might have to wait around for them to talk, I suggest wiping out the enemies down to one unit. Once Denim gives the line about how he might have done things different in Bamamusa, then you are in the clear to end the battle.
I repeated Chapter 2 twice because of this. This is so much worse than recruiting Cressida.

Clicked on this because when I did Balmamusa (went Law this time because my only PSP playthrough was Chaos) I didn't yet know that some units may be neutral. I assumed "Oh, so on Law, she also isn't recruitable. Weird." and she died because she charged right into my squad alone.
On some level, I think it's cool that there's so many side quests you can trigger at seemingly random (I randomly managed to actually *do* the one for Ozma completely blind) because it helps replayability. I imagine if I had played this as a kid with no internet, I'd have had new secrets to discover for YEARS. The only thing I dislike is how the dialogue options are laid out. I actually did the Ozma-Volaq battle twice because the option I *thought* was diplomatic enough ended up with her leaving despite the choice sounding much more agreeable. Which left me with an extremely difficult battle that had NO reward (my units were level capped and I barely scraped by, so no loot drops, as well as no Ozma). I got annoyed enough at this to reset and do it over. Not sure if these dialogue options are victims of translation or what because that's not the first time I had a choice where both options sounded extremely similar. Jeunan was the first and I actually got it right on my own, thinking nothing of it, but I was hoping that'd have been a one off issue.
To be clear, if the choices were actually different to make you roleplay and you happen to just not agree with certain things, that would be awesome. I actually wanted to see more choices like Balmamusa. But it ends up being the same thing said *slightly* differently 90% of the time and that just feels bad, because neither can you actually choose a stance nor do you get the unit, if you choose wrong.
More than most would ever do, at any rate. Even a lot of story and choice games don't stretch their little impacts as hard as this one. Like I'll regularly be scrolling through old saves and just remember the stories those stories went through. Not the overarching stories, but the struggles and moments.
I remember playing Ogre Battle on SNES and I hadn't realized how many missables/alternate characters or routes there were.
I already got her killed in my first playthrough of Tactis Ogre 😭

there is a solid reason to let her stay valkyrie - meditation. It allows her to dish out finishers at a much higher rate than a white knight.

Kunoichi kills a lot of dangerous treats and can use bows, a high level Kunoichi Mage can kill golems...

This is my first time playing and I'm bummed that she dies in the Chaos route while surviving in the other.
The lawful route is more about understanding what might need to be done in order to win. I'll add that it's also an interesting route considering how it effects the characters.
many say Ravness English voice is not good enough but to me she sound like many muscular woman like Gwendoline Christie for example, i dont dislike it! just a bit out off character
i really do love the Voice acting in Reborn make it more immersion but there are a few who just surprise me for example Dark Knight Lans and Arcylle

I don't hate it, she just sounds out of place, but in a fitting way? Good point on that comparison, kinda makes me think of the strong girl from Encanto gone Tudor. Kiddos love that movie.
@@CoffeePotato you're right! the voice fit Ravnes profile but her Anime character Art say otherwise 😆 and i still enjoy it because the way Voice Actor put effort portraying the character is top notch! 💯 worth every penny.

i messed up I was totally going to recruit her, kept her alive in that one fight (what a pain), then picked the wrong dialog option or something apparently. Was too far along before i realized i had made the mistake. Don't care too much Lol, i remember her being good but there are so many units to choose from, oh well. Her voice sounds pompous anyways!!

I was unpleasantly surprised about which way the story went at the end of chapter 1. I assumed the “Lawful” route meant not doing the thing you’re asked to do, so that’s what I chose. Imagine my shock when the game informs me that I chose the chaos route! Like, what? Doing that would be “Lawful?” Other than that, very glad I got this game, it’s worth every penny otherwise.
How so? You're following orders, and the law per the country you're backing. It's a regular knife twist in the series. Following orders keeps you in good standing, but following morality may well get everyone killed. Sounds depressing until reading about how shockingly historically accurate that is. Really liked Resonant Arc's breakdown recently over this stuff, Part 3 especially.
@@CoffeePotato Haven’t heard of Resonant Arc, but I’ll check him out. I guess personally, I believe in an objective morality. Murder is wrong no matter who says it’s right, etc. More than anything I’m bummed that despite apparently siding with Ravness she isn’t recruitable in that path. I was hoping she would join for the following battle, but then Vyce pulls a Vyce and got her.
And I just want to emphasize that I didn’t think it was a bad choice, just that I find the game’s narrative direction to be… unusual. Either way I used to subscribe to Nintendo power when I was younger, and loved the sections about this game. Always wanted to try it and here I am 20 years later. Everything from the select confirmation sounds to the slight brown patina and low graphics just do it for me. And thank you for making this content; I’m autistic and since I got it this game has been squarely in my attention tunnel, and your vids help me relax by giving my brain what it wants: knowledge. Thank you.
It's super weird, I followed this as well as every other guide and the battle at Bahanna doesn't proc. I had to go back with the World Tarot. I wonder if I just can't get her because I messed up the first time and didn't get Jeunan when I played through.
Same here. It happened to me yesterday. If you choose a wrong answer, you'll be doomed. No Raveness!!!
Nice and helpfull vid, also going through my first playthrough, :) Any chance you could have a video about all the hidden items in all the maps? I know not a big deal compared to earlier games of this but I'd still like to find em all.

Good vid! Thanks! 04:00 I remember, that I argued with a letsplayer on RUclips years ago and told him, that he wouldn’t get Ravness because he chose the first option. He claimed that it doesn’t matter and you will get her anyway...that was false! It took him a day or two longer before his next vid came out and he got her later. My opinion: He refused he was wrong and replayed that battle off screen to claim that he wasn’t wrong! Was quite pathetic from him.
I picked the friend option and she doesn't leave and I just recruited her in chapter 3? The new guide for reborn doesn't mention that conversation either.
Seems unclear to some degree, but it could be a case of a CF check. I can't say for sure, I never really tested it, to be honest.
to recruit Ravness is so laborious she should be the best character in the game, but she is only the prettiest girl and that is it, every guide i read calls her the "pretty girl" is a trophy character for playing the game not missing anything, reading Waren talk reports and listening to all the lengthy battle dialogs.

Hey man, when you finished the main story and got access to the world and go back, does the party level stays or got reduced? also does the enemies lvl and equipment scales to your party when you world back to previous chapters?
You keep your stuff, but your stats and gear are scaled to the fight in the first go around, then you can turn that off when revisiting.
All that work to recruit the McLaren but, totally worth it. 😎🏎

I got a question. I seem to notice that crafted items in reborn seem to be more balanced compared to the crazy stuff you can make early on in the PSP version. With all the balancing Reborn did, can you still do some crazy stuff post-game or they really did balance everything to avoid such things from happening?
You still can, it's just different to accomplish.
I just did this, they had the conversation Bahanna without bringing down the target down 70%... can anyone else confirm? i got the dialogue but havent found a source that says that can be omitted.
I did everything right up until the fight with Jeunan, and accidentally cleared out any saves before that could save me
Which part was the issue? The fight itself, or a trigger? If it's an assumed softlock, I love making guides for those (would like more info to recreate it, if that's the case)

I think they exist, but not for me. There's no Steal skill, but there IS a loot stealing back and forth mechanic of sorts. You can get Sparagmos on familiars, Speedstar on Buc, and Back Attack on Archers.
@@CoffeePotato yeah but "loot stealing" not the same and it sucks. I still would have rather kept rogues and have my healing items stolen. Sure it would have been frustrating but such is life in Valeria.
@@r0000g Uh ...that was never a thing. It's a thing in Fell Seal and every Roguelike ever, but the AI could never use Steal in Tactics Ogre. They could steal your loot bags. Now they can still steal your loot bags, but will drop them on death. It's pretty neat to see a boss drop a whole fight's worth of bags.

Yeah pretty much They made the PSP remake around the same time as the FFT PSP remake so they share a lot of stuff, but without Tactics Ogre, FFT wouldn't exist.
I kept putting Ravness to sleep in Balmamusa. I had a very low chance every cast, so I had to abuse the chariot system.
You don't need to abuse it, just cast again. I mean it'll work, but that leads to frustration. Rampart, Concentration, shields, done.
hey first timer here, is the guide for finding higher level recipe still valid now (the one from LUCT)? been trying to get one in pirate's graveyard, alr follow all those specifics but still no luck. please if someone knows
So far there's 3 in each elemental temple boss, and they've been dropping like christmas songs in December in POTD floors 11-30.
Man, I was careful on missing out Ravness (got to break my blind playthrough for her) but I chose the wrong answer in the Brigantys. I thought the chapter2 fight is enough for her to be recruited in 3.

They didn't, I just got tired, accidentally over wrote that save, and talked about it instead.
I rushed the boss when you have to save her and did not get the dialogue option. Did I just messed up?
I'm actually not sure, he's usually bulky enough to last up to the trigger.

I love the ogre battle franchise, but it is so funny looking through the warren report and seeing "you killed this person" under damn near everyone. So if you kill one of your own unique units in battle, will it update the warren report saying you killed them or will it just say a generic "slain in battle"? For example, say I take my olivia into battle and brutally murder her with Denam, would I get a specialized warren report entry?

To be fair, I did once. Mostly. But that was due to checking the Warren Report for something entirely different constantly.

how does Chaos and Neutral compensate for their own unique character ?
Please do a video for the 3 alignment (Law. Neutral and Chaos) 's Unique character that they will uniquely get.
From what I remember from the PSP game, Chaos has the most recruitable characters. They added Ravness to make Law more on par with Chaos, and Neutral just kinda sucks.

HAH, I wish. You could stack two bows for an absurdly minor damage bonus in SNES, though.
@@CoffeePotato btw what's your favorite game in the ogre battle series? Mine is probably Knight of Lodis, for 2 main reasons. The emblem system is fantastic and I don't have to tremble in terror whenever the enemy team has more than 2 archers.
I've done every step but when I go to the snow place the battle where you get Ravness doesn't start

I did the Lawful route on my first playthrough and Ravness literally ran AWAY from my party and promptly got surrounded by a bunch of melee units with mages pelting her from the outside. I had to really abuse the chariot system to get her through the fight.
She will target wherever seems like a more tempting target, usually that's your team. Either way, that's why we remove her from play ASAP.
What happens if you run a game on New Game + ?
You warp back on the same save file, it scales your team, but you keep your stuff and abilities.

I did everything you said but the highlands isn't triggering AT ALL! Ive gone back in time and got the dragoon and did all the fights etc, NOTHING!
How much are you hopping back and forth? It all has to be in one go.
@@CoffeePotato Okay I did it all in one go, wish that would had been said because I had no idea I jumped ahead thinking all was well since I was able to save her the 2nd time but the fight wouldn't trigger for the 3rd time running into her, maybe I missed that part because I was tired IDK. But now I gotta play all the way through to get the beast tamer gal instead of jumping ahead also, then I can roll back and go the other paths to get the other characters.

@CoffeePotato well I went the law route, didn't touch her at all during the ensuing battle, got the wyrm knight dude, read the talking points every way possible got all the talk out of the ninja dude, saved her, and the Bahanna fight never appears after I take Cortina keep

How can I beat Vyce? He's too strong. Can barely hurt him and he gets two turn.
And his damage is insane.
Can't exit the area either. Other classes do nothing to him.
Feel like if I had better healing items I could win but can't leave the area
Try debuffing him or buffing your main damage dealer
@@crono276 I did. Used an item that buffs Denams atk. Did nothing.
Put Breach on Vyce. Very slight increase. Like a matter of a few points.
Can't heal fast enough to beat his damage output.
Phalanx doesn't help. Heal 2 is worthless. None of the buff cards help. I'm screwed.

Bro, ive done this step by step, and the battle to recruit her doesnt happen.
Ive rolled back over 8 times now.
I'd like to take this opportunity to comment on how HORRIBLE allied AI is. Clerics rush the front lines and use shields and 1hp cudgel hits, don't use buffs, and often shield bash instead of heal, front liners spec into strength or dex with 0 intelligence will prioritoze using spells off items instead of a Mighty Impact Double Strike (150 dmg vs 1200+ dmg) will proc melee skills like mighty impact or falling blade only to use an item spell and then retreat, refuse to be away from a death fall cliff, use spells like summons on targets with less than 10% hp, canopus will run headlong to the back lines of the enemy, get surrounded and instantly killed far out of healing range, as well as spread their damage around to every unit without focusing down kills at all. I've watched the AI walk past enemies on low health to hit another enemy at full health, and then the unit they passed will go, run further into the backline and OHKO a healer or caster. The AI is absolutely pathetic. I used it while doing PotD and in the first 50 floors, where I had 10+ lvl advantage, it didn't matter as much. But 50+, forget it. Enemy AI, however, is good. They focus attacks on single targets, abuse the hell out of orbs and area spells, and use good front and back line strategies to funnel or blockade you into a killzone. Ally AI is really only for training and areas where you already have a distinct advantage.

It depends, at least it's better then it was, though there's usually a reason they do what they do. Like shield bashes usually mean "I didn't have any spells I could use for this situation, and my shield does ok damage vs this guy, I've been ordered never to sit still". Punches usually mean "I can't escape my dead zone, this is my cry for help".
I got all the way up to almost where you recruit her, had been following a guide and had done everything right, and then I got to the battle right before and realized I didnt have that guy you need in your party cuz of ONE FUCKING DIALOGUE CHOICE! which of course theres no guide anywhere on so how are you supposed to know what to choose, and now I'm fucked for getting her, so stupid that it can all come down to something so insignificant, and now I have to replay the whole path to get her again, and I was going to do a chaos/neutral run my 2nd time, so goddman annoying..
Same here. I think you have to load the latest save file before the dialogue choice since the guide said you won't have chance to recruit goddamn Raveness.
Just a tip, since this video is catered to newer players it might help if you can cut similar videos down to 8mins or less to make more viewer friendly.
I usually try to, but this one is a longer process.
Ravness always talks about protecting the younger generation of warriors as if she isnt just 19. But I guess people dont live that long there, so 19 might be older than I think.

Well considering that most of the characters are getting in to the range of Child soldiers and are barely old enough to be adults I would say she has a point.
23, but yeah, folks were getting thrown into wars at like 15-18ish, history wasn't a fun place to be.
