About time a reviewer that’s actually riding the bike! Extra points for being from Melbourne too haha I’m gonna go look at one hopefully this week and it says it comes with a sxc2 fork!
@@9LivesRides If i can find one in stock, was going to grab the trek x-caliber 8 but no stock till mid next year now looking at the fathom 1 fingers crossed I can get one with the rockshocks fork, yes also in Melbourne and yeah the lockdowns been a pain
They give you those pedals because most replace them. On the Fathom, no pedals are included. My US model has the Giant brand air fork, also 100mm travel. How much PSI do you run in the tires? They say 65 psi but seems like it would be a much nicer ride at lower pressure.
My seat post became loose after 5 days of using it I tightened it up and it good now but idk if anyone else had that problem or of it was just how mine was built from my local shop
@@motolifealways yeah my tires where a little loose as well but easy fix I think it’s just how it was built at the shop also my cranks us to creek a little but it stopped for the most part
Interesting stuff! How's it working out for you? As much as I understand it, the difference is in sidewall strength so I'd sure like some first hand experience on it!
@@Lifehackz137 Your feet should not sit flat on the ground when you sit on it. It should feel a bit tall. I'm no expert but you might want to look up sizing guides. A dude at REI just stepped me through while I sat on a bike. Where did you order yours from?
Great vid I have watch this a couple of times since I had ordered the same bike back when you released this vid October 2020. Was just told three weeks ago that I will not be getting the bike since Giant have stopped production of the 2021 model for the 2022 model. So you where lucky to get this model in that colour, there was a chance of getting this model in the black not till about week 33 of this year only a chance though. I did a bit of ringing around and got a fathom 1 from a small country town NSW, about three hour drive from where I live. Spent more than I wanted but very happy with bike.
I agree. I tried 29 but have gone back to 27.5. I had to sometimes fight the 29 on turns and the 27.5 is definitely smother on turns and just feels 'right'.
Hey mate nice review, I just ordered one today. I was told it should come with the new crest forks that are an in house Giant fork. I was a little disappointed hope they are not shit.
Hey Sameer! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the bike, I've really enjoyed taking it on the trails so far. If you check out my latest uploads you'll see I've upgraded the pedals and grips, but otherwise it's a very capable bike. Enjoy!
Standard Aussie issue. The joys of living in an Island in the middle of nowhere means we seem to get different stuff from everyone else. Enjoy your tiny UK pedals!
@tofikcs beter is that you try if possible, if not , for 186 a L wil fit I think I personally feel that xl is to big and we have just 3 cm differences between you and me , so yes I think L wil be good 👍
How capable would you say the bike is for slightly aggressive trail riding???? Im not exactly a beginner (been riding for over a year and a half now) so I’m wondering if it’s capable of things like small doubles and/or rock gardens.
Honestly, I don't think the fork is up to it. The rest of the bike no problems at all, but I reckon things like rock gardens will take a toll on the RockShox Judy. I'd be opting for something with a better built air fork for sure, even if that means going second hand to get more bang for your buck. Happy riding!
I have the same bike, love it but I'm looking to upgrade the fork. Was wondering what would you change it with? I need 100mm of travel since I have a small with 80mm :(
@@9LivesRides i currently have a giant talon 2 in the same colour, would you be willing to give any suggestions for a dropper seat post that is a little more affordable?
@@freeskillerz656 As far as a good quality dropper I don't really know of any quality ones for less than around $170usd. There are definitely some on eBay for around $80USD but I have no idea of the quality.
I've ordered a set of HT PA03A pedals, but thanks to the current world situation they're still not here. I'm expecting them within the next few days, so look out for a video on those 🤞
In Australia we can't get the Talon 0 for some strange reason, but looking at the specs the 0 is a better bike. I always say buy the best bike you can comfortably afford.
So sorry I missed your comment, I went on a bit of a hiatus. For anyone still interested, Giant has a habit of offering completely different specs for the same bikes, depending on where in the world you live. I'm sure it probably does have 780mm bars in some versions!
mine ended up lasting 13 months before they were done where i ended replacing them with my 6yrold redline petals that i had laying around since i kind of agree that cheap petals kind of didn't help with the bike
You're probably right in many ways, but once again for some strange reason it's not a bike that's available in Australia and I'm guessing some other parts of the world too. No idea why Giant has such confusing region-specific sales.
@@9LivesRides yeah giant seem to do that.. . 2020 models don't think had a talon 0 either. The pedals on the talon 1 2020 model where shocking aswell I got them changed. Been waiting 2 months for mine to arrive in Melbourne! glad to see at least someone got theirs and enjoys it!
No way! Mine came in about 5 days, maybe try a different store? Best of luck with it!
A friend showed me his new “Giant Talon” my. Old. Ridgeback had worn out, bought a. New. Talon, VERY HAPPY !
Had my GT1 for two years and I will never replace it, it’s a buzz to ride on gravel and dirt and although slower on roads the tyres are bullets proof
A very entry level bike... 2 upgrades would be 760-800mm bars and a dropper
The bars can be cut down. They even have indicator marks under the grips.
Thinking getting the giant fathom 1
That's a beautiful looking bike, I'm jealous!

There should be a minimum and it should be around 30-35 psi the pros running at like 17psi FYI
The less air in your tire the less resistance when rolling over objects

doesn't come with air fork or tubeless ready rimms anymore due to supply shortages. They just put other components in and don't tell you. Be aware!
