- I had a short evening session on the river after the Tench using a running line, and i managed to hook a decent Tench. However hooking them is one thing, playing them through the various snags is another matter!
What a so-an-so Bill ! Well done for not swearing !! You’ll beat them in the end......keep well and safe.
Great video bill we all being down that road it will only get better from there 🎣👍🇿🇦 keep up the good work.
Bill sorry to see you miss that lovely fish but that is the joys of fishing mate always loved to watch your videos you are a good old time relaxing Fisher regards from Andy PS I would love to see you do pike fishing
Man had his own channel well done
brings back memories.thanks
Hard luck Bill, happens to the best of us. I lost a very large roach at the net a while ago, slipped the hook, looked a good bit over 2 lb. Still rankles. Also, easily my personal best trout, smashed after a ten minute scrap. We kick ourselves and move on.
Evening Bill that was really unlucky, looked like a really good fish. Ive been fishing the airman lately and have had a few 3,4 pounders just in the margins with bread flakes and lob worms, never tried the river for tench, best of luck for next time take care bill tight lines
You'll get into them bill ..dont worry....very nice spot there to fish....👍👍🍻🍻
You win some, you lose some that's the joy of angling Always next time Bill.
It happens. Well done for containing the expletives! At least you know they are there now?
Every fisherman's worst nightmare, hook into the target species and it comes off at the net ! thanks for posting Bill, reality angling you win some you lose some but it's going fishing that is the real prize.
Spot on! Bill
Gutted Bill better luck next time, well location .... I was fishing today upstream from your location same thing happened to me, 5 hrs fishing session one bite and I lost it that’s how it goes all good fun. Tight lines mate 👍
Yes we all have had that on this river but the size of the fish keeps me trying Bill
Easy Fishing Yes I agree blanking is one thing, but missing a good size fish hurts so we go back lol cheers Bill
We ALL been there bill. Part and parcel of fishing m8... still that gutted feeling NEVER goes away, does it. 🤣🤣🤣
Hi yes that sinking feeling when you lose a big fish! Bill
You beat me to the hair cut Bill, Tench are a fantastic fighting fish love catching them
Keep at it Bill, will be worth it to see one on the bank👍
Unlucky Bill,
Like the snazzy barnet mate 👍
Sitting on the edge of my chair, we'v all been there before, still, nice hair cut Bill.
I would never fish the Embankment with less than 10lb line. Very snaggy, full of weeds and cabbages and god knows what else. I've had tench all long there and up to cinema and county hall. It's a, Shame you lost it Bill, you kept your cool, but I know you bag em soon.
Hi don't forget the shopping trolleys and bikes, both of which I have dragged out in the past! On my heavy pole rigs I often use a 10lb rig with an 8lbs hooklength and 22 to 25 solid elastic and have managed to catch some very big fish of most species. Bill
Dont worry you'll get one soon i went out yesterday and tried your liquidised bread in a hard ball with bread punch on the hook and found out a good little trick size 6 bread punch with 1 maggot underneath caught on that al day long had 17lbs of silver bream skimmers roach perch and bream keep up the good work hopefully next time you will get it in and it will feel even better
Hi well I used brown and white crumb mixed 50/50 for the solid ball of feed. It is a pain to mix but breaks down slowly. No matter how hard you squeeze liquidised bread it will break up very quickly on the bottom and disperse hence the mix of brown and white crumb mixed hard to make fish attack the bait ball. I don't use maggots on this river as the hoards of small fish just rag the bait unless I'm after small fish. Bill
I used 50 50 as Well maybe give the bread and maggot a try somewhere else
The one that got away, we've all been there! lol.
Nice haircut!😀🎣 You can’t lose what you never had....still infuriating tho’
Lovely video mate! 🤙 5th
We all know that feeling Bill
Bad luck! Great video though 👍.
I see you got a haircut Bill, where did you go? I need one badly!!
Shame you lost that fish. When I use a centrepin and hook a decent fish like that I switch off the ratchet/clicker and use my thumb as a brake. If it goes tearing off I release my thumb and give the fish some line, then gently apply thumb pressure again to get it under control. Not saying your way is wrong, but that's what I always do. Tight Lines!
Hi I managed to get the local sheep farmer to get his clippers out!! In these really snag filled swims you cant let the fish run and yes, I was using my thumb as a brake on the spool Bill
Set of electric clippers and your own hands. Been doing it a while. What next being asked how to breath in and out? Seems like humans are Devolving every day.
@@peachycreations8787 You want some chips with that salt?
@@CB-xr1eg do you want some extra helpings of devolved human incompetence to go with your "oooh I can't cut my own hair" how will I cope in life? Pathetic specimen..
Gutted for you, Bill. I'm not sure I would've been so restrained with my reaction. Next time!
Had a 7lb bream and a 6lb bream just past the butterfly bridge on the other side of where you fish, lovely and clear shame about the rowers 😃
Hi that's interesting. I went and took a look at the opposite side just above the bridge and in the clear water I could see several thick beds of cabbages out to about 5 mtrs, so were you a bit further up? Lots of good stamp bream in the area but I'm still after those bigger tench. Bill
Easy Fishing on the other side opposite the bushes you’ll see some lillies I fished the right hand side of those just short of the middle and when the rowers were persistent I had been loose feeding by the lillies and catching those lovely Roach right under my rod tip👍🏻 I’m after the Tincas myself but no luck as of yet, if I see you down there a’ll pick your brains about the Doctor fish 😃
Gutted for you mate. Very unlucky. Very close to getting that in. Always next time. Did you not do anything else on that session? Tight lines
Hi yes I went on to catch several bream the biggest weighing 7lbs 2ozs but the footage was rubbish! Bill
You talked yourself into that one when you said about a snap off job never mind their is always another day.
Hello, I cannot see why you called this another wasted chance, for two reasons, A. you taught me and a few others how to be cool in adversity. B. you surmised the problem and dealt with it. I hooked into a larger carp, in my local fishery the other day. I was using my Multitech 600, a newish and lubricated Slik 14 elastic, fresh Diawa tied rig and after a good 5 mins being taken around the peg, the rig etc whizzed past my ear, the air was technicolour, all blues. The Guru 16 pellet hook had straightened slightly and the fish was gone. I let my grandkids see your “wasted chance” I would not dream of letting them see my wasted chance…. Stay Safe
Unlucky bill that ratchet sounded a bit ropey. But good haircut ha ha
these modern fishing lines have good strenght to low diameter etc.... but very fragile for putting shot on or doing knots without weakening them.... im sticking with maxima and bayer perlon.... lot more resistant to abrasion....
Hi try Drennan's extra tough. I wish I had used that for a hooklength!! Bill
I feel the pain
Awwwwwww
Bill, be positive s get back down there and teach that Tench a lesson.......your not gonna give up.
Oh don't worry I will be back out there after those big tench Bill
You're *
3:46 RIP
Always nx time you win some and of this case you lose some I'm sure u will have 1 before autumn sets in regards
That’s unlucky Bill, think the drag on the reel let you down as well, seemed very jagged. Better luck next time 👍
Personally I'd have switched the drag off and used my thumb to control the reel. But each to their own...
Clive Bindley same buddy, can fish a lot lighter as there is less chance of a hook pull, everything nice and smooth 👌
There is no drag or clutch on a centrepin reel only a ratchet and I was using my thumb and I can't play the fish by letting them run as they just charge straight into the snags Bill
@@easyfishing1936 Sorry Bill but that's incorrect. Rapidex, Trudex and a few other makes of centrepin have a tension wheel which is effectively a drag. You can adjust it to how fast you want the reel to spin.
I appreciate what you're saying about the snags and not letting the fish run.
@@adamstoneangling3411 👍 I fish at a local old quarry pit, there are carp and F1 carp in there. Catching them on a centrepin is great fun, more exciting than a fixed spool reel
Mate, that feeling 🤮🤮🤮🤮. Next time bill, next time,,,,,,,,
lol.. happened to me the other day.. on 15 lb, not 5.. nothing for it but to get another bait on and get it out there..
Hi don't worry I will persevere Bill
I never fish for tench with any more than 4lb hook length as tying spade ends becomes a little difficult at higher line strength. Worst case for losses used to be a hook untied but I now superglue the knot. As I only fish barbless hooks for all my fishing I do loose some. That's fishing for you. Tight lines everyone.
Hi well if I used a 4lbs line I would lose 90% of the fish I hooked! Tied properly you don't need super glue and I use a Drennan or Matchman hook tyer and they both give perfect results. For these big fish I use an eyed hook as I am usually hair rigging my bait Bill
Buy a match man hook tyer, para
@@easyfishing1936 On the set up I use I have caught fish in excess of 10lb so why would I need heavier. Even Matt Hayes recommends superglue your knots as it prevents strangulation of the knotted line.
Honestly I've landed some amazing fish on light tackle Bill you're assumptions are very wrong,or maybe your ability?
Thought you was bullying it a bit bill perhaps getting it in a bit to quick
If only you could see the lily and cabbage beds where I was fishing!! The big fish charge straight through them given any chance at all and that is what that fish did and having seen the fish it was 6lbs plus and in deep clear water they fight unbelievably hard Bill
@@easyfishing1936 How's your nappy Bill? Filled it up during that battle I bet! Don't let a little wee make you stop being you.
@@peachycreations8787
@@CB-xr1eg Clive it is an inside joke between myself and Bill, you just wouldn't understand! But if you feel left out you're welcome to purchase some tenor pants hah eh Bill 😂🎂👖
@@peachycreations8787 Nice try mate, but you're still a weirdo. If you're going to try looking clever maybe you should spell properly? I'll let you try and work out your error. Have fun.
I think the drag on the reel let you down , you see its important to set it right......I feel the loss mate.
Depends what reel it is. Some don't have a tension adjusting wheel on them so the ratchet is either on or off with no adjustment. I have a Trudex which has an adjusting wheel and a Gypsy D'Argent that doesn't.
No drag on a centrepin only a ratchet and my thumb! Bill
Nevermind bill next time tight lines...
Oh bill, I feel the loss mate 😬
My Wife said who is that man you're listening to, he sounds suicidal. I said that's our Fishing Mate Bill, he always sounds like that. Then you lost the fish!!! Better Luck next time!
I hope I don't sound suicidal! Bill
@@easyfishing1936 you do sound suicidal it must be the medication and the Tena pants. But you shouldn't let a little wee and being a drama queen stop you being you Bill, because we love for that very reason.

Oh sorry bill
Always a talking point, always tommorow I'm 74, I hope that will happen many more times for me
