Thank you, this looks like such a easy technique! But whenever I finish and rip off the stabilizer my stitched word gets all messed up. I pressed down on it too! What am I doing wrong 😩
Thanks for the good tips! The sewing seems like an easy method. (This will be my first try at hand embroidery). And trying on the shirt to determine proper placement is a great idea! Craft day tomorrow! Thanks!
isobelle robinson you could, the tracing paper should be a good quality so it won't tear too easily as you stitch. Also just be aware it might blunt your needle. 😊
Is there any reason you started stitching the word from the “r” instead of the beginning with the “c”? Also, should I use a piece of stabilizer on the back of my fabric? Awesome video, thanks for sharing!
So if you're using a super dark thread on light fabric, you can give the thread a quick warm, soapy bath before you use it. But most quality embroidery threads shouldn't be a problem. X
Hi I’m a new sewer and I want to do this for a Christmas jumper but I have no sewing equipment at all. Would anyone be able to help either where to source these from or what I would need please? 🌲
Hi, you just need some embroidery needles, Stitch'n'Tear and some embroidery thread. Any online haberdashery will do it, depends where in the world you are? x
I think I used a size 5 embroidery needle. You can use a hoop if you'd rather. It's just a personal preference, but don't stretch the fabric too tightly in the hoop. x
You are so young and talented! Thank you for the the clear instructions. This is my first try.
Aww thank you. Happy sewing! x
Your voice makes me want to cozy up with tea and a blanket, and listen to you read Pride & Prejudice
Also thank you for this video! Super helpful!!!
Hahah thanks!! x
Thank you so much for this vid. Extremely informative and helpful.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks! 🧡
Great Vid. I love that you did your own thing and not copied designer wear like many others!!!
Thanks so much. X
Great tutorial, thanks! xx
That was sooo good!!!! I am gonna do this for sure🥰🥰🥰 and have a nice day✌️♥️♥️♥️ STAY SAFE
Aww thank you Maria! Happy stitching! x

Either your stitches aren't tight enough when you sew, try doing smaller stitches and making sure they overlap slightly. x

My absolute pleasure Julie! Happy stitching! :) x
Hi! Is there anything else I do besides make a knot on the back after I’m done? I’m scared it will come undone when I wash?
No I just did a tight knot. I've washed mine hundreds of times. If you're worried, you could iron on some fusible interfacing to the back? x
Could I use tracing paper instead of trace and tear?
isobelle robinson you could, the tracing paper should be a good quality so it won't tear too easily as you stitch. Also just be aware it might blunt your needle. 😊
Ahhh! thank you so much!
My pleasure! 😊
Also, do they wash well?
How did this wash?
Absolutely fine, I've washed it maybe 20 times since! x
What’s the paper called to trace on the sweater?
I usually use Stitch'N'Tear which is the best stuff. x
Wondering what you do when you come to a curved section?
I don’t change anything, small consistent stitches is all you need. X
How does it stay when washed? I feel it might fall out
Mine has stayed in since I made this video years ago! x
Can you use thicker thread and what do you do if your words are separate?
Yes you can and you just tie it off at the end of each word.
Is there any reason you started stitching the word from the “r” instead of the beginning with the “c”? Also, should I use a piece of stabilizer on the back of my fabric? Awesome video, thanks for sharing!
Yes to stabiliser if it's a thin garment. And no reason for starting with the 'r' was probably easier to film at that angle haha. x
Wud deffo try this!!!
should i use an embroidery hoop to make the process easier or should i be fine doing it how you did?
Entirely up to you. If you're struggling with holding it, you might find a hoop useful. x
How do I make the thread not dye the hoodie when I wash it?
So if you're using a super dark thread on light fabric, you can give the thread a quick warm, soapy bath before you use it. But most quality embroidery threads shouldn't be a problem. X
@@Jessalli thank you so much!!
Would you apply this technique if you want to sew a single letter inside of a hoodies sleeve?
Yes exactly. The only tricky thing is gaining access to the inside really. But you can use this technique anywhere x
Could you do this with a water soluble stabilizer as well rather than the tear?
Yes you can. x

@@Jessalli thanks so much for replying! I live in the uk! Will have a little shop around, thank you! X
What size needle
Hi Jada, I think we chatted on Instagram, but for anyone else a size 5 embroidery needle is fine. x
what size needle should i buy for this? is it helpful/worth it to purchase a small embroidery hoop for this?
I think I used a size 5 embroidery needle. You can use a hoop if you'd rather. It's just a personal preference, but don't stretch the fabric too tightly in the hoop. x
How did you find/choose the font you used?
I just chose one I liked on the computer. x
Thank you!
Super cute!! I do DIY projects on my channel as well.
Thank you! I'll check your videos out! :)
