Well, I haven't even reached high school yet (I am 13). My friends don't know anything about this, which will make things hard for them. Don't know if you'll see this or not, but I've watched a bunch of your videos and you mention that the P/E isn't the end all be all, an that we need to ensure the company's fundamentals are on track. I searched to see if you had a video about what basic fundamentals you might look for, and it brought me back to the basics. So if you do see this, what are the general fundamentals you look for in a company and/or what are some examples of good or bad fundamentals you've seen?
Thanks so much in advance, your videos have been very enlightening and have really sparked my drive to try and figure out the financial world, and hopefully stabilize my own finances.

Hi there! I may cover this at some point but here are three things I consider fundamentals. It’s late and I’m probably forgetting something but these are the high level areas I go over:
      - Historical performance (revenue growth, margins)
      - Balance sheet and it’s trends (debt, cash on hand, etc.)
      - Strategy (what is the company doing on a forward-looking basis? What are the growth estimates and what’s the risk around it?)
Hope that helps! You can expand this to external analysis of their industry and the economy, but those are the company’s fundamentals

It's pretty simple actually. Don't invest any cash you need within 10 years and make sure you're investing in solid companies. Don't look at the ticker price every day or week, and each month take your extra cash and invest in that solid stock. Where is McDonalds going, or Johnson and Johnson? There will be years were you lose 20+ %, but those companies aren't going to just disappear. They'll give you dividends for sticking it out!

Inflation is actually the increasing of the money supply
The definition was changed by Keynesian economists to mean "price inflation" so they can manipulate the economy and the cpi numbers to claim they are printing less than they are
They also use hedonics and leave out food and gas from the cpi numbers.

    • @Mythyc
      @Mythyc 4 года назад +1

For anyone who takes this guy seriously, I took a few moments of my time to see what they use for CPI numbers.

3:30 why it's important to 'invest' reasons. Should actually be obtainable via old fashion 'saving'.
One should not have to unnecessarily risk a lifetime of work on the speculation of companys' EPS. Especially if one doesn't know how to read a 10-k filing.
This is the problem with investing, everyone thinks it's easy passive income. Not understanding how it works and more importantly where the money comes from.

If you had some troubles in your early years of adulthood, just starting a new study with the age of 30, not expecting to earn real money before 35, then you can end up really screwed (hello me). Especially when you hit one or another obstacle on the way, which is a statistical certainty. No wonder so many people burn out in their midst 40s, realizing, no matter how hard they work, it's impossible to reach any reasonable retirement goal, because they had made some stupid mistakes decades earlier. Really begs the question, why students never learn about finances, so that they could stop making those mistakes.

Saving/investing to complement your pensions? This made sense for the Baby Boomer generation.
However, in this increasingly unsettled/unstable world, this strategy is very limited.
Sure, the stocks and bonds are a given of the economic machine; but their returns have not been great since the GFC. With flat savings account rates, inflated property prices, and multilayered debt, people are ushered to participate in the stocksmania, which, just like any bubble, is set to burst at some point, albeit deflating whatever money was thrown into it.
There simply is NO safe heaven, no guarantee of returns: financial investment has lost its meaning a long time ago.
The greatest wealth someone can build is to invest in themselves (Education & Health) and leverage these until as late as possible in life. The idea being that if you have great skills and you are in a good health, you will always be able to find a job to earn income until you are 70+, thereby reducing the need for an astronomical retirement package/saving.
