Recency bias and hope in the young guys will always come into play in these polls, nothing you can do about that. The main reasons we like the investing in young guys are.. 1. The chance at a huge profit 2. The bragging rights to say "we knew he was a stud from the start" Otherwise we would all just buy a nice Mantle/Mays/Aaron card and call it a day.
Great update Scott! My take? Great time to buy Machado, Goldschmidt and Arenado, the guys that are likely future Hall of Famers. And time to steer clear of Judge, Jose Ramirez, Witt, etc. until they come back down to earth...which they will.
Cardinals fan here and I love Arenado & Goldschmidt. 2 great players and probably better human beings. We all get older and lose a step or 2 but I think there is still a little gas left in the tank for these 2. Thanks for your hard work, Scottie!
Goldschmidt is on an island all by himself. He’s the oldest on the list (37 in a few days), he’s still maybe on that HOF borderline cusp and after this season, he’s a Free Agent, so does a team give him a 15th season ? It’s not a given, and if that doesn’t happen, does 62 WAR, about 360HRs and just over 2,000 hits get you to Cooperstown ? He feels like the kind of candidate right now who’ll stay on the ballot for the full 10 years but max out around 55-60% of the vote. For every 6 people who’ll say ‘Yep’, there’s 4 who’ll say ‘But………..’ Keep in mind, Joey Votto will be the perfect litmus test. He’s pretty similar to Goldy (3 more WAR, about 100 more hits and a handful less HRs, both with a few top 3 MVP finishes and 1 MVP each) so Votto’s HOF campaign will test the waters IF for some reason, Goldschmidt doesn’t come back in 2025.
I PC Ezequiel Tovar and his cards have gone up a lot since the season started. Psa 10 radiating rookie has went from 50-60 to consistently over 100. He continues to improve and he's still pretty dang young looks to be staying with the Rockies but we shall see lol. He seems very likeable too and to have a growing fan base.
I am going through my cards from the last 35 years. Can you do a video on what players from the big 3 American sports that I should be looking for in my collection? I know some players will be obvious. I am having a hard time finding this info. Thanks
I have been buying Yordan rc autos this year. Unbelievable how cheap they are compared to others. He doesn't play D, so that hurts a little. but looks at Juan Soto's D, average at best.
Vlady should be going up, but Bichette's drop not surprised. I see a lot of collectors starting to sell their Trout cards too. Soto cards are cheap also for some reason. I think its just the overall market and how there are just so many stars and rising stars right now.
Terrific video Scottie. There should be no huge surprises as MLB is becoming a young man’s sport. Gone are the days where you had until your late 20’s to figure things out. As a result of this, the speculative/investor side of Baseball has exploded. If you are a fan of an older player and still want to invest, it still is viable; you just have to realize there will be no upward trajectory on those cards as the peak has been hit. As for HOF, I’m with you there, I think Goldy will get in. Too many people lose sight of the fact that for almost all players, they land somewhere between 10 and 25% for first year eligibility (Assuming they survive that first cut) and move up slowly from there. ~ Not a first ballot guy.
Elly actually has to do something something to be in a top 3-4 MVP finish. The SB are great, but that's all he offers for now. A good season does not make a career. Being in the NL helps him though
@@garygordon3075 He is already in the top 3, how can you say he only offers SB when he has power, hits for average, top on defensive runs saved? Yes the NL helps but look at the MVP race for the NL he is in the top 4.
@@timmccray7507 He has an average amount of HR's so far, and even your grandma can steal bases with the new rules. My bigger point was that I need to see more than one good season from a player, no matter who it is
@@garygordon3075 I can't argue the one season but if my grandma can steal bases with the new rules why does he have more than a few teams. And if you look at the stats he is above average almost every category and he is 22 and talented more than almost any player.
Nothing to not like about him, except like all young studs these days, his cards already have HOF prices baked in. A lot could happen in the next 10 years that could derail it all.
I think Altuve is a great investment. He’s going to be a hall of famer, he has 0 autograph rookie cards, and very few rookie cards (only 2011 Topps Update, Bowman Draft and Bowman Sterling).
There’s the whole cheating scandal that will be associated with his name, and that’s enough to keep people away from his cards (for now). Maybe in 20 years, it’ll be forgotten/ forgiven, but then it may be too late for an increase in value as new players/ hype are introduced into the league.
Also, a regrettable item worth noting, the hobby is not as kind to Hispanic ballplayers, You can see it in the charts tbh and it's sadly something folks should be considering
The sportscard market makes zero sense. It is a popularity contest. Perhaps long term holds on some of these players may workout. Scottie do the same video 1 year from now. If you have historical data perhaps you can create charts
As a Brewers fan, I'll never like Manny Machado. I don't care if he's changed, and I understand it's illogical. However, that's fandom. When you intentionally try to injure a player in the Postseason, you lose my respect.
@@marcb.cardlab6750 He averages somewhere around 24 Home runs 80 RBIs 90 runs 20 steals sounds average to me. Then you see WAR and you think he’s so great. Don’t be a fool. Judge with your eyes.

Great list! Always wonder why Trea Turner rarely seems to be included with the rest of the top players, but maybe that's just me.
He doesn't wear enough chains or flip his bat like an ass so he gets no love 😂
Bobby Witt is the most likable player I know! And high upside!
💯.....He will be face of MLB for next DECADE. He's only 24!!!
I chose to invest in julio rather than witt. Definitely regret that now

No way Mookie should be at #2. He is a future Hall of Famer, but he is not that popular and he is not a household name like Judge or Harper.
No Adley Rutschman?!?!?!

Bobby Witts “offensive ceiling”…too early to call that.
I meant to say: "Have we seen his offensive season this year?". It was supposed to have been more of a rhetorical question. Thanks for the call out!

Maybe a last year on the ballot guy 😅 but in my opinion he'll be waiting on that phone call his entire retirement 💪🏻🫡
Unfortunately for all of you, most of us here are die-hard Jose Altuve fans! And we need to start showing respect to the Houston Astros.
Where is “here”? As in Houston?
I'm a Correa super collector
Great video 🎉
Really, really surprised that Gunnar wasn't voted in. He's right up there with Witt in my book
