Induction needs the right pots and pans as mentioned. Might I recommend a silicone rubber mat as well? Protects the hob from scratches and stops the pots/pans sliding around. They don't interfere with heating at all
You are s right, thats the "magic" from induction. Specialy on a sailboat. Silicone mat and..... NO sliding around, is that not just super!
Yes, the silicone mat is a great idea. In my home kitchen, I also put down paper towels if I'm cooking something in oil. Helps to keep the cooktop clean and prevent scratches.

Materials like Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Cast Iron are commonly induction compatible, while materials like copper, glass and aluminum are not. New boat looking amazing!

Yup, an easy way to check is to stick the pot with a magnet, the stronger it sticks to it, the better it'll heat up with induction. If it doesnt heat up at all, then it wont heat up with induction.
Also be aware that some pots are made of composite metals, so while it may be a little magnetic, it wont heat up food/liquids as fast as a proper induction one.
Yeah recently swapped out a ceramic cast iron fry pan for an induction compatible stainless steel but it definitely doesn't heat up as quickly. Bit lighter tho. Save weight or save power can't have both :(. Way easier to clean scrabbled eggs off the ceramic too!
Go with a properly seasoned carbon steel. Lighter than cast iron, heats up insanely fast and is basically indestructible@@julesmoto9022
Would also add that pots and pans which are compatible with induction but were previously used on gas stoves are advised not to be used on induction.
You will definitely need to check your pots and pans for induction compatibility. Most will have some markings to show it, but when in doubt, take a magnet. If it sticks, it should work, but best to get ones optimised for induction, as the difference in efficiency can be huge, as well as the evenness of the heating.

Ideally, you will want real stainless steel, which lasts forever but is heavy and expensive.
I use cast iron on my indication plates. Cooks better than the actual induction pans I bought. Love it.
It just won’t heat up/cook if it’s not induction compatible .. but by the video what they have is able to be cooked in. Most new cookware is induction friendly these days. I had to buy new saucepans & fry pans when I changed to induction last year .. my old good quality ones were over 20 yrs old
Love how you went against the norm in choosing what you love for the finishes on you boat! It’s YOUR boat and if you love it that’s all that matters. My husband and I have a 32 foot Catalina and he was just diagnosed with Parkinson’s at 61. He can still sail so we are going to enjoy it for as long as possible. Our favourite days on the water are when our kids and now our grandkids are with us. You are creating the most amazing memories with Lenny and Darwin and I enjoy watching your adventures immensely.💕 Bon voyage!!!

I just started watching you guys. Honestly I watch channels with fewer followers because they tend to be more real. It was great to see that even though you are a huge success you still share the real you. Just change your shutter speed to fix the flickering. Usually if you're shooting at 60p with a shutter of 120, just make your shutter 100 and it'll fix it.

Absolutely love how the interior came together. The choice is copper water taps is good for it's anti-microbial aspects and keeps it looking homey while still being light and serviceable anywhere in the world by just about anyone with a torch.

For the flicker, sometimes you can adjust the shutter angle or frame rate of the camera to match the sync rate of the lights. You can also buy lights that don’t flicker - but sometimes it’s determined by the voltage

How wonderful to see you on your first test run on the water! Your boat is beautiful and so technologically advanced! I love the kitchen cabinets with the copper hardware stunning! Your induction stove cooks by electromagnet energy, so you need to use cookware that has iron, like cast iron or layered cookware that uses iron. You can not use aluminum or stainless.
Can't wait for the kids to join you on a full voyage!

Not to worry too much about the lighting/flashing for me at least, it didn't trigger a seizure and flashing lights are a top trigger for me. If you guys are planning to head up to Japan, can I recommend you make a stop in at South Korea also. It's a very under rated country with beautiful islands (granted, no Bahamas, but beautiful in their own right), stunning nature, and incredible food. Also a safe haven from those Typhoons, as Japan catches most of them for us. ^^

As of the last couple episodes, I really do like the look of the boat, I just would've made slightly different choices. I would've went a shade or two brighter for the yellow of the hull, less wood wallpaper, and a few spots with white paint, but it is a great looking boat. And I gotta say, I LOVE the table and cushions! Looks so cozy
