Also it would be ironic if these 20 year olds are actually smarter than the idiots in Prometheus and Covenant.
I saw the original Alien film when I was a kid. I was horrified and in awe of the film at the same time. Plus I fell in love with HR Gigers art work. The zeno was so original in its appearance and life cycle that it really worked and an alien life form.
Where had it come from? Why was it so brutal? Why the two stage life form and what of the alien bone ship with its deadly cargo? And the space jockey??? This was pretty much as good as the zeno itself.
I read a lot of books as a kid around the film and noted that the zeno lifecycle used the face hugger to obtain DNA from the host in order for the zeno to have a better chance of being able to live in the hosts world or environment. It was super aggressive in the Nostromo because it was alone with no other zenomorphs to " educate it. "
I thought Aliens was also an excellent film and liked the Queen zeno but admit to loving the idea of egg morphing a captured life form into a face hugger and egg, truly horrific and nightmare inducing as the zeno itself.
The unanswered questions from the first film made it soo "Alien." that you would have to be such a good story teller and creator to bring good ideas to the table to answer them that I don't think they ever will be.
Modern films today are mostly ill thought out and poorly executed. Just a cash grab and nothing more.
instead we get re hash and cash in films that are easy to make and have no decent cannon connection to the original. Or story for that matter.
The film industry should have left Alien alone after the 2nd film. Ridley Scotts prequel films COULD have been brilliant but we're mediocre at best. Very disappointing.

Not gonna lie ,some of the leaks sound garbage, Im not a fan of hybrid aliens, and the societal dislike of androids sounds like it could get preachy, other than that I like some of the setup, of stealing the cryo chambers and the space station setting sounds great, I hope this is good
Too similar to Blade Runner
They did the hybrid alien in alien resurrection. Basically alien 4 and it's bizarre. The stealing cryo tubes is similar to that story as well where pirates hijack cryo tubes and sold it to scientists studying aliens and reverse engineering them for weapons.

@@lukerhodes216 I saw it in theaters back then and thought it wasn't terrible and at least they brought Ripley back for one more round. Yeah not sure how Disney will handle it but TBH I didn't think Disney would even greenlight another alien as it's not really in their genre of films and on top of that the box office for covenant was poor so we're lucky to even get another alien movie.
I thought the newborn was terrifying way more than the average xeno, the only thing it misses was the lower body should have been more alien
I like the thought of many xenomorphs bouncing around the station. Really ramps up the action aspect
Sounds pretty dumb to me. If there is any sense of realism to this film, what do the dozens of facehuggers eat to sustain themselves ? Do they go into hibernation along with the xenomorphs, or is this just another dumb monster movie ?

If I remember from the scraped Prometheus scripts, the black goo was actually the blood from a previous Deacon type alien that the Engineers worshiped (The one in the mural) and used it's blood to try seed life on other planets. Idk, it's something like that.

It's possible. In the comics the goo is supposed to be some DNA mutation catalyst that changes one into monsters like we see in Prometheus.

Black goo is weaponized deacons blood. The golden goo "deacons blood" is what gave engineers the ability to procreate again through sacrifice. They experimented and weaponized it into the black goo.
It is not "scrapped" script,it IS from Prometheus,but in editing of the film idiots removed big parts of engineer stuff,that's why it was poorly explained what the engineers do,why they do it,what the goo is,what the anthenema is (Fifield monster etc.)

Alien films can’t get away with gore and lore anymore. You NEED characters. So when I hear they’re “serviceable” that doesn’t give me any hope.
Yh it's like the current problems with the Monsterverse. Minus One showed you need and can do human characters to produce drama and interesting protagonists in a monster movie. Legendary just need to step up their game.

Well David hijacked the ship and something happened that crashed the ship and all the colonists on board ended up as food for more aliens. Not sure how it ties back to the space jockey in first alien though. Suspect maybe David crossed paths with space jockey and they fought and both their ships crashed. It didn't end well for both. Such a movie likely wouldn't do well in the box office so they're taking a new story direction but I would like to continue the story though.
Uhm, unless they're to retcon the hell out of "Alien", it CAN'T be the same ship, because the one on LV-426 has been there for a very long time, as stated explicitly by the characters when they found it.
I don’t understand why Weyland Yutani would leave that space station abandoned. The Xenomorphs are like the most important thing in the galaxy to them.
Knowing how the company rolls, it's likely a intentional trap. Just like the first two movies. The company knew the crews were expendable and that only keeping the creatures alive is what matters.
The Xenomorph's are a military weapon to Weyland Yutani, the black-goo was a whole new bio-technology that could be used in many different ways. Here's a scenario : What if the black-goo and the Xenomorph life-cycle was technology that Weyland Yutani stole from the dominant species in our part of the universe ? ( the dominant species being something higher up the evolutionary rungs than humans or the engineers ) And Weyland Yutani knew that this species was coming to collect it's stolen tech. ( i.e. WY had f*cked humanity and a planetary war was coming to pay a visit to WY on Earth )
Sounds like small pieces of the Alien novel titled The Cold Forge is being used incorporated as well (experimenting with the black goo and the xenos). Also the dynamic between the two lead characters is similar to the Alien young adult novel Echo. Part of me is worried, but part of me is very intrigued. What would be a really cool twist is if they decided to do Ridley's original ending of no survivors. They could do it if it's a stand alone film.
Sounds too safe to me but will see what happens. I hope it ties in David from Prometheus and Covenant in some way just to give them closure.

All sounds pretty interesting, apart from (for me) the human hybrid sounding alien. I mean in the expanded lore, books, comics etc don’t they take on traits and genetic material from their hosts anyway, so are kinda hybridised anyway… obviously will get a better opinion when I’ve seen it of course, think the Newborn has still left that bad taste in my mouth. But haunted house in space again, that sounds promising
the original giger suit looked like a man fused with a spacesuits. not sure why they need to make it even more human. all the have to do is bring the original design with the skull
@@CoolGobyFish that’s exactly it, the work Giger did for the original is unsurpassed, I get why people try to do more, so it isn’t as repetitive, but nothing touches those original designs (even now I still spend hours flicking through his art-books soaking in those designs) hopefully if the atmosphere is done right this may surprise
It could be half human half alien but it's been done in alien resurrection and it wasn't that great. What they need is a new direction something new. Though I'd like to continue with David's story to see what happened.
Been there, done that with ALIEN. ( if you ever want to ruin the ALIEN experience, try watching the Xenomorph fight scenes with the sound off. Because they move so slowly ( limitation of the suits the alien actors had to wear ) and they can't really grab or break anything, the Xenomorphs become paper-tigers without the sound effects. )
I really hope that Prometheus and Covenant can be wrapped up.

Both were great stories delving into the origin of aliens. They have to finish David's story arc and can't leave it open. At least give it a mention what happened on the ship with all the colonist.

Yep, it's gonna be shite, just as I thought and just like 4,5, and 6. As soon as you mentioned the "newborn" you confirmed that I'll only watch this for free and only when I'm not doing something more interesting, laundry for instance. I don't know how they keep fxxking this up. They've got such fantastic base material, but they do it every time, same comments with Predator. AVP is the best thing since Alien 3 (which is ace) by a foxtrotting mile. I just rewatched Promethius and Covenant this weekend and, I can confirm i was right the first time, they are both shite. Good video though mate and thanks for helping me make up my mind :-). PS. I was 19 when Alien was released, i saw it on the silver screen at the Odeon in Leeds and it was magnificent, i consider myself to be very, very lucky in that :-) Regards Gee

Sounds pretty good, it kinda reminds me of Scavengers Reign, that fantastic Hbo Max show that nobody seemed to ever cover. (anyone who likes hard sci fi should definitely give it a go)I hope we get some original style Engineers more akin to the Space Jockey's from the first movie.
Not really excited about a new xenomorph since every movie since Aliens has shown a new variant, as well as the comics and video games. Nothing really beats the original Giger design IMO.

There's an audio-comic here on YT that dubbed the comic where there's a Space Station that is doing experimentation with Xenomorphs, and they made a way for the Xenomorph to infest someone through a like spray or gas. Instead of a burster coming out of the host, it actually transform the host into a Xenomorph, and there were a bunch of other experimental and new types of Xeno-variant types all over the place, pretty cool imo.
Sounds like it may be pulling some inspiration from that which sounds great imo, and them making this a continuation from the last 2 is also great. I really was hoping to see something that would weave into the overall lore better than the last 2 did. Also, I wonder if this movie will include or mention what David did at the end of Covenant, or if that will be a part of a different movie/series or whatever they plan to do with that story thread.
I have a better outlook on this than I did yesterday so, guess we'll just have to wait and see it when it comes out!
IIRC, that was one of the earlier concepts for Alien3 before they decided to kill off Newt n Hicks. A sort of Cold War in space with Xenos to force the peace.

There was such missed opportunity with a Trilogy starting with Prometheus. Instead we got 2 sequel films all repeating the same old plot from ALIEN: “Run away from alien in cramped spaces”
I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm very excited to see the new creature designs/variations, and the plot does sound good.

Another bit of info that avp galaxy seems to have confirmed is that all the xenos here come from Big chap (the alien from the first movie), they recovered his remains and have been experimenting on it
Correct. The remains of Big Chap are found in deep space at the start of the movie and taken to the space station Romulus. There his DNA is somehow retrieved, then reverse engineered to reveal the black goo. From this the scientists create a new strain of the pathogen and a new Alien emerges and WHAM!. I'm not exactly a fan of this BTW. For me it would've been better if Big Chap survived inside a shell or something, and accidentally gets released to then create more havoc, perhaps even reuse the Alien cocoon scene to breed more of the creatures, with him then changing into something else we've never sern before... an Alien King.
Why do they always have to redesign the alien? Hearing that immediately takes me out of wanting to watch it. I wasn't overly interested in this one before and I'm still not sure about it.

@infamouskid954 unfortunately the whole idea the alien was designed and not natural creature isn't compelling. It actually ruins it. So them continuing with it is only going to make it worse.
They need to refresh the franchise but not sure if new aliens is the answer. Prometheus covenant was great and hope they give it a mention to tie up the story.

Peter Weyland knew of the ships existence during the events of Prometheus, you can read his files on the special features of the Prometheus blu ray where he states that a faint signal has been detected on LV426 the sister moon of LV223.

They might mention David in some prologue but it's not a stretch to imagine David created alot of aliens on the ship and lost control of them and the ship crashed. It might even tie into first alien where space jockey was carrying alien goo or eggs as a bio weapon and it got out so he crashed the ship. Similar thing will happen.
There is a piece of info that was released about 2 weeks ago where director Noah Hawley, director of the upcoming ALIEN series discussed with Ridley Scott not only the aesthetics of the Human technology as being as gritty over at least the 3 original movies and why they are not advanced as with our current tech within the established timelines and in contrast with Prometheus and Covenant. The thing is that there is this Super Computer Virus released by the Monks from the William Gibson ALIEN 3 script that has damaged technology to the point of having it be sort of retro, and the Prometheus and Covenant ships are one of a kind each due to WY investing Trillions of dollars in them. And the Computer Virus has never been able to be destroyed, keeping Human technology as less advanced as we hoped to see and why it favors the original 3 films well.
That was the coolest part to explain the 3 original movie aesthetics in Tech, and their contrast with Ridley Scott's last movies. But here is the cream of the crop, since Disney is now Owners of FOX, they didn't like Scott's story paths with Prometheus and Covenant, and they demanded changes to be more directed in line with the original 3 movies. As such, Hawley discussed his idea for the Xenomorph origins, which is that neither creatures from the Scott's last films ARE Xenomorphs, but experimental variants, derived from actual Xenomorph DNA, which is the Black Goo Accelerant.
The actual Xenomorphs on the 3 original movies are NATURAL Xenomorphs, specifying that the species was not created by anyone, neither the Engineers, nor David, and not even the Space Jockeys which now are within the ALIEN universe as a separate race from the Engineers (as they should be). The Xenomorphs are a natural ancient species, Millions of Years old, and a product of Millions of years of Evolution. And as per Hawley, Ridley Scott LOVED the ideas, so now this is canon, and Scott's last two films are basically Side Stories within the ALIEN universe and in line with what Disney wanted and supposedly this would feature a bit on ROMULUS but mostly on the ALIEN series, so we'll see.

The problem with coming up with new xenomorph designs is that the only person who could do it properly was H R Giger and he is sadly no longer with us, when other people start messing with his concepts the results are almost always utter trash. He was the only one who got it, these other artists might be talented but Giger was a genius and they just aren't even close to that level.
Every new entry into the franchise just dilutes his legacy even further, I find it sickening.

Just watched Alien again last night, With what Prom and Covenant did to the cannon, How are they going to get to LV426 and find the Space Jockey who is carbonized due to old age. But in the film it was code 437 or something that the science officer had the details, so Weyland/Yutani did know that the derelict was sending that warning/rescue out, that means they would know about Prom and Cov but never got a specimen? so that's why in Alien they do get the coordinates for LV426? any thoughts?
“Humanoid face with an elongated body” makes me think the final creature will resemble Pumpkinhead
I think the big problem with the later alien films is we know what to expect. The first one was great because we didn't see the alien until the end. The second one was good because it was wall-to-wall action. Sadly the rest were predictable rubbish. Scott took himself and the story far too seriously when he went down the ridiculous 'engineers' route. It sounds like this one is back to the old tried and trusted 'scary monster in a confined dark space killing everyone' format. Should be a winner.
Bunmed out by the fact that we won't get a resolution as to what happened to david and the Covenant...but that was to be expected
Curious about the new creature. Almost describes the Alien Clone skin in Dead by Daylight. Or perhaps like the concepts/alternative Fifield mutant in Prometheus.

So far this all lines up! New trailer dropped today and we see a lot of the things mentioned here 💪
Will certainly watch this, hope it has loose ties to Prometheus/Covenant to give it closure.
Main concern is the predominantly young cast, I'm not really for a teen slasher with Aliens type of movie.
Also, while all these new xenos, loads of facehuggers and everything might sound nice, I hope they've realised the Aliens work in short controlled bursts - without the tension being built up you don't get the pay off. The threat of them should be just as terrifying as when they actually strike/attack.
My main concern is that it turns out to be a dumb Xenomorph monster movie. We already have way too many of those...
Early image depicts a version of a Pulse Rifle, so this sounds like a greatest hits compilation for Alien.
Ok I'm very excited now.. The setting and set-up alone sound great.

Maybe its like an alien action horror and psychological slasher movie.
I’m trying to stay hopeful. If you were to talk about the plot of Alien 3 for example without have seen it, it would sound like a terrible film. But, it’s an excellent movie in my opinion, highly underrated. I think one of the things that made the first 3 alien films special was that each director had their own style. My hope is that this director has a unique style and still manages to capture some very tense and gory moments.
I wanted a sequel to covenant because of the cliffhanger at the end of the movie, but this sounds pretty interesting, I'm kinda hyped

Sounds interesting but I'm worried we're getting Resurrection 2.0 with that twist hybrid. I hope this is good, but I'll do like I did with Prey and wait for your review before I watch it. Lead characters being 'kids' ... High probability that several of them will be unwatchable.
ANOTHER hybrid Alien that has a humanoid-like face ... These films always try to create something 'new', when the truth is NOTHING comes close to the original Aliens.

I think it sounds like it has the potential to be as bad as Covenant and maybe reach Alien Resurrection levels of good (meaning still awful just not as bad as covenant).

Just to pull up the obvious plot hole here.. where did Romulus get the xenomorph?? Because the only batch left was what David worked on and smuggled onto Covenant. Thrres a HUGE hole requiring filling still between Covenant & Romulus

I'm SO happy that there is actually going to be something new and cool in this one. I felt so alienated by the trailer as it was so fucking boring and samey, I just couldn't get excited, it looked like the laziest copypaste job I'd ever seen. But hearing that the reverse engineered aliens will be different in some capacity, even if it's a subtle one (I didn't care for how close David's praetomorphs were to the XX121 species, they really should have been more creative, but if they're using black goo direct from big chap that seems more plausible), as well as a brand new genetic mutant alien fills me with hope. I'm really wanting to see more praetorians and some different hosts other than humans, those are always at the top of my list for a new alien movie when belugaheads are out of the question (seriously they're in the RPG I want them in a movie make it happen), but honestly ANY new content whatsoever is the bare minimum to at least get me to give a shit. Who knows if it'll end up being any good, but at least I know now I won't be just walking into a movie I've already seen.
...little worried about the cast potentially being annoying teenagers, though. They already tried that in an alien movie and it didn't go so well. I don't care if they're young I just don't want the counselors from a Jason movie.

I know a lot of folks hated Prometheus and Covenant but I loved them. I also loved all of the originals (minus 4 and the AVP nonsense) so im usually excited for anything Alien/s.
But will they be good variations? I think Colonial Marines got the best variations, and it was nice to see a bunch in Fireteam, i just didn't like the artistic change done with them.

They've really screwed themselves over with these prequels. That new alien sounds a lot like the baby from alien resurrection, but with a tail. Noone seems to want to steer the ship back on course.
Maybe Noah Hawley's TV show will save the franchise??
Well Ridley Scott did a great job IMO with Prometheus and covenant but I think the box office wasn't big enough so studios want to try something different. I enjoyed both and would like the story to continue though.
The Kids must be survivors from the Covenant ship colony, assuming they reached Origae-6, the point is from where the face huggers reached the Romulus space ship?!! Especially the story takes place between Alien and Alien!! Unless they reached the station by the Covenant ship and David work, in this case it is a prequel to Alien and an indirect sequel for Covenant
This feels like the alien lab or the marine one. One the marine comics has an elevator that delivers like 100 facehuggers on the marines it’s a great panel . I just don’t remember the exact comic it was
