      A friend of mine woke up in ICU intubated for 3 days after going from 8-9mg/day to nothing. Quitting abruptly can be fatal if you're taking much more than a therapeutic dose.

    It took me 3 weeks of every day taking as prescribed, and i was hooked. I remember first time i run out of them. Irritability, anger. Tolerance is building, so you must increase the dosages. For me, i had taking them every day for 5 years. While stopped, i lost my job, couldn't go out of the house because the anxiety really was over the roof. I hardly managed to go to a grocery shop, i went out only at night, so that less people could see me and stuff like that. The worst part of it was, that this was going on for me constantly every day for several years before i get back to normal. It really took me too much of my time and energy.

    After ten years 2 mg Clonazepam, I started a five year taper. I still felt miserable some days, but needed to function. Good news is when I finished the taper, there was no post acute withdrawal, except for a bit of burning on the soles of my feet. My toes felt like an elephant was standing on them, they kind of buzzed. Been benzo free since January 2020. I would advise go slow if you've been on high doses for a long time. It might save you years of misery. BTW, A relative was CTd by his doctor. He died, alone in his living room. That should be illegal to cut someone off CT. We thought we were taking a sleeping pill.

      I’m so sorry you went through that but you bring up a very good point. It should be illegal to cold turkey patients off addictive medication, maybe for ones that will just be painful like opioids but definitely the ones that are super dangerous like anti depressants, benzos and even gabapentin/pregabalin. I find it so insane that people like me, a drug addict who grew up with the internet, know more about how dangerous these meds are than actual doctors. I’ve heard from a couple people and I agree as an opioid addict that benzo abuse is more dangerous than coke and heroin. It’s even crazier to me how normalized it was in older generations which was all blown up by the “xandemic” that hit gen Z hard. We thought it was a safe or atleast safe-ish drug because it was so normalized and even promoted… until most of us had horrific experiences with them and a few of us developed horrible dependencies that made opioids look not that addictive.
      Again so sorry you went through that and your relative paid the ultimate price because of criminal negligence levels of incompetence. Thank god it was never my favourite thing but heavy benzo abuse always seemed to coincide with the worst parts of my struggles with addiction and mental health. This just comment really triggered me after seeing some doctors be so dumb

So they called me the opposite because while I was taking the Xanax it was hurting me and when I went off of the Xanax it was hell on earth with the withdrawal. I couldn’t feel my stomach my private parts . I couldn’t feel when to go to the bathroom. When the pressure in my head was so bad I go to the bathroom. And I could barley walk . The pressure is how I knew I probably need to go to the bathroom by the pressure in my head. I don’t even want to talk about the doctor they don’t know anything told me to stop taking the pill and I would be OK in three days. Life was so hard wanting to come off these things and not being able to. I prayed and prayed to God for years to help me come off. I found out about the Ashton Manual and had to basically teach my PA about it and she agreed. I finally fully submitted my life over to Jesus and I'm almost 5 years clean. I was in process of admitting in a detox from benzo a 2yr run.i remember going into the elevator and waking up in a hospital. I was told i went into a black out from withdrawals. They gave me Ativan to help doctors had to increase the dosage because i had a few more seizures. Its the worst detox for me harder than opioids and booze. And my son had to witness this horrific scene. I hurt him so bad. His love is a huge part in me to staying clean. Been 3yrs. 😊

    • @RedWolfenstein
      @RedWolfenstein 7 месяцев назад +1

      Do you take it everyday? My best advice is to wien slowly until you can't wean anymore then switch to less heavy benzo like Ativan then do the same thing, then when you do quit use something thats similar but not a benzo.

    Hey man, I thought I'd just set the record straight on a couple of the facts you are misinformed with just to help out the viewers. For one, if you're not abusing benzos they actually inhibit dopamine and low dosages which means they decrease dopamine. Lastly, brainsaps are associated with serotonin withdrawal not Gaba withdrawal which would be from benzos. I've been through withdrawal from almost every substance and my passion is pharmacology and neuroscience. So, if anyone wants help, just let me know.

It barely worked and just put me to sleep but now its the next day and i still feel like shit. Should i try and taper off or go to the hospital

    Hello. I have stopped since January 6. I used for only one month 0,25 - 0,50 mgs, but now I feel like I am going crazy, vision and space seems weird, I'm irritable and unpatient. I don't know is it because of my anxiety or because of withdrawal symptoms, and how long does it last?

    • @Soberdogs
      @Soberdogs  2 года назад +1

      I would say its probably a combination of both things. The anxiety not having its crutch or med to help it and also some minor withdrawal. Its very important to find other ways to cope with the anxiety. I hope it all works out for you stay strong.

    Never got v withdrawals from benzo. I used to take 4mg Xanax and 4mg Klonopin every night, woke up feeling great. One night i thought it would be a great idea to snort 8mg of Xanax, i slept for 24 hours straight. But when i quit i don't remember any withdrawals. Probably because the opioid withdrawals were so horrible.
    Edited to add here 20 years later i was recently put on .25 Xanax 15 day supply 2a a day and i can take it "as needed" without binging on it. Though i will admit i do chew them.

    • @waynegrow

      Yes indeed. Whatever sleep you have . You wake like a hangover feeling. Because it works on same receptors as alcohol. Benzos are like alcohol in a pill. Bad news.

    Benzos scare the shit out of me. I've been prescribed quite a few psych meds throughout my life and childhood, from antidepressants to antipsychotics to even anti-seizure meds due to some issues I had. Recently, my doc was recommending a benzo for the occasional panic attacks I get and I was like FUCK NO.

    I was a pharmaceutical rep back in the 1980s when Xanax and Halcyon were big. Samples were everywhere. I would routinely take 4-5 2mg. bars a day with Halcyon at night. I went through the withdrawal cold turkey several times and would drink a ton of water and jog just to make to go quicker. I don't think it's as bad as hard opiates but it's close. Different, that's for sure. I hate it now, pure poison.
