It's a shame this didn't go bigger, people of a certain age in the UK will remember, but it should go down as one of the greatest episodes in TV.

honestly this episode is brilliant, and Angus takes it soo well, He brought it all upon him self of course.. But he did not doo anything that wrong, it is just a shame that he could not really carry on as his "Holyier than though" Schtic was what made him such a great host, and when contestants could just fire back at him and de-fang him it really hurt the show.
He did wrong took the punishment and carried on remember, this scandle was not the real reason he had to leave the show, it was a damn shame to lose him because his sarcastic tone was a great fit.

@@elleryeggen9678 it was actually because the people they brought on the show could attack him back, christine hamilton embarrassed him and the producers knew they could not keep him on.

Didn't do anything wrong? Slept with a prostitute? Cheated on his wife? No thought of the impact on his kids? 😂

@@christopherpenny6083---- Not everyone has the same moral code as you, and Angus didn't hurt anyone (the hooker apparently had a great time with him lol), so why all the hate? What happens between him and his family is none of our business, and for all we know his wife knew all about it. I think it's a damn shame he got fired.

@@michaelj.beglinjr.2804 he appears on a show in which he takes the moral high ground and criticises things the guests have done. If every guest replied with "well that's nothing compared to what you did" (which they did), the comedy dies flat, which it did in subsequent episodes. This is not a moral thing necessarily, it's a case of his actions making it impossible for him to fulfil his character/role on the show. Everyone - Angus included - agreed it would be best that he left

Paul and Ian really did give Angus too much hell over this so-called scandal. Angus didn't do anything nearly as "bad" as the typical British politician does, and he did what millions and millions of ordinary people do every day. Angis didn't hurt anyone, and he did not pay for a prostitute, but Ian and Paul treated him as if he was Pol Pot or something. I wish Angus would get another show, as I really like his presentation and humor. Oh well.

I have more respect and admiration for Angus after watching this than I did before. What a guy to start with that opening line and take all the ribbing so well. He messed up and he fessed up. Well and good on him. Teaches us that life is based on how we look at it. Apart from the drugs, he didnt do anything illegal as he did not know the girl was a prostitute. Sad that he had to go after this scandal, but had he stayed on HIGNFY it would have been untenable, given how merciless they are to others. Sad.

Just watched this after the Jimmy Carr tax evasion episode of 8oo10c. I thought that was rough, but wow this crew did not hold back at all. Jimmy Carr got off easy compared to this.

Wow, the most underwhelming scandal of all time: "Celebrity does hooker and blow". Quite the norm, especially for a comedian... and whatever Hugh Grant is.

OOh WHEE when you tarnish the brand you're pretty much dead
HIGGY Is ian's Baby, Angus' shenanigans tarnished the good name of the show and this was just the First Offence. Then it was Scandal, now it's light entertainment. We're all a bit 'tarnished' since then.

many people think ian and paul were too harsh on angus and his eventual sacking was a mistake. but they do not realise that the show needs a bit but necessary moral high ground in order to ridicule public figures and what they have done. angus, being the presenter and moderator of some sorts between teams, is a crucial part of it and his controversies damaged his standing. he was on thin ice after the first barrage of allegations. and when the second wave of allegations came out, his time as the show's presenter is finished. zilch. fin. i actually sympathise with angus and think he ought to have a proper send off but alas.

I liked Ian and Paul's reaction in this episode, but I cringe at their attacks on Angus a few months later when they made him quit the show. While this is good natured and well deserved ribbing to lower the tension, that last show displays a shocking lack of compassion and empathy from Ian and Paul. Okay if they thought Angus had to go, bad form to run him off the show on camera and it reflects badly on them both.
