Seems if you’re getting the shovel under that easy and far you are not hitting any screws. So you lucked out the previous person laid the concrete board incorrectly. 👍
I’m planning on replacing my tile floor with vinyl plank flooring. Would it be best to use this method and remove the backer board w the tile to get down to the subfloor? From there I assume I can put down a layer of plywood before laying the floating floor. thanks for any advice anyone can offer

Is it hard to pry off the cement board since they are held on by screws? Was the subfloor damaged?

That’s not a bad idea try a shingle ripper they work wonders
It’s great if backer is not screwed down

Why not cut it in square pieces with a diamond tipped circular saw... Then pry up the pieces?
