If you duplicate the alignment holes, you can not only use one set yo “snip” the pattern, but also individually frame each. To make things easier, individually framing would be easier BEFORE grouping, and then you can always keep a set there to verify nothing got bumped before running too. Extra tool paths are almost never a bad thing, so if you have a duplicate on that tool path layer, not typically an issue
Very nice results. Noob question: Do you have to have safety glasses on when setting up material on the table with trace light or only when you are engraving?
Hi! Thank you for your content so much! I learned a lot of things! Out of theme question, but i’m desperate, may be someone can help me: I’m engraving a photo on 70x80mm 0.5mm stainless steel piece, the laser program takes around 10 mins to complete. In the process, stainless steel gets bend by heat in an arc shape. Did someone come across this issue before me? If so, what could be done in your opinion? Thank you heartwarmingly!
What about using the print and cut feature in Lightburn? If you pick the centre of two screw as the alignment points it should scale it to fit perfectly.
Print and cut isn't really available on galvo like it is on gantry. Even with that, the same implementation I'm not sure would be as accurate as having a whole outlined shape to refer to, due to the physical size of the red dot. We have the outlining function with the red dot that basically serves that purpose, but we can live outline and see it unlike on a gantry where we have a head that would be flinging around.
Does 'apply mask to image' and 'flatten image mask' work with multiple cookie cutter shapes at once? What if the cookie cutters overlap? If not, is there a better way to get a pattern onto multiple (similar) overlapping shapes?
It kind of depends how you structure and do it, but if you group your shapes you are using as your mask (just like the vector style we did for the knife with multiple holes we sliced out), whether they are internal to each other or next to each other, you can still mask the same image. If the shapes aren't grouped, lightburn will not provide the option to apply the mask to the image if multiple vector outlines are highlighted and not grouped. That said, it sounds like you just want duplicates of the same thing maybe? If so, you can just do one and duplicate it after you get it masked, and then align the duplicates to the rest of your areas it's needed. Hope that helps!
Is there anyway to slow down the outline red trace laser to were its super slow showing the outlinetrace at all? would help me a ton I'm losing vision in an eye and its hard to keep up with it at its current setting. Thanks.
Absolutely! You can slow it down in lightburn with the red light speed controls in device settings from the top menu, and should be in the pop up window of options. In ezcad it’s in the f3 params
Hey Bingyan, yes, things have been busy. Reviews are processed in the order they are received. Please rest assured you are in the queue for processing and we'll be with you as soon as possible :)
Yes, it can be done for ezcad, but because ezcad doesn't have the same level of art tooling built in, you're going to need to utilize a second piece of software to fulfill that purpose of the prep. Once you have the different components prepped (template) you can do your boolean operation/masking to snip the design down using the template outline, then export that in a format ezcad will accept. The steps are more or less the same, but it is going to be functionally different in execution with different labeling and such. You can use adobe illustrator, inkscape, affinity design, but kinda the goal for this video was the ease and ability to do it all inclusively in lightburn just as fast or faster (since this would almost always traditionally be done in something like illustrator then exported to ezcad).

Is it possible to make a spoilboard squared to the laser by the leser? Similar to a CNC machine? Chat-gpt says no, I say it is possible beyond the focus grey area. Testing my theaory now. Let ya'll know what comes of it.....
Not wrong blades. He INTENDED for them to be on opposite sides of the blade like they are. Same blade, opposite sides lol. That way you get the answer by turning the utility knife over. XD
Excellent explanation and lots of great tips.
Haven't watched anything from yall in a while but very much enjoyed this video. Quality has improved so much over the years!
Thanks for popping by David, glad you think so. We've been working hard.
Great video! I love the dad jokes and that pattern is bad ass!
Thanks for watching Resin, great having you around!
Good stuff Kyle. This is why I'm an LMA member.
Thank you Sam! Always glad to have you around!
Great job, Kyle!!
Thanks broseph!
Exzellent tutorial! Thank you big time from Germany.🇩🇪
Danke!
Killer video. Gonna do my knife now.
glhf!
outstanding!
Thank you! Cheers!
Keep up the great Work, Great video.
Thank you!
Fantastic demo and walk through. When framing the holes, how did you jump through them individually "while" framing?

Only while you're engraving. The red "framing" light that was used to verify alignment on the bed is safe to view without the glasses.
GOOD job, Kyle!!!
Awesome!
Thanks!
excellent!
That scalable design file is cool. How'd you make it?
Thank you! Check out our most recent video (launched this week) that covers the basics!
Still new here. Great video! Where can I find these files?

The dad joke is that you got the joke and punch line on the wrong blades..... :)
Nah, around 21:00 you'll see it's intended to flip over to reveal the answer, so this layout is required.
