We have such communities of large minorities everywhere in Europe. All works well until radical nationalists or separatists start causing havoc which in some cases results in the radicalization of both parties and governmental interventions. So my first thought on this EU decision is that hungarian government did a big mistake to not support it. It is a shame for all hungarian people. Secondly, all candidate countries are partly occupied by russia... That means the situation is very difficult but we all hope that Ukraine will win this war with the help of all democratic countries.
He isn't entirely wrong. To my knowledge the magyar minorities in the provinces have been mobilized disproportionately in comparison to ukrainians living in the larger cities. This isn't new of course. The Russians mobilize a lot of yakut people while the americans during vietnam conscripted many unfortunate black youths. Usually the alternative is not having that group exist or be effective in the first place.
