  • Every now and then, I'm asked why I'm "imitating" the Peter Piper Routine. The reason is because just like a traditional musical instrument, studying what has come before can help you apply it and creating something unique later. Here's what the Jazzy Jeff inspired me to do.

Being the great teacher you are Pri, u have probably discussed in another posts how not only feeling every word is a thing, but that being able to craft the sound in your head fractions of a second before making the scratch sound the way you anticipate it to sound, is a thing. This translates to proper micro-phrasing. Without proper micro-phrasing, even a good scratch will go wrong if it's offbeat. Is this a sound hypothesis? ( excuse the pun ) 😎

That’s great in some cases, but in this video, it was more about finding a vocal phrase that lands on an 1/8th not, being in key, and playing it like drums.

@@priyonjoni thanks for the remarks. I wasn't suggesting anything negative about your video as it was masterful as usual. I was just wondering if it was a correct hypothesis to realize that making the scratch fit the 'rhythm' if you will, is important & would apply in any scenario.
