Where should I take Bernie next? 👀 thank you as always for watching, I hope you enjoyed our little adventure 😁 ❤
Someplace they don't speak English - Scotland, Ireland, or Wales?
That would ensure you get the same weather.
Try the Spanish (Med) coast. So many English travelers you will only miss the rain.
Ship him to Canada, come see the colonies:)
@@shakyhandpictures2185 You are not a former colony! The Dominion of Canada's laws laws still get signed by the monarch! Who also appears on your strange plastic bills and magnetic coins.
But a visit to the USA and maybe some of the Windies. If Bernie could handle ferries and tropical storms.
Bernie to Bardbados!!!
@@VagabondJim65lol, well, aren’t you the constitutional expert!
Suggesting a trip to the worst country on the planet makes me laugh!
Canada is certainly a colonial asset, stolen from the Indigenous peoples of North America! 70,000,000 Indigenous souls were murdered between 1492 and 1700, intentionally by the occupying powers. Myth believing Christian’s were hell bent on beating the “Indian” out of these original inhabitants.
Look up tandem paragliding, and try it. I was, and still are, afraid of heights, but nonetheless, it has become an activity that gives me so much each time i go out flying. There are several flying sites across the uk.
I start my 60th birthday (3rd as diagnosed autistic) in the summer of '25.
The sense of age, time, and change never fade. 20s, 30s..50s...who cares? It can always be exciting - if we make it so.
Every day is the start of a new year if you wish.
Warning, this will make holidays just another day in both best and worst ways. Just celebrate each.
Funny: your English accent makes Wonder and Wander sound the same to a Yank. It matters not which you meant!
Keep on W*ndering Through Life!
Thanks again for sharing.
Thanks for sharing. Happy you have someone to laugh with.
I saw this pop up earlier in the week and avoided. I needed the time. It had to be Friday night. Beer in tow. Now having watched I made the correct decision. As ever you’re a fabulous cinematographer and endlessly thoughtful and funny and definitely relatable when it comes to the ASD vibes! As someone who’s entering my 40s next year I absolutely get where you were here and you’ll smash it. My 30s were the best time of my life. Keep on being you. Love the vids as ever!
Thank you for the smile.....❤🙏🤗
This video has the perfect mix of fun, seriousness & plain silliness. The title cards and the synchronised are just brilliant!
Haha, thank you so much! 😁
Having fun with someone special makes all the difference. What a great memory you created for eternity. I am sure there will be many more to come. You have become quite skilled in putting together great footage of what you do. Great job. I hope your best friend will get to join you in more adventures. The two of you seem to compliment each other which is something special. I am very happy for you
This is really kind of you to say 🙏 definitely memories to be treasured, and not the last time he'll come along I'm sure! Thank you very much ❤️
As a 29 year old turning 30 in less than 2 months this (7:00) feels right at home. Although I'm not at the step yet where I think that's not true..
EDIT after watching to the end: 20:04 is fucking great 😂
I've been wobbling for weeks about it.. thankfully it's really not so bad 😅 and haha thank you!! 😂
I smiled through this entire thing. Thanks for sharing your adventures! 💚
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching :) ❤️
What a brilliant video.......superbly edited! Despite the rain, or maybe because of it, that looked fun! A belated HAPPY 30TH!!! 🙂
Thank you so much! We learned to enjoy the rain, it just became the running joke haha 😅
I just bought my first BMW, I’m so excited! Don’t have a cool name for it yet but figured I let ya know. Thanks! Keep the adventures coming!
Ayy nice!! They tend to name themselves after a while 😅
Good to see you seeing the funny side of things, even when they are challenging. We can’t always change what happens to us, but we can change how we react to them, in a positive way. I loved the synchronised coffee drinking..it reminded me of a scene in ‘Last of the summer wine’ so maybe a trip to Holmfirth in Yorkshire next time 😂.
Very proud of you. Even happier for you.
Thank you.
🥺❤️
Beautifully put
I spent my 30th birthday alone in lockdown, I drank half a bottle of red wine with the steak dinner I had made myself to celebrate the occasion and was then sick in the garden. 12 months later I was getting ready to move to New Zealand, it was time for a change and a new perspective and whilst I learnt that moving to a new country doesn't solve your problems, it does give you a new view to enjoy whilst you come to that realisation!
I really appreciate you sharing this story. I also think it's incredibly brave to move to a new country! Hope you're having the best time there ❤️
So i finally got round to watching your last adventure of those year, looking forward to the new adventures that are around the corner. Looks like you had a fun few days, great british weather.
You should be proud of what your doing, exploring, putting yourself in these different adventures. As your youtube subscribers we are proud of you. Can't wait to see your next video
Thought I would add an addendum to my last post about your latest video. Simply this: Merry Christmas! Hope your holidays are wonderful. Take care!
Great video Charlotte love your voice and video style. Lovely natural style.
Brilliant. Love everything about your videos.
Charlotte Elizabeth: The Honest British Camping Channel 😂 loving this video.
Enjoyed your latest video, Bernie’s also looking well! The Lakes and Yorkshire is such a great place to explore, the cavern tour looks amazing 🤩. You have great cinematic talent and natural presenting skills. Some great photography and editing. Your friend is also fun! What’s also lovely is that it’s delivered with soul and your genuine self 👍
You're really too kind 😭 thank you Justin! I also absolutely love the Lake District, Coniston being a very special place to me!
Great job!!! Not just the film but the whole adventure!!! My wife and I go to Ocracoke Island NC at least once a year and have for over 20 years. Every once in a while, we find a new adventure there and it is only 13 Miles long. (21Km) Never stop your adventure. See you next time!!
Love that you and your wife have been doing that for 20 years! Thank you for this ❤️
Thank you for creating and sharing this, I loved all of it. Reminded me of the "good ol' times" - making me both sad and happy at the same time. A form of catharsis - very well welcomed.
Regarding turning 30 - it's difficult at the beginning, but after some time it feels freeing. Now I'm just thinking that I have "3" in the front of my age number. Doesn't really matter what's after it.
Some weatherproofing tips for your next trips:
- wanna know what will keep you dry better than a 300 pound hi-tech membrane jacket? A 5 pound umbrella. A mountain-guide once opened my eyes with this insight. He was the only one with umbrella on that trip and the only one who was still dry when we made it to the shelter.
- regarding tents - buy some construction foil (what you buy for keeping your stuff clean during construction/renovation), mount it over your tent with pins to the ground. It's super cheap and effective. Additionaly, dig a a trench around your tent so that it doesn't slip off a slope during heavy rain.
- the only weatherproof boots are those made of real leather and wax-impregnated. A membrane, even a high-end one, eventually will give up. Unfortunately, that's a costly solution nowadays...
An umbrella... of course 🤦♀️🤦♀️ these are some really useful tips, thank you, I will make a note of them for my next camping trip!! Thank you for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😊
I'm 43 and still working it out, probably more so now with the insanity of the world, and the terrifying reality that we're passing to our children.
Murray Krampus, thank you for sharing!
20 min of Charlie?!?!?! popping corn for this one!!!!!! 😝😝
😂😂🍿
Great advert for the British Summer camping trip! Those caves look fun - I have been down to one system where you need to climb down 5 ladders and paddle yourself around. Just wait until your 40's and it will still feel like you were 21 yesterday (except things hurt more). You handled adversity very well! And it looks like you had fun filming this - love the last shot.
Ooh which cavern/cave is that? 5 ladders and paddling yourself around actually sounds pretty fun 😅 thank you for your kind words, and I'm glad you enjoyed the last shot haha!
Really cool adventures, it's nice to see you overcome adversities and have fun in a very beautiful and cool place! Wish you the best!
Also love to see Bernie taking you different places!
Thank you!! I'm just glad she made it there and back without breaking down 😂 take care ❤️
I turned 30 in November, did a similar thing in Northumbria, just me, my lovely dog, and my old Land Rover. I think there's a certain type of person for whom nowhere is quite as familiar as somewhere you've never been, the wilder the better.
Northumbria is one if my favourite places! It sounds like a lovely time, and happy belated birthday to you! Mine was also in November 😊 (also I love the way you explained the second bit ❤️)
Long awaited video. I have been curious to how your adventure turned out. It's way too familiar feeling, being overwhelmed with decisions, unkowns, and questions before an adventure, making you doubt if you could do it, or even enjoy it. And when it's over, it was the best fricking time in a long while, and you feed off that joy for a long while.
You're absolutely right! I was very anxious leading up to it, but was genuinely in such a good mood afterwards and kept re-telling little stories from the trip 👌
@CharlotteElizabeth3000 i know the feeling all too much. I really love your videos, and the inner thought narrative is a nice touch. I have, and still am, struggling with the same challenges.
Loved the edit, crushed it! 🌟Cracked me up that Lew was correct about the dude's halfway house joke 🤣 Bring on the next adventure, the first adventure 🔥#30
Ahh thank you!! Haha I know 😂😂 adventures of my 30's incoming 😬
@ bring it on! 🙈
Stylistically love the video. You're getting better and better in editing.
Happy Birthday :)
Ayy thanks so much! Appreciate it :) ❤️
A beautiful film, thankyou. I'm counting down to 60 and it was your channel that gave me the push to start mine. The car steamed up and puddles and places closed are what i put my kids through on holidays, and wierdly still enjoy as an empty nester now. There's stuff that goes well, and stuff that makes a good story. Have you read the b@ll@cks to alton towers guide book? For a dark brit flick "sightseers" is fun.
Just given the 100th thumbs up 😃 Thanks Charlotte, lovely video, no wonder it took so long to edit, great job!
Ayy thanks Ash! Appreciate it 😁 take care, hope you're doing good! ❤️
That Cavern looked amazing!!! Definitely want to do that in the summer Charlie 😊
It's definitely something different! Our tour guide made it though, he was great!
@CharlotteElizabeth3000 looked.so good...like the Mines or Moria in middle.earth 💚
@CharlotteElizabeth3000 love your videos BTW 😊🎄🎄 keep going 😎
Looked like an awesome trip with some proper funny moments 😆
There's something quite fun about camping even when the weather kinda sucks. There's this spot in wales that me and my friends always go to for lil camping trips, last time we went we ended up in the back of some dude's camper van at one point, chatting and stroking his pet chickens 😄
I love that you ended up in a van with pet chickens 😂😂 thank you though, it was a really great trip!
Great video, worth the wait for that one, really enjoyed it!
You're approaching your 30's with a much more positive attitude than I did. I got depressed (not actual depression, just me being miserable!) thinking about what I'd managed to do with my life and how insignificant I was, how unsuccessful I'd been at work, basically anything I could be negative about I was negative about!
When I hit my 40's, my attitude was completely different, I started to change the way I thought and started to think more positively about the good stuff, and much less about the not so good stuff and I've carried that forward ever since. Even when my first marriage ended in my early 40's, I tried to see that as a positive, which it definitely was! Even to the point that when talking about it I used to say "it's not that I was unhappy before, but now I can see how happy I wasn't" if that makes sense?
I'm now approaching 53! And at this point I no longer give a sh*t! I am what I am, I'm VERY happy with what I've got, and life is just dandy. 😂😂😁
Thanks so much! And no no, I was miserable too 😂 much better now that I've ticked over into the 30's, but the lead up to it has been rough haha. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience, I'm starting to believe the people who say it gets better!
@@CharlotteElizabeth3000 It does. Well it definitely got better for me. I think what helped me quite a lot was a change in my attitude to life.
Being happy with what I have (and I don't just mean physical "stuff" like cars, bikes, the latest this and that - I mean my life in general), rather than constantly chasing everything I didn't have thinking I was missing out because of it.
If you can train yourself to think more positively about what you've got, I think it just makes for a happier, more content life in general.
20:24 reminds me of waking up at 4am with the BSL on BBC Two 😂 why would they be up at 4am ahahaha
😂😂 we did it by accident on a previous holiday, and now it's a running joke in our friend group haha
I simply love your perspective, you are mature beyond your years and a gifted story teller!
Life slips by so quickly, staying present is a gift most can’t achieve, well done!
Cheers from Canada!
Thank you so much! You're quite right though, staying present can definitely be challenging!
Seeing people do well and having fun is great in and of itself. But this video is also pretty timeless. It could have been 50 years ago. And there's a huge overlap with my own trips with friends in the 90s. I'm middle aged and with how much focus there is on division today it's great to see new generations grow up and do well in ways I can understand and relate to.
Thank you so much for sharing this and for your kind words! That's really lovely to hear and I'm glad you enjoyed it :) take care ❤️
I’m 52 and still feel like I’m 25, and one thing I have learned is that you never figure it out. The point is to keep going forward.
59 and just echoing what you say. Thanks.
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
I try to remember that we are a collection of stardust atoms as old as the universe - when we are finished with them, they will be returned for recycling and will exist for eternity. Adventures like this are exactly what your atoms should be used for while you're looking after them.
This is actually a lovely way to look at it 🥺❤️
@CharlotteElizabeth3000 shamelessly 'borrowed' from Prof' Brian Cox 🤓
Congrats on the end of one era and the beginning of a new one. Each era brings with it new experiences and unique perspectives. The fun part is that it tends to get better as you get older. *TURN IT OFF!* 🤣🥰 - P.S. I'm 63 and still figuring out what I want to be and do when I grow up.
Ahh thank you! I have heard that it just keeps getting better, and I'm looking forward to it 💪 thank you! ❤
i’ve been starting to make videos where i just talk sitting in a chair in my room. i go on all sorts of adventures but never bring a camera with me. now this video is like fuck do it, even if ur friends don’t like it. u help me a lot
I hope you keep at the videos, you have a great personality! I never used to film adventures, mostly because I was too shy too, but it gets so much easier once you've done it once. Please keep it up ❤️
Such a heart warming video. I had a huge wobble at 30. Hope you can set up a patreon so you can do more stuff like this. Bless you and merry Christmas to you and your family 💘💘
Thank you! I've been told that having a wobble is normal, so I'm glad it's not just me haha. Happy festive season to you ❤️
I will be honest! I was excited to see the video. Silly me
@@WayneSloman ahh that's lovely to hear!
Yay - good to see you back! So British…sh!t weather but f*ck it, let’s enjoy the ridiculousness of the situation 😂
I felt a massive relief not being in my 20’s. It was actually pretty liberating. Had kids etc young so never seemed to be doing what people ‘expected’
Dirty 30’s next…
You've reminded me that I need to re-waterproof my waterproofs.
Also, I'm 40 now. And I don't think there's a true point by which you're required to have figured it out. Or I guess it wouldn't be particularly useful to know if there were.
Try not to worry about it. If you've got good people around you then you're probably doing well enough.
😂 you're welcome haha
Thank you for this 🙏
I'm about to start the last year of my 20s. I plan to make it a good one.
Yess! I really hope it's great ❤️
Your jump cut to you looking out over the wilderness was one of the greatest jump cuts ever. An announcement of one incredible film. Epic editing, poignant moments, lots of laughter, incredible insight. I remember your film about your trip with your friends to the land of the disappearing road and the difficulties you personally experienced. Taking this very difficult trip and conquering so many things makes me very happy for you. Yes, please, take more trips (sadly, I have no suggestions) and document them all. We will await them patiently. Why? Because you are the best RUclipsr out there. Thank you, Charlotte.
You are always so kind! Thank you so much 🙏 and I love that you remember the land of the disappearing road haha, adventures definitely aren't without their ups and downs. Thank you again ❤️
there's a little cave just up from the Speedwell Cavern you can crawl through. Just saying. For next time. And Mam Tor was right. there.
Hi, autistic in my 30s here. If this isn't love swear to god I'll eat my hat. You don't have that level of giggle around people you should be "a little bit close with".
As for the video, this was a lot of fun and I hope you keep making content!
Great Video, and congrats on being released from Copyright Jail. What about a trip up through Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Sweden and then get the ferry back to the UK. Enjoy the 30’s 👍
Question, being autistic, do you find the disruption of Christmas from your normal routine stressful? (Mine do, massively). Just wondered, it’s something we’ve noticed more with them in the last couple of years now their late teens / early twenties!
Ooh a road trip like that would be amazing! Thank you ❤️ and to answer your question, yes! I used to get really frustrated and have a really short fuse around this time of year, but never knew why! Now that I understand it a bit better I try not to give myself such a hard time if I'm struggling to feel excited or anything - lots of disruption and social activities can be very draining!
Don’t believe the whole “if you don’t have your act together by 30 you’re a failure” narrative. Find things that make you happy and put your energy into those things. If your life is filled with happy activities, you’ve succeeded. 👍
43 and still don’t have my act together 😂 I missed the memo saying it was 30 that’s for sure 😅
First
Hi
Don’t believe the whole “if you don’t have your act together by 30 you’re a failure” narrative. Find things that make you happy and put your energy into those things. If your life is filled with happy activities, you’ve succeeded. 👍
Oh and hopefully making more videos like this makes you happy, because they are pretty great for us subscribers so far. ❤️
I really appreciate this! I'm definitely starting to have a different perspective now that I'm here, it was just the run up to it that I wobbled 😂
