    BBC Africa this is a bad take. You know all student immigrants even from China and India come to look for a better life. Its not only Nigerians, your video makes it seem otherwise.

    The UK government knows the economic benefits of Nigerian students and their dependants. They brought massive billions as tuition. The maintenance monies running into billions are spent to boost the economy. They do the odd jobs as well as care jobs, a much needed help to British residents. They also work in other sectors of the economy such as becoming nurses and other healthcare professionals. These are all important jobs that benefit UK residents. However, the UK governments mostly talks about students and their dependants as parasites on the economy. They use the increased figures of students and their dependants to rile up the British public politically because they want to win elections. They make them believe that international students are only in the UK to take from them. The Tory government is very dodgy in its ways. They had removed the 2 years post-study work visa (PSWV) then reintroduced it after they saw the massive adverse impacts on the UK’s economy. Most Nigerians opted to relocate to Canada rather than the UK. The High Commissioner to Nigeria even made a video calling Nigerians to choose the UK for studies, indicating that the 2 years PSWV was back. Barely two years after, the same government is shouting about the influx of international students and their dependants to the UK. Did the government think that grown up people with families would leave their families behind? Don’t go advertising a product you can’t really sell. Nonetheless, the UK have the right to change its immigration laws as it deems fit. Also, some international students did abuse the rules and system.

      If Nigerians were granted a whopping 40% of all UK student visas issued, but only 7% ended up actually enrolling as students in these British universities, then it is clear that most of them are merely exploiting it as a way to migrate to the UK. Furthermore, with spouse, children, and dependent visas granted to prospective Nigerian "students" even exceeding the number of students themselves, you can't blame the British authorities for clamping down on this loophole. if you abuse the student visa to simply pack yourselves into another country, don't complain when they shut the door. Once again, Nigerians have overdone it, and have ruined it for other countries as well.

      Well said! UK is a very silly country that thinks too highly of itself. They really think they are that attractive to immigrants, with their ridiculous salaries?
      Change your visa policies all you want, but don’t try to make it seem as though people coming in with their money to help your economy are bad people.

      Well said. Nevertheless, the country has the right to withdraw its immigration policy, and it all depends on where the next student can go. Many European countries are advertising the two years work perfectly as well. Nigeria, Indians and Chinese will choose somewhere else with a stable immigration policy. Nigeria will survive in any way anyway.

    Yes they come to study (well some of them), often under false prentences and then overstay or vanish into the dark system, we definately need less students from abroad, might then stop propping up the inflated salaries paid at the Universities. We do not need the current rates of International students and certainly not their dependants, many of who also overstay.

      Who says Nigerians aren’t fixing Nigeria? You think because people migrate means the country lacks people? Nigeria is a 200 million population country. It hasn’t even sent out 1% of its population to the UK. The UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS) 2021 census figures show that Nigerians in the UK are just over 270,000.

      Why didn't the UK fix their country instead of colonizing the world for 500 years ?

    • @ican6401
      @ican6401 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@longstandingemperor5009 they are 300 million, not 200 million. People think Nigeria is a small country because of its small rigorous map. The entire UK is not even up to half of Nigeria's population.
