Am Indian born and educated and chose to live in the U.K. Through marriage. Most Indians have arranged marriages because of purely economic reasons. Parental and cultural traditions are often cited. But it is a ruse with a Western passport by either individual the main reason. A better life with free education healthcare and benefits. Sunak has been going on about illegal boat crossings but has encouraged Indians to avail of legal visas because of his fervent Hindu faith. Sunak an immigrant and Vivek Ramaswamy in the US both Indians have never provided answers as to why 41,000 Indians have illegally tried to cross The Mexico border to the US or Canada. India must stop the baby factories which are filling every landmass available. Their skill is robot baby making factories
Aren't these are the Kind of immigrants that the UK actually needs. Wow and you're here cheering
Overseas students studying for an undergraduate degree are already not allowed to bring their dependents. Now, master's students are added to this list. However, postgraduate research students are still allowed to get their dependents. It seems 50K students and 65K dependents came in one year, they pay one year of tuition but are allowed to stay for 3 years (one course plus 2 years post-study visa). Since many of them have children as well, who need school placements. Further, the dependents were reducing part-time job opportunities for the home as well as overseas students. Since personal loan grants were reduced, even home students have to work for their maintenance. therefore, the govt. did the right thing by banning overseas master's students bringing their families to the UK.
Anyway? Why a student has to bring his family to any country while he is studying 📚?? How does it make sense? Why can’t he study and mind his business?
why india is upset with UK's immigration law? Use your youth in your country. Why they have to go to other country to survive? Most of these students go to UK or USA to work not to study.
Good move, in long run this will have a benefit for the country. Sometimes we must leave the economy behind if it’s bring threat to the country. Keep going Great Britain
No, the UK isn't in decline. It's a Christian nation that is strong. It's leaders need to be as well. They need to show that strength by enforcing laws. No need to debate the immigration issue. Deport where appropriate.
Marriage is not a loophole. As an Indian born and educated marriage with a Western passport has always been the trump card for arranged marriages. A route to free education healthcare benefits which the Indian governments have never achieved. Skilled Indians at making babies like products on the aumated factory
Thank God ,UK has woken up! Student visa is just fir students, how many dependents can actually depend on a student?? It was foolish to let so many people in anyways. Good job Rishi!
Let me tell you the ground reality. Some people get into low ranked universities easily and get their whole family, use government benefits and take away all the small jobs that once would've been done by students as a part time job. Due to this 2 things are happening: -> government benefits are getting abused (Birmingham & Nottingham city councils declared bankruptcy also - due to multiple reasons but this is also pne among them) -> students aren't getting part time jobs Upon this a lot of students don't even attend university fully. They take up part time jobs legally and then work unrecorded hours for lesser pay illegally also. The massive influx of less skilled personnel is crowding the market so much and the UK isn't equiped to handle this much which means the existing locals and internationals lose out on deserved opportunities. All in all I would say it's a good move but it also seems it's just to win the election and nothing else as the illegal immigration hasn't been taken care of yet!
It is time for every country to be prohibited from adopting immigrants as new citizens and encourage the UN to issue a resolution regarding this matter. This is to maintain world order and security😁
Cleverly has gone after Brits with foreign spouses as well. All the gov't had to do was not count study time as years counted towards ILR applications. Some students hop around courses for years to extend their student status.
This is a good move by Sunak.. As an Indian I dont want to see a day when London becomes Mumbai or Delhi with chaat stalls in every corner. Oops! too late! that's already the case.
I am a British-Born, second generation Indian girl, and unfortunately, many international students tormented me on campus whilst I did my masters degree last year. I was the only home student in my accomodation, and a bitchy girl from Hong Kong who lived there bullied me for 6 months and mocked my financial status, amongst other things like appearance and accent. Also, two guys, one from India, and the other Pakistan, constantly degraded me, stalked me around the library, and were just straight up rude and disrespectful towards me. Selfishness and taking liberties is a trend I have witnessed among foreign students. Not all of them but, sadly, many in my experience. Frustrating that my own taxpayers money funded their torture of me.

Am from India and Somehow this may be a good decision for UK as we all know ultimately the target for most of those who go to UK for studies is to study and find work and then settle down at Uk. Thus creating imbalance to the countries demography if it happens on a Rampant scale. This will ensure that ONLY those who are REALLY interested to study at UK’s prestigious universities go there and NOT those students who just want to settle down using this route. It’s upto UK what kind of visa rules they want to have for their own country and at the same time they need to respect the same For Others.
Rightly said! The genuine Indian students who arrive in the UK don't abuse the system but unfortunately too many fraud is happening through bringing families and many Genuine students are being affected
Canada and Australia offer more opportunities for EU and non EU students. I won`t do my master in the U.K. because of Brexit. EU citizens could study almost for free in Scotland but that is over now. In Ireland and Germany ( master degrees are in English ) are still good options for EU citizens and the universities there for UE nationlas are almost free. The preferences for UE students are the Scandinavian countries, too. (Master degrees are almost free and in English). Anyway , British universities are too expensive , you could get good education elsewhere at lower cost.
Bull shit! I am from India, will GOI allow Bangladeshi and their dependents to stay in India with Justification "they are paying visa fee" which is negligible in relation to the load they put in the economy. This is what people do - some how come to US and Europe in the name of studies and then ether bring their dependents or plan babies and then try all the ways to stay back. As an Indian, I would never like that to happen in India.
Well, I believe they did it keeping in mind that once the dependent is in the UK, they conceive fast to have a baby which will be by birth citizen of the UK.
No it doesn’t work like that, I knew a Polish guy who lived in the UK since he was 10 years old and despite having a baby in the UK it wasn’t immediately given citizenship because neither the mother or father were British citizens
Its a good decision made by the government. So many dependants entering in uk and many of these foreign students who came.with dependants they all study in Unranked University and rubbish majors. And they also send their children freely to UK public school burdening Taxpayers money and also ready to work for cheap wages affecting local workers wages
Africans can come to school in Eastern Europe, schools are free, health care is free, in Eastern Europe we have the lowest unemployment rate, shops are open on Sundays, you can earn extra money on weekends. Eastern Europe, Intermarium countries need workers for factories in industry, processing, for highway construction, road traffic, paving stone sidewalks, infrastructure
Ideally they should deal with Asylum laws instead, but I'd presume this move is tackled at those who bring their entire family (mother, father, grandparents, etc.) This would form an -again- unsustainable amount of immigration
Australia has implemented _exactly the same thing_ …students will not be able to bring their direct families i.e., spouses and children - on ‘dependent’ visas
It is a good idea I want the ones suffering to get in before other healthy family members visiting from the visa students. We should help but not all these illegals coming in for a better life. They need to go through. Legally
Chain migration is the easiest way to get migration numbers out of control. It's nice to see these countries shaping and controlling the migration numbers to their desired levels. The US is also suffering a huge immigration crisis in its Southern border. Australia has also toughen up rules.
Yes it should when the immigrant figures are so high now that it’s now an invasion. The British people have the right to a good life as it’s our country. Not sure why you think we should come last in our own country.
They should just declare a moratorium on immigration for a year to straighten out the mess now. The additional family take resources beyond the costs of visas. Students make a choice. They may chose to prioritize family,
No one needs an international student specifically from India. Indians celebrated when Sunak was elected as a PMand now the same Sunak is kicking them on their backside. Look at Palki argument “Foreign students bring money and keep their economy running” it’s actually opposite as people move out of their country to get a better life. Now these Indian students are being kicked from UK, Australia and Canada, I guess their next destination will be SYRIA to get higher education 😂
Lol. USA will be fucked up is Indian students leave their University. Same with the UK. Your big University will be fucked up to a farmer college with low quality students.
They add to the economy. But UK is going through rise in illegal immigration, crime rates. Student visa holders have misused the visa, they start working without the work visa.
Student visa isn't immigration, it's intended to be temporary. If, at the end of courses, the student left, there wouldn't be an issue but that isn't what happens, it's, de facto, just another category of immigration which is abused. What is this nonsense about breaking up families ? Properly used, a student visa allows the student to attend, study, then go home between courses and at the end of courses.
Actually, if I was a foreign student paying £15k and more after studying, I'd want to get some UK experience and earn in a higher currency in a good job in the UK having studied in the UK as it's a form of investment. Put into practice what you've been taught in the UK system before I'd think of returning to my country that's less developed so I can really understand why the students don't return immediately.
@@ThePushUKLifestyle "Actually, if I was a foreign student ..." The giveaway is "Put into practice what you've been taught in the UK system before I'd think of returning to my country th..." The most frequently studied subjects are Accounting, Business, IT, law. The 2 biggies are China and India, both growing economies, nuclear armed. The picture of a qualified trained Accountant, Economist, IT Specialist or Lawyer doesn't hold up, particularly among the Chinese and Indians, usually the children of the wealthy anyway. A very common aim among Chinese who do return is to acquire citizenship or other residency rights in Western countries as a bolt hole. Britain is well within its rights to close off at least the Education rort.
Students will still make it to the UK, yes they may not be able to bring their spouse, but they will still go there. BTW, Ireland also doesnot allow dependents on student visas, it's not so odd rule.

If you visit London - there is very few British people. Mostly east European, South Asian, African. They should whatever works best for their national interest.
Tell me how is a student supporting it's dependents while going to full time school? This means that the dependants or kids are a liability to UK govt. even when they are there legally. Or do they have to show that they have enough money to cover their and their dependant's health insurance, housing for themselves and their dependants and food - not to forget books, transportation and any other extra expenses that pop up unawars. If they are supposed to put aside 20,000 pounds per person as insurance against emergency health visits or housing or just to show they can afford to have their dependants with them in UK while they study then it was okay. But if it was not a rule then this is a good move by UK govt. You are there to study, so study. There are many undergrad students who are unmarried that will fill that quota from around the world. Married students go alone or go to another country - you don't need your parents or kids while you study. Hey not discriminating against them but seriously if you have to provide for kids and parents and all, prove that you can afford their insurances before you come there with them.
Well to answer your question depends aren’t liabilities to government because while applying for visa government verifies that they have enough funds to support themselves during the course of stay & they get no benefits from gov as part of their visa conditions, plus they pay National insurance upfront for the whole duration of their visa validity also pay national insurance again through their salary when they start to work in the uk, same goes for international students so they essentially pay twice for healthcare & mostly immigrants are relatively young so they don’t need to use healthcare services as much, which means they aren’t using the services yet paying double for it but government portrays it otherwise to cover their own shortcomings.
Yes they have to show that they have the funds ti look after themselves and usually, their dependants have qualifications that allow them to work in proper jobs as well so they do show they have the funds but also, their dependants can get full time jobs to take over bills and all. The word dependants can be quite misleading as well, while some dependants don't have qualifications, others have and in really good jobs that they're able to obtain full time high paying jobs on their dependant visa which can eventually secure them an actual work permit to remain in the UK and the student then becomes dependant on their now dependant's spouse's newly secured work permit.
@@dukebubblebutt5256 You clearly haven't hung around international students to call them poor. They bring in more money than local citizens and the government knows that too.

Let me tell you the ground reality. Some people get into low ranked universities easily and get their whole family, use government benefits and take away all the small jobs that once would've been done by students as a part time job. Due to this 2 things are happening:
-> government benefits are getting abused (Birmingham & Nottingham city councils declared bankruptcy also - due to multiple reasons but this is also pne among them)
-> students aren't getting part time jobs
Upon this a lot of students don't even attend university fully.

Secondly allowing dependents to the uk since they pay and vontrbute to exchequer yes but it puts pressure on available resources
They should just declare a moratorium on immigration for a year to straighten out the mess now. The additional family take resources beyond the costs of visas. Students make a choice. They may chose to prioritize family,
Nobody is forcing anyone to study in the UK, its their choice to study here. they make the decision to leave their family, nobody else!

@@Ann-bm5qgBut rule should be implemented for everyone.
