This has always been one of my favorite songs. Why didn't the Velvelettes keep going. It says 'Motown' on the 45's yellow label. Did Barry Gordy gets sidetracked? Those girls were as good as any girl group. Perhaps they didn't get good enough material. Too bad I wasn't in touch with them at the time, as I've been writing R&B songs since I was 14 in 1966 (sorry to make this about me). I did a demo cover version of this song in a Thai studio, but the master tape was lost. Oh well, I love this song to death, and the way it's sung by the immortal Velvelettes.
They just needed one "Where Did Our Love Go" to get a monster hit. They were paired with the wrong songwriters. I saw them live, and they are indeed Motown royalty in style, grace, and beauty but someone dropped the ball with this group and kept green-lighting bland or dated sounding songs.. Their best hits compilation has 3 good singles and the rest is bland filler. Their best records were "Needle in a Haystack" and "He Was Really Saying Something" IMHO. Those two are fine examples of the Motown trademark sound.
These ladies should have been so much more popular then they were in the 60's
Awesome Velvelettes!! A classic Motown single 😍😍
These are my ladies! Met every one of them and they are still FINE!
You are so sosososososo underrated
VIBRANT VELVELETTES So UNDERATED!!!!!!!
STUNNING in EVERY WAY xxx
This is a master piece
Every performance is their best performance - wonderful ladies
What a legacy Fantastic ...................As always
They really find a groove as they get into it.
Great song!
I’d love to go to a party with these girls!
Super Velvelettes !
Gordy held back soooo much talent in favour of others.
Gordy didnt hold them back. They early on chose professions and family life over stardom. They did what they wanted to do.
Fantastic girl group, should have been much better known.
My favourite girl group. ...Ever
The ladies still have it...
Wow, wonderful!!!
RIP Bertha Barbee McNeil 12/15/22.

Greats
I love watching them to do this. Needle...she doop......Im usually on the she doop side.
What can I say? Fab
thought there were 3 ladies in this group.
There where
There was 5 to begin with but Betty Kelly left to join Martha and the Vandellas.
Unfortunately, Beertha McNeil passed away in December, 2022 thus breaking up the last complete Motown act.
As legend as ever, not a good move for the lead singer to walk across and stand in front of the backing singers though!
👑🌹🤍
Distraught RIP Bertha xxxxx
