I got to meet them afterwards and spend like half an hour hanging out with them, and i'd been tweeting them for months saying how i was looking forward to it, and counting down the days. and Joy knew who i was, she came up to me and just said "omg you're the girl whos been tweeting us counting down from 178 days" before i even said my name or anything. I just cant even express my love for them.
GOOD NEWS! I've arrived at a solution to THE CIVIL WARS problem. They MUST get back together. They're FAR to good together for us to allow them to split. I've listened to them individually. Each might get a 7. Together no less than 11. I promise to buy any albums they produce together. They can fight later in the back room.

Well, that is until Stevie got a stick up her butt in her 70's and decided she was more important than the music. Thanks, Stevie, for ruining the last possible chance of a final tour on the 50th of the classic lineup. THANKS!!!!!
I love watching their careers grow. Just a year ago, they were playing at small record stores. Now, they have 2 Grammys and are on a sold out tour......They deserve every bit of this.

It's so sad that even more than ten years after their breakup in the fall of '12, they still apparently are not on good enough terms to re-record their "Safe And Sound" track with Taylor Swift together, but only laid down the tracks separately. Well, maybe after twenty years, things will be different. Maybe that long-dreamed-of meeting at Sacre Coeur will finally take place. Maybe a tender note will appear underneath someone's door....at long last.
I was there for this show... unfortunately the gray whale is no longer located by the U. I used to rent an apartment about a mile from their store and would swing by most weekends to peruse their isles. It's some women's clothing/boutique now and I get sad each time I drive by it.

The tension so thick you can cut it with a chainsaw. The harmony singing is so tight and close it reminds me of the Everly Brothers. If they are nothing more than friends and musical partners I guess it is the power of music. Wow. Incredible talent. Santa Cruz Rocks!

You're cool too Jhon Paul, great voice too, but I can't stopp looking at Joy when she performs. "I've got this friend", my favourite. I sing it with my daughter :)
I wonder how difficult it is to maintain such a close collaboration and touring performance duo when both are married to other people who may or may not be that patient or understanding about that closeness.
It always amazes me how their mood changes to suit each song! I think it's crazy! But mostly amazing, and now they don't sing these songs anymore, really! Must be so sad not singing the song's you wrote!

They haven't split, they've just ceased to be a touring entity aka they're still a band but just not touring for now. Joy Williams also announced on Twitter that she was in the studio just last week recording new material with JPW! So all is good again:)
It sounds like the sound was picked up with a mic (maybe built into the cam?) not like the master signal was taped right out of the board. Overall: Not too shoddy, I'd say :)
This is on a pretty busy street between apartments and the UOU campus.. there are/were a bunch of places for students and professionals to get lunch right next to where the gray whale was located.
