I’d love to see Cross Country doing a (direct) SailRail only service from Hull, Leeds, Manchester Victoria to Holyhead, timed to meet ferry check in times at Holyhead and ferry arrivals from Dublin - I’m not that bothered about first class, express or limited stop services, the important thing would be that it would have to be direct without the need to change trains enroute, which is so inconvenient and annoying - this innovative change could be a really viable alternative to flying and air travel across the Irish Sea - it could even have some references to Ireland or crossing the Irish Sea 🇮🇪☘️🇬🇧❤️🙏

You missed your next train, but you were lucky enough to have bought an 'anytime' ticket for the journey, but what would have happened if you had purchased an advance ticket, with a set time of travel ?

I travelled 1st class on one about 10 years ago, Cheltenham to Newcastle. There was a pervasive smell of old poo.
Mark One was luxurious by comparison. The Hitachis are nearly as bad as the Voyagers.

I recently did Leeds to Edinburgh 1st class and was shocked how bad it was.
There was hardly any catering and the interior was a disgrace.

Only from Leeds? Lucky you! Try Truro to Newcastle first class in bum numbing seats. NO catering and a fare you'd need to take out a Mortgage for. Not to mention the noise from the engines, making the whole carriage shake as well. Daylight robbery.

the memo for the east coast is, where possible, always change at york and take LNER. Almost always cheaper, and has full service catering

@@TrainRealWorld AGREED i remeber traveling to Edinburgh from Bristol 1st class and having to change at Birmigham a few years ago cross country was for what we paid for 1st class a REAL dissapointment food and drink offering wise BUT when we changed at Birmingham (back when Virgin had the west coast franchise) it was a virgin train AND the services we got from Birmingham to Edinburgh was outstanding , propper crockery an cutlery, decent food and drink and the crew in 1st class kept coming round to see if we were ok and kept topping us up with free wine or asking us if wanted anymore food ( propper food not just a pre packed sandwich) ect ( ON cross country from Bristol to birmingham it was plastic cutlery , disposable cups for your coffee or tea pre packed sandwiches, and very little in the way of hot food ..what little they did have was wraps ect and all microvaed ect) , coming back was even worse as it was sunday ( now dont forget we booked 1st class return!) and it was cross country on the way back all the way ...well we saw the crew with the cart once throuout the whole journey and WHEN she did get to us in 1st class she had sold all the pre packed sandwiches ect to all the travelers in standard ( paying 1st class you get them free normaly) i was soo angry after paying what we did for 1st class return ect and she had sold it all in standard (obv to make revenue for cross country) i would never do them again but sadly since Virgin lost the franchise on the west coast line ( and it was a much superior service) Sadly we ae stuck with them now .....ALSO at one time we used to be able to get a straight through service to Manchester from Bristol ( manchester being my home town so vist family there) ...that seems to have gone now and are forced to change at Birmingham new street with not much time between trains given the vastness and security measures at new street since it was all refurbished and done up ....what used to be an easy transfer from platform to platfor down one main corridor has now turned into a sprint across a massive concours and negotiating the gates you have to pass your ticket threough ect!

Doesn't the standard smell of widdle amonia throughout most voyager trains put most passengers of the buffet food (if there is a buffet running)?

@@TrainRealWorldI remember going to Britain in 1982. Finally , after a train strike, we went King’s Cross - York in a Class 43. For an extra fee we had like a Sunday rost in the first class diner. Nice! Finally we also went all the way to Kyle of Lochalsh. And to Loch Ness, where our own lake monster of Östersund, Sweden, had its own display in the museum.😊

Kirkcaldy. Pronounced wrong. The al is (if) pronounced all. Actually, we Scots pronounce it Kirkoddy. Certainly no supermarket in there. Don’t ask! 😂 Kirkcaldy

Hateful trains. Bring back the hsts. How can 2 hst engines be less frugal than sometimes 8 engines on the same trip. The ride is less superior, the sound is so much louder and you get less room. Boooooooo there crap 😢😢

fFrst Class on British trains is DEFINITELY NOT worth the extra price. Charge you double and chuck-in a bacon roll and a packet of crisps. . Anyone who does it is a sucker. Just sayin'
