A good list, but as an industrial designer, a watch enthusiast since the 1960s and professional pilot, I disagree with the Daytona as it was an abject failure from its introduction in 1963 until 1988 when the Zenith movement was introduced. Instead, you missed one of the most iconic watches of all time, the first men's wristwatch, the first pilot's watch and arguably the first professional watch... the 1904 Cartier Santos! Which BTW, is still in production. Oh, and I would also include the 1945 Rolex Datejust instead of the SKX.
Well, Seiko has a longer history than Rolex, plus they have had a great influence amongst the Diving community, influencing professional diving standards, whereas Rolex has just about copied everyone else with their designs. Answer your question?
@@JamesAlexander14 yes, it’s a good perspective… though I guess when I think about “iconic”, I think about what watches that are easily recognizable based on either shape or colour. To me, the blue/red bezel really is the GMT master… regardless of who had the first one, this colour combo really screams Rolex to me. Thanks for the reply… always appreciate the different perspectives!
The Cartier Santos should be a mention on this list. Regarded as one of the first men’s wrist watches, and tool/sport watches. Also the Blancpain 50 fathoms..
The Breitling Navitimer is the watch that got me into this hobby. I remember looking at them together with my dad, around 2003. I had no idea what a Speedmaster was back then, no knowledge built up. Breitling still has a special place for me. They went through a rough spot but I've been enjoying what they have been doing the last few years.
GREAT WATCHES BUT I THINK EVERYBODY FORGET ABOUT CASIO WATCHES ROLEX WATCHES THE PRICE IS JUST CRAZY BUT I THINK CASIO IS ONE OF THE TOP WATCHES IN THE WORLD AWESOME VIDEO KEEP MAKEING MORE ONE LOVE PEACE
Hard to put together an Iconic list without parameters for objectivity. Recognizable, historic, worn by prominent people, iconic for an iconic brand, iconic for the watch world, iconic for the greater population (non watch folks), just your own opinion… My list: Reverso - 1st Sports watch Tank - Celebrity Icon Datejust - First Date scrolling watch Calatrava - The Dress Watch Royal Oak - Genta Nautilus - Genta Speedmaster - Moon landing Seamaster - Bond Pepsi - GMT watch Submariner - Ubiquitous watch You could easily add a swatch, a Casio, a Seiko as iconic watches but let’s stick with luxury ones.
JLC Reverso, Breitling's Navi and Top Time Triumph, and Cartier Tank all feature in my collection. Maybe I need to look outside the box. Great vid, Harrison
Great list. I think a case could be made for the Cartier Santos, Panerai Luminor (love or hate, it’s iconic and instantly recognizable), G-Shock square, and Bulgari Octo Finisimmo. And maybe a field watch (Hamilton Khaki?)
This is an excellent video. Watches are about history wether yours or the brands and it’s so nice to see the likes of Casio and Seiko included because it’s where we all start our horological journey

While I appreciate you had to diversify this list a bit, not sure how a seiko is more “iconic” than a red/blue GMT master…

Good vid! But, SKX is from 1996, not 2011. Maybe the SRP Turtle was 2011.

I was thinking either the G-Shock DW5600 or F91W as Casio’s iconic watch.
Tissot Prx Omega Speedmaster Gshock
no matter who makes it or when or when aa list like this is posted. The Subby will always be the MOST iconic watch ever.

My list:
Reverso - 1st Sports watch
Tank - Celebrity Icon
Datejust - First Date scrolling watch
Calatrava - The Dress Watch
Royal Oak - Genta
Nautilus - Genta
Speedmaster - Moon landing
Seamaster - Bond
Pepsi - GMT watch
Submariner - Ubiquitous watch

I see you picked up the snoopy seiko 5, I just got the off white model and am enjoying it. Looking forward to the ice blue prx arriving soon 😬

Rewriting history , the first watch in space was a Sturmanskie.
Funny, I have a Sturmanskie, very cheap to buy and a cool watch for the money
Regardless of your feelings, the nautilus should be on the list. It's not supposed to be about you
I’m surprised the Fifty Fathom did not make the list.
Your right, Blancpain is a cracking brand!
I’m just about fed up with hearing Gerald Genta’s name on every video produced. Seems like there aren’t any other qualified designers out there.
It won't make my day if Harrison didn't say "as always"
Hahaha thanks mate!
Almost everything you said about the SKX is incorrect
wish you picked the DJ over the sub. was stoked you picked the calatrava over the nautilus.
Isn’t the Santos deserves to be tge 5th icon instead of the Tank ?
🔥
SKX a luxury watch?
I will never buy a Rolex, i dont like it, i only own 3 watches, dont care for the rest, Tissot PRX Automatic, Omega Speedmaster, Glashutte Classic.
Rolex submariner screams basic.
Muppet...
Thanks
