Simply put, this song and the entire LP is something extraordinary. I was 12 years old when I first had the opportunity to listen to it and I have loved it and cherished it. Always and forever! Thank you for the fantastic photos!
Amazing music... still for the future. 🔭✨🌙 Freddie Hubbard was how I found out about the Jazz Foundation of America's Emergency Fund for Musicians. Rest in paradise, Freddie.
That keyboard player is the incredible Bob James!! I learned this last year, but I have this album, and my dad did too. Who knew. This album is full of all stars!
This was incredible and now you got me wanting to hear the whole album! what a Hidden Gem this is. Quincy was brilliant and everybody is at the top of their game here. This piece is just mesmerizing! Thanks for sharing this!
Quincy was 36 years old and Roland Kirk was only 34 on this recording. Probably the 3 "hits" on this album are Killer Joe, Oh Happy Day and Love and Peace. But THIS tune is my favorite. It's absolutely herntastic! (inside joke)🎶
Amazingly juicy sounding recording. Classic three channel 60s multi mono done real well. And it would seem to have to be Ray Brown with a pick up on his acoustic bass. It’s cool Sound. I’m sure he used it much though.

A pal bought a vintage McIntosh system w/giant tube amps & this was the first thing he played on it. Room turned into a church.
I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Grady can make straight quarter notes swing SO hard.
Check out the ride cymbal of the solo section of Down By The Riverside... Jimmy and Wes, The Dynamic Duo

He’s playing electric bass but I don’t have any pics of him playing one😬
