Hey, @skinnycheeks, what about selfdamaging pots for running seaserpent coil? They can have a 100% uptime if you dont get the passive for reducing the negative effects from pots. Or am i wrong?
@@Derpu9797 you can but then you have to avoid being purged by others, hitting any purifying synergies, or casting any skills that might have a purge on them. Kind of annoying, especially with a Templar in group with ritual. Can work though if the conditions are right. Still won’t be quite 100% though bc of tick rates.
Im a disabled veteran with a loss of coordination in my left hand due to nerve damage. playing on xbox this means i cannot take advantage of two bar dps builds. thanks to the oakensoul ring im now hitting for 90k+, about double what i was able to get before.
There’s theses new controllers out for the ps5 that help with disabilities idk if they are out for the Xbox yet but check them out they are fully mappable and they have exchangeable buttons, and you can hook multiple together so you could be switching bars with your elbows.
What I love about Oakensoul is the fact, that it also frees up gear, because you don't have to run a trial set to get Minor Slayer. So I can focus more on buffing group DPS while doing really nice damage on my own, espacially with HA builds (Sorc with Sargents/Master Architect provide insane burst with Atronarch, Warden/Necro with Sargents/EC have very good easy to achieve uptimes). I might even run 2 support DPS Sets, but haven't checked yet if this will kill my own damage. :D
I spent ~6-7 hours fishing for those Thrassian Stranglers just to find out you lose all stacks when crouching or traveling or entering some dungeon/arena/trial. Was a real bummer but I got used to it. I hope the others won't require as much wasted grinding time.
Thanks for the vid! Love the use of percentages! One thing about the mythic rings, they are soooo easy to switch. Solo: pale order, group: DDF, get there faster/node farming: Wild hunt. Especially on consoles, if you don’t have the armory guy/gal or don’t want to use a whole armory slot just to change one single piece of equipment.
Gonna repeat it on the next video like this due to its age but important note on Sea-Serpent Coil is that unlike pvp, the environmental or mechanic based snare stacks with this applied by the proc. This might exceed 100% making you unable to move other than roll dodging. Most notable places where this might happen is Lair of Marseelok Canceroid boss when you pick up seed and Sunspire when hit by Alkosh Fury wave. Also at day of me writing this, Major Berserk is provided by Wrecking Blow 2h skill, so it might not provide anything useful at all depending on your setup.
With how popular Sea Serpent's Coil has become for both PvE and PvP, there still seems to be major confusion as to how the snare actually works and how to best mitigate it. I've been running this mythic on my DK and NB since Oakensoul was nerfed and still don't fully understand it. I find the snare way too oppressive without near 100% uptime on Major Expedition + Celerity + 1 swift jewelry. Unless I want to run a bow on my DK, that means slotting Elude or Race Against Time for Major Expedition. On my NB it's more manageable with free Minor Expedition from Concealed Weapon, and easier access to Major Expedition with Twisting Path. Also important to note is that snare removal aspect of Race Against Time doesn't work on the debuff, neither does the Shuffle morph of Elude. Even the 5-piece set bonus from Ranger's Gait does not mitigate the snare. In fact, I don't even think "snare" is the right word for the debuff, it's more of just a speed reduction. I've also tested Sustained by Suffering and Survival Instincts from the red CP tree, and the "snare" did not proc either of those buffs. If it did, then that would have been an amazing synergy with Sea Serpent's Coil, especially for PvP.
thanks for the info. as usual, this vid is from a pve perspective. and it is pretty typical to have at least a twisting or a refreshing path going in a group. or can have a support slot rapids too if all the DDs are wearing it.
@@skinnycheeks Yeah in an larger organized group you can get super high uptime on Major Expedition, so Sea Serpent's Coil is amazing. For smaller scale or solo PvE and PvP, the snare can be pretty annoying to deal with. Charging Maneuver is an interesting idea, the stamina cost is massive but it might be doable. Right now I tend to use Stampede gap-closer on my DK to leap around and ignore the snare, but that skill eats through a ton of stamina as well.
Tx u very much Skinny. Great vídeo. A good summary: Harpooner n Serpent work better in groups; Mora's, Pale n Thrassian work better to solo players; Oakensul works perfect if you can handle a one bar rotation (many people don't like it) n is designed for solo dungeon achievment. Like a REAL solo player (only three groups in all my TESO history) i got all soloing but not Harpooner. Mazzatun last lead still far from my solo dreams.
As of 8/3/23 the next patch, Oaksoul no longer allows skills on back bar to buff, aka back bar is nonexistent while wearing it. Was prolly a bug anyway.
Hey Skinny, thanks for that thorough summary, I appreciate the work you put in your videos (which save me a lot of time I can use for something else ☺️). Seems like I need to start farming for one or two more mythics... *Sigh*
Love the video! Hey does anyone know where he got that treasure hoard furniture piece that his toon is dancing on at end of video and what it's called? that would go perfect for my player home! Thanks
i use oakensoul myself because i always get confused with bar swapping, i keep messing it up during important parts in boss battles lol, so i went with oakensoul so that i can still keep up haha. But to be fair, a good 2-bar build will always outperform an oakensoul build! no matter what role or niche you are going for.....
Between that and pale order. I haven’t got oakensoul but I find for lazier or less skilled players it will be better wheras more kitted out skilled players will benifit from pale order
Q - does spaulder give the bonus to the caster as well as the others???? and thank you for making the game more easily understandable for us el dumbos, much appreciated
Yeah it is. The real beauty of it is how it allows such a power buff to inexperienced and new players, whilst not becoming necessary and overshadowing 2 bar builds at end game
It's really not. Dps logs confirm that kilt, sea serpents coil and thrassian stranglers far outperform it. The only real justification for using oakensoul is if someone is disabled or older. Anything else is just laziness by people who aren't good at the game.
Quick note oakeysoul 1.0 I didn’t like at all. 2.0 with minor buffs is great solo and in group. You still get the major buffs in group. I’d love to be able to use two mythics. Sea serpent and Oakey would be unbelievable solo. Cheers.
I disagree about Harpooner's Wading Kilt being useless for solo. I use it on my main, on which I mainly solo, and it has made me more successful there. Like I can still solo Baxilt-Gah and other bosses with lots of adds. I use Isobel, Wild Guardian, and Bombard to keep enemies off me (and keep them in my AOEs). I get hit as much or more in dungeons because of fake tanks, (which does bring my DPS down when I have to deal with that).
Depends if you cap crit or not. If you follow this guide you'll be on or above crit cap, so kilt becomes meeeh. Better to go with Pale Order ring to become your own tank (unless you a magplar or similar already).
really depends on the encounter. it can vary but usually in the 5% or so range. But it has a worse 1pc with a magicka line on it than you'd get from a 1pc slimecraw so you lose some dmg from that
@@skinnycheeks since the mythics came out i dont think running a full monster set will ever be optimal again.... sure there are always niche ways it could be perfect for you, but for any kind of role or niche thing you can come up with, a 2 bar build with a mythic in combination with 2 well thought out sets and 1 monster piece will always outperform it.....

Most of the Mythics require a long ramp up time to get to max stats, so nothing springs to mind. Perhaps Pale Order ring for extra healing if you can keep doing certain types of damage. The designers have to be super careful with PvP balance; as soon as something sticks out as OP it'll have to get nerfed.
i remember when i did it i was really dreading it too! but i googled around a bit and found a quick way to do it.... so then i planned 1 friday night, and just followed that guide, turns out it only takes 1 good evening to get to the skill level where u can easily dig out any mythics! i think its: just go to artaeum since thats the smallest zone, dig up the free green, then the free blue - repeat, until u high enough for purples, then do green-blue-purple in random zones for a while and youll be done in 1 evening, or like a few evenings when taking it slower
Ring of the Pale Order doesn't seem to work as good as before. I guess they chopped certain damage off of it? Because honestly it sucks now. The multiple nerfs it has seen.. It barely provides heals anymore, should maybe run it some time, as of Dec 2022 , I find it far less than 20% of the damage, unless it's only counting the "area of affects" damage for the healing. Now I'm not looking at straight numbers, I'm just playing the game and seem to die way too much with this ring. Fighting the Dragons in Southern Elsweyr, beginning of 2022, it was great, today Dec 2022, it doesn't seem to heal anything. As there is no consistency. Thrassian Stranglers - When to use it? never , it is useless and has been nuke nerfed by the Fallout team💥 Going through these mythics I realize how nerfed they really are, a few of the "hard to get" mythics are ok.. but they've been tuned around 12 man group content and not really a "mythic" but a tool for group content lol
