Lebkuchen used to be called Pfefferkuchen=pepper cakes because they were so spicy. Always try the bakery made Lebkuchen first, the others are industrial products that are much to Sweet. Stollen is sometimes made with raisins and orange or lemon Peel., that is the candied Peel of These fruits. Spekulatius is always without chocolate! You can also try Pfeffernüsse=pepper nuts which are very peppery. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a good and peaceful New Year. Love from Vienna
Traditionally, raisins and cubes of candied citron peel (Zitronat) and candied orange peel (Orangeat) are found in Christmas stollen. Just looked it up, this also applies to the Rewe Butterstollen.
I just a little Lebkucken ball last night! It must be a different kind because I didn't get any anise flavor. And Marzipan is my all time favorite. I'll eat an entire bag of the stuff!
After your sugar High!!! It seems to be the roll shaped whatever. look the best. Can you find out what the name of those are. Aldi close to where I like in Alexandria, has many of the sweet you are talking about. I want to check to see if they have any of those.

Well, we usually eat that with coffee or Tea. Spread Pflaumenmus (plum Jam) ON the Stollen and dip it in your Coffee ✌️
Höre ich zum ersten Mal.😅
A Stollen us to be cut from the middle, so you can push both ends togther and the cake won´t dry out :)

Home made (or good bakery made) Elisen Lebkuchen are the best.
