Regulated by rbi for banking functions and registrar for cooperative societies for administrative functions.
2002 - multi state cooperative society act .
Cooperative societies act 1912 -all banks registered under it were cooperative banks.
These are regulated under banking regulation act 1949 and banking laws (application to cooperative socities act 1965).
Cooperative banks on 3 levels.
Pacs -
Primary agriculture credit society.
At Village level.
Dccb - district
State cooperative banks
Cooperative banks - only selected banks can take credit from rbi.
