- It's just two words and they appear on just one page of an eleven thousand word document, but the inclusion of "fossil fuels" is historic. The final agreement of COP28 might be a compromise - but it has sent a clear signal that we need to stop burning the fuels which are so harmful to the planet.

The UN's climate chief admitted we haven't yet turned the page on the fossil fuel era, but he called it the beginning of the end.

No planet would ever produce things that would destroy itself with. All steel starts with elements that come from the planet, as does copper, as does lithium, all mined just as coal is. Diamonds are a produce of evolution, compressed carbon. Gold is too. I'll tell you what it looks like from my perspective. I am from Poland, from the mountain region. In our region, winter -25 degrees is the norm. Coal and gas have been banned, and electric heating is not only too weak, but also expensive... Why do you make laws and throw everyone into one bag? Your solutions simply don't work for us!

It took a 100+ years to get us where we are, mebbe a 100yrs (or less) to stay where we are, and another 100+ years to get us to something/somewhere safer, if not the same as where we were before all this started. I`m doing my bit, I sold my Victorian 3 bed house last year and bought a 35 year old 2 bed apartment that is all electric, my Gas and electric combined was £50 a month in winter and my house was lovely and warm, my electric flat is powered by E-on Next 100% renewable energy (or so they make out ) now my bills are only £280 a month in winter (I live on my own, all led lights, and only use the washer on eco wash once a week) and at a push I can get the temperature up to 18 degrees. I`ll be so pleased when we are all on renewable and no fossil fuels, for when the smart meters will turn off peoples electricity if they haven't got an EV so the well off can charge their £60k+ EV`s at night and electricity is a luxury item for the working class.
