Le trio californien Acid King fait résonner son stoner doom dans la Valley du Hellfest. On se laisse donc hypnotiser par les sonorités de Beyond Vision, album publié en 2023.
Basé à San Francisco, Acid King opère depuis 1993. Cela fait ainsi plus de trente ans que Lori S. (guitare, chant) - accompagnée depuis 2021 par Mark Lamb (basse) et Jason Willer (batterie) - déploie son univers stoner.
Dire que la musique d’Acid King est cinématographique tient de l’euphémisme. Les trois musiciens construisent en effet un mélange saisissant de stoner, d’acid rock, de doom metal et de rock psychédélique. Écouter Acid King, c’est comme s’engager dans une marche en plein désert sous l’écrasant soleil californien - uniquement porté par des saturations, des riffs et des voix d’outre-tombe. Le tout donne le tournis, se fait suffocant, convoque mille mirages.
Acid King a publié sept albums et deux EP entre 1995 et 2023. C’est leur septième création, Beyond Vision, que Lori S. et ses acolytes viennent donc défendre lors de l’édition 2024 du Hellfest. C’est parti pour une virée en plein paysage psyché.

Il y a quand même plus intéressant en stoner. Mais à vrai dire même Fu Manchu je trouve qu'en live ils sont pas très carrés (alors que ça sonne top en disque).
