The freckled character they're taking about is Glen's Tilda Swinton right...

I would like to tell Sean that the movie will have a theatrical run in Latin America starting June 20th, which means we don’t get it on Netflix here, we have to wait a couple weeks to watch it (at least, in an official way.)

similarly here in Spain it's been out for a week, is not on Netflix and is still in theatres

There is a foreshadowing in the class session where the two students comment on Gary's hotness where they're discussing whether it's okay to murder problematic members of a social group. Gary harks back to this when he makes the decision to off Jasper

Loved this movie & wish I could’ve seen it in theatres. I will definitely be recommending it to people. Can’t wait to listen to the pod to hear the Powell/Linklater interview
Also: do some people just listen to/watch podcasts to complain? Sheesh

Why name the app? The number of "articles" talking about this scene as some kind of all time great scene is disturbing. A lot of people grew up with advertisements in film, but this somehow feels more crass.

I thought it was a flawed movie. It was entertaining, especially in the first 30 minutes, but it loses its momentum and attractiveness after that.
The movie asks us to root for a character who, by the end, is morally challenged, ignoring all the red flags and his partner's crimes. As long as they have a happy ending, no matter what they did... an odd choice.

@@Juice-ig3jz i had fun from beginning till the end 🤷🏻‍♀️. Some other movies this year have fun sequences, but I don’t really care about the whole entirety of the movie.

My ending would have had the Jasper confrontation scene going a completely different direction with Jasper back undercover and catching Gary and the movie ending on Gary's mugshot just like all the people he caught earlier in the movie

2nd best scene of '24, only bested by the of riding Shai-hulud??? I'm being gaslit, right? Hitman might be in my top 5 okayest films of the past 5 years. Am I just naive to the cynicism of this part of the industry?

    • @mikecat6291

They really oversell the scene here. It's a scene we've seen countless times before, a house is being bugged so a person communicates through writing to facilitate a performance. The only novel part of it here was the Notes app, nothing more. But that one tweak to the formula seems to have really given Sean and Amanda license to hyperbole it up!

Decent movie. I thought I would love it more reading all the glowing reviews. I'm glad an original film is being viewed as such a success, but some of the acting (especially at the police department) and writing just wasn't up to par for what you'd expect from a 97% RT score film.
It starts off at a 10, with so much of the best acting and writing front-loaded. And that's why I think when you realize what type of movie it's ACTUALLY going to be, rather than what the first 20 minutes imply, it kinda lets the air out of the balloon a bit. Excellent Powell performance, just wish it were in a tighter, more impressive movie.
I'm no longer surprised why there wasn't a big bidding war on this and Netflix was able to come and eat everyone's lunch yet again.
