Really nice that you explain everything. Natural colour lures in clear water, bright in coloured waters. Everything is given explanation, and it helps a newbie so so much.
I know this is an old video but my own experience with lure fishing is similar to Bens in this video. I have a light setup for perch and a medium/heavy for bigger fish like pike. I can never catch a single thing with the heavier setup but the moment i switch to my lighter setup and throw much smaller lures and jigs *INTENDED FOR PERCH* . All the pike start coming out of nowhere. Im not quite sure where im going wrong with the heavier setup. Ive tried so many different lures of all sizes and colours. lures that have been guaranteed pike catchers but these fish just arent interested till i break out my perch gear out of boredom.
Great video! Would one of both rods used ( street and dropshot) be good for fishing both dropshot and jigging/ shads ? ( max 18 grams) keep up the good work!
Great video! Glad my jigging gear outnumbers my dropshotting lures. Although in saying that definitely seems a great way of bagging decent sized lazy pike. The hook ups on the pike seem to be mostly at the side of the lip meaning a very high chance of netting them without the need for a wire trace. I would consider using at least 15lb fluorocarbon tied to 20lb braid when trying it out.
ive just had 3 mini strokes and im heartbroken i may be having to give up my sea fishing as my shoulders burn up when using big rods im thinking of dropshotting and jigging the local drains i still need to get out in the fresh air but cannot work my arms like i used to x firefighter so the emergency services career is also over would you believe these methods of fishing would suit me and make sure i can still fish what rods and reels braid would you suggest for a complete newbie phil holderness coast
I would even use something as light and easy to use as an American “walleye” ice fishing rod. Personally when I drop shot I use light carp rods but maybe a lighter rod is better for you. Tight lines👍👍👍👍
Phil you want to get a really light and sensitive rod and reel. As you will be holding it all day and casting a lot also. The fox rage range is ideal. A 1000 size reel and a 7ft rod with a soft sensitive tip. As you want to feel the bites. Braid as a main line approx 8lb max is more than enough and use flurocarbon as a leader. Drop shotting is all about finesse and fishing lightly. Carp rods are no good what so ever as you will not feel shy biting fish. Any questions please feel free to ask me. I have been drop shotting for years and it amazes me that people use such heavyweight tackle.
like the other two here said... use a light one, just like ultra light fishing, it makes also a lot of fun and i think you can handle that 😉 wish you good luck and tight lines!

Dont worry about the boats as i trawled a lure off one and had a big zanda
If I'm honest I'd rather catch two nice pike than 20 micro perch any day
I'll take both either way tbh
Pike always smash me on the dropshot ! Spend most of my time on rivers maybe the pike are more aggressive
Nice movie and good explanation.... 👍(happy New year)
Quality 👏
Nice video
to wish a luck on fishing is bad sign in Lithuania :D

Good fishing film, Crap music not needed why oh why?
Try a drop shot with a creature bait and see what you catch
Ouuuu nice
Terrible Music :(
I would have zika the drop shot weight lol
Amazing shots and brilliant editing, terribly dreadful music. Makes the whole video far less entertaining... #justsaying
Totally agree, not sure the chavs, yoots and bad mans are into fishing, so why the nasty "ragga" noise?
Imaging not having largemouth bass in your country
It sucks very jealous of American fishing. You have it all my American cousin. ATB.
why are u fishing in stocked ponds.. like i can get inspired from someone catching a fish from a .2 acre pond
They're fishing canals...........
I’d take 2 pike over bunch of measly perch every time
