Maya is one of the most tragic characters in ace attorney. Red White destroyed her mothers reputation and killed her sisters and her aunt tried to frame her for murder.
And don't forget: her sisters crush killed her own mother.
The whole Fey family is just one big tragedy... :/
@@razorratproductions3499Honestly, I'd imagine the breakdown would happen either during Reunion & Turnabout or after Bridge to Turnabout.
She was able to focus on the case in Turnabout Sisters (something she kinda admits to) and, to headcannon a bit, probably assumed it was White anyway due to how deep his corruption was.
But the other two cases, she now has to grasp how deep this family drama is and how it might affect Pearl, even if she claims she can cope.
Maya kinda strikes me as the kind of empath who neglects her own feelings in favor of what others feel, unless it gets to her really hard, which is why I still see her and Phoenix having a falling-out after his disbarment. She might still see Wright Anything as Fey & Co in a way (a comfort in Mia's possessions or the sort), and how him distancing from them felt like abandonment and extra burden on her shoulders to take care of Pearl on top of it all.
Unless White stomped out of the courtroom vowing death to the Fey's, she'd sooner cry about how the others felt having his thumb over them.

@@Isa-yj5op Makes you think how vulnerable Maya would feel if she didn't have Pearl, or even overall her extended family.
She'd have no one to be strong for, would doubt herself constantly by comparing herself to Mia, have the pressure of possibly continuing the lineage, meaning find a suitable partner that won't go buying milk, and be more paranoid thanks to the overall feeling of being an unfortunate accident away from making her heritage extinct.
Yeah, I'd rather endure Big Trip all over again if it means keeping Pearl.
The movie is so underrated imo, some of the scenes go incredibly hard, especially the opening with the channeling of Gregory Edgeworth. And the fact Apollo's theme is in the movie is a nice little easter egg (it plays during Manfred's arrest)

This scene was so powerful the first time I watched it! We never see Maya THIS angry in the games and the movie finally giving her that moment of emotional release towards Redd White was so satisfying
Yeah... though heartbreaking, I really like that the movie showed just how hurt Maya was about the case. :(
I think that was my favourite thing the movie did, Maya deserves to let all those emotions out since the games don’t let her
This is pretty much very accurate adaptation of the live action movie in terms of seriousness.
White was like "lmao doing funni things to be rich and never be exposed" and then after his exposure he meets someone's ptsd because of his actions and like "...". Pretty realistic though. I wonder if he got a death penalty or was a valuable information source for the officials so they made him a prisoner for life or smth.
To think of it, bro seriously had nuts not only to ruin one family, but to accuse Maya of it, and then her ally at the moment. Sometimes we forget he also masterminded a lot of another events.
Turnabout Sisters is really underrated, and Redd White is one of the biggest scumbags in the franchise, one of the only who receives no empathy.

He brought pain to the Fey family and I dislike him for that!
He's only good for cosmic brownie jokes now smh.
I think the only thing holding it back is that he's literally the second villain of the franchise (first in development).
His corruption could've ran further in the trilogy. Have a goon of his be the actual murderer, and other cases are spent trying to find a link between that and other murder cases back to him. Have him be a producer or sorts of Global Studios and influence Dee Vasquez, suggesting that she was just complicit in Hammer's dirt and not actually the one behind it (White is). Reveal that Dahlia helped to conspire in Mia's murder since she wanted her dead and Mia's one of the loose ends on the DL-6 case. Replace all of Turnabout Big Trip to instead be about a former right-hand man to White framing Phoenix for a murder to get revenge.
It's kinda why I'd like to play around with swapping Turnabout Sisters and Turnabout Samurai, have Mia interact with Phoenix and Maya more, get a feel of their dynamic (cause the first case and the phone convo wasn't that much to go off of honestly), and let her banter with Edgeworth.
That way we can plant the seeds of danger with Blue Corp, further endear gamers to Mia, and her death a surprise and emotional gut-punch. Make Phoenix vengeful and moody with people, and we won't have our first impression of Gumshoe as living up to his name.
Given redd white's sprite in this vid after maya asks him about the reason for mia's murder, i wonder what was he thinking, if he even felt any ounce of regret or not.
@@ill_hex8103i think that a big problem is the fact that they originally planned for only one game back then, which meant that a very prominent character in this franchise died near the beginning of the first game because of a guy that was also captured in the same case, which is like, very weird. Frankly, i believe that if they had known that they would keep making phoenix wright games, they would've kept mia alive for a longer time (with redd white likely being more important as well), probably until the second or third game.
@@dylanzlol7293 It's probably why Edgeworth wasn't that prominent after JFA. They admit that they originally planned to not have him in the last case of the trilogy, only having him because they wanted the trilogy to be the last Phoenix Wright story until they're mandated by Capcom to make AJ a sequel instead of a soft reboot.
Combining his decline in presence during the trilogy, his lack of absence in AJ, and later games focusing on other prosecutors, it makes Edgeworth feel kinda nebulous in the mainline games.
His character arc had already peaked in the first game, and everything afterwards is just the Vegeta in Super effect of stagnating in further major growth, basically making him an edgier version of the main protagonist. He's essentially Phoenix but with his inner thoughts being expressed. You can kinda see this in T&T, as he's basically doing what Phoenix would, except he's meaner to Gumshoe and Larry, and is a bit nonplussed with Iris.
Had the first game been made with sequels in mind, he would've had a Vegeta progression, with Von Karma being the overarching villain, and playing up both his and Franziska's more sympathetic sides as Manfred further flashes his problematic traits. He'd almost be like a girl Phoenix likes whose love is always challenged by Manfred being an overprotective dad. Heck, Edgeworth and Franziska could've changed to be actual siblings or have her also be adopted to give her drive to testify against her father.
AA has always had the problem of hyping-up prosectors only for them to get ratio'd immediately (cue Godot being the best prosecutor aside from Edgeworth despite an 0-3 record), so building Manfred as a legitimate threat would be a nice treat even if he gets just the one case.
I am speechless when Edgeworth said “Redd!” After Maya mentions the DL-6 case

At least in the end though she got someone she could consider her best friend as a result of this case, despite the tragedy

Her sister and mother were murdered, was kidnapped and almost killed by an evil demon, and she never loses her smile
I haven’t watched this movie myself, but I’m glad it ends up delving on this situation a bit more. Turnabout Sisters in general had a lot of potential for a great case, even better than it already is.
Little touches like these would have elevated it quite a lot.
Yeah... Turnabout Sisters could've been a lot more. Redd had potential to actually be this overarching villain of sorts in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney tbh. But they just made him a one-off thing, despite his actions leading to what happened in AA lore.
