    I used to work in an animation studio and SMOKE SPRITE 💨 is an effect used by animators to show a sudden burst or smoke. Just like a smoke coming out of a motor bike that just started its engine, but went away or disappeared as soon as the engine was turned off again.
    I'm guessing from the lyrics that So Yoon and RM wrote about a kind of love that is just temporary, or like a SMOKE SPRITE 🌬️ a sudden burst of passion that goes away as soon as you started it.

    I never thought I'd get into any group other than BTS (post-80s) because I don't have the energy to invest my heart and soul into more than one.
    But after hearing this song, I was so drawn to SoYoon and dug into her music (Se So Neon) and I can't stop listening now.
    She is absolutely incredible - only the second female singer (she is gender-neutral) whose voice I found truly attractive and captivating.
    She as an artist is hauntingly beautiful. (Check out her music, starting with CANADA and watch her live performances. Her guitar playing is something else.)
    To me this song is psychedelic (not what I'd call "bop" or "funk") but unlike any other Indie music I've heard.
    If you listen to it again and again, and become familiar with the sound, you'd be lost in it. (I'm not saying 'you' will.)
    She is pure art.
    At first listen, the lyrics seem to be about accepting one's sexuality and freeing the erotic self.
    But the word "sprite" (and the MV) made me wonder if the song is about the characters we play in the game (3-D'ing on the 2-D plane, whatever 'game' it might be) and our confused psyche resulting from it. The fact that RM worked on creating this song together with SoYoon tells me that the confusing lyrics must mean something and I read into it as multilayered.
    It could mean nothing. It could mean something, depending on how far you're willing to go.
    Even as a diehard BTS fan, I can honestly say that Se So Neon is a level above in their art and their music needs to be discovered and appreciated by many.
    I love RM more and more because he's proven once more that he cares about art. After all, music is supposed to be art.
    While he could easily collaborate with famous/popular/chart-magnet artists, he's chosen to work with those who needed to be discovered to help widen their musical horizon.
    I hope you will always keep your fond memory of seeing what you saw in Joonie's eyes.
    I was drawn to you from the start because you seem to see what I saw in Joonie.
    You've been my favorite BTS fan because I could count on your honesty, raw emotions, thoughtfulness, love.
    I hope you continue to enjoy your journey on your own term, while never ignoring your health.

      I can see a lot of people have said she is perhaps homosexual and gender neutral, but that confused me because I just saw her in an interview w. The guys on Psick University and here she talked about what kind of men she finds attractive and what kind of girlfriend she is. And she said she liked tall, smart and kind men and she didn't like skinny men and that she was a sweet and cute girlfriend and not at all the persona we see on stage, but when she worked on her music she could be selfish, because then it was all about the music.

    • @thisverse_rm
      @thisverse_rm Год назад +4

      @@CamkirE I don't think "gender-neutral" has anything to do with sexual identity. She shares my view that humans needn't be categorized as male/female as we have both masculine and feminine sides, and that socially-constructed concept of male/female is different from biological concept. She's a whole human and that's what makes her absolutely attractive.

      she said smoke sprite is about especially in American cartoons when there's a smoke cloud and then someone disappears/takes off, i think i'm paraphrasing that okay. so i'm thinking it's a reference to an orgasm bc die in literature means orgasm which is why in rap he said kill you tonight
      The euphemism “to die,” meaning to “spend” oneself completely in orgasm, is everywhere in 15th- and 16th-century English literature

    I'm a fan of this song and So Yoon's voice. The distorted guitar and base drew me in, and while I saw others comment that her voice didn't seem to go well with the music, I respectfully disagree as I heard perfect parallels that had me rushing to sing along! This song and video remind me so much of my college days when my roommates and I would try to decipher art films, poems, essays, and lyrics to figure out what the artists, philosophers, and academics were trying to say. I was never very good at it, but I always admired the minds that could first, create such works, and second, decode and explain such works to people like me. For me, it all boils down to "this song is my "it" song for the time being." I'm so proud that BTS members can provide us curated connections to such musical and visual diversity to help us grow as music listeners and consumers just as they themselves grow as artists and human beings. 💜

    I love the visuals of this and NJ's section toss me for a loop because then the story is even more complex than first take....I am entranced. The finger/hand mark at her waist that looks like her body has been burned...from passion, love, lust, anger? IDK but I keep circling back to it again.

    this was a very sexy song. the story to me was about sexual imaginative desire. your emotions or lust being shot with arrows, the climax of your wanton desires and the show of markings on the body [rough sex]. the ending with the grinding guitar and the scene of the round stairway was very excellent subliminal messaging. the ending of her alone on a tall spiral that had many people on it, she gazed with armor on, looking for the next ''victim'. it was low-key 50 shades of grey if you know what i mean. this was a very good song.

    The song is about giving into your desires. And, Yes! It is about sex. In the video she is sunburned / burned by the sun ....or perhaps by love?. She gets shot by an arrow ( Cupid perhaps??)but we see RM being surrounded by arrows as well so he is not unaffected either . We see a crash ( car crash ) they collided. She is in water - water is often something about feelings. Perhaps she doesn't want to commit so she is running away but she can't she has to give in. Her whole album is about relationship and the difficulties in commitment. There is another track on her album called Bad ( it is really good ) which seems to connect to this song, there she uses some of the same imagery - check it out if you are curious. I really love that RM is not affraid to be a bit more artistic and alternative here in his " chapter 2". I really think this is what he truly likes. If you think of some of the other collabs he has done through his career. The bands/groups are often a bit more edgy. And if you hear the diff. Tracks he recommends on Instagram it is also a bit more alternativ. I can't wait to see where he will go next.

    • @ioluna
      @ioluna Год назад +4

      I love this - on RM, I thought it was interesting that he was surrounded but unaffected by the arrows…like he takes what she is giving when he finds her in his favorite place but he does not feel the full / same affection (she is burned & hit by the arrow but he is not).

      @@ioluna yeah, I can see what you are talking about. He is not affected by the arrows. And it is okay for him that she is not his as long as he can " hit her right" and " take to the next level, space level" 😉. So perhaps it is something about having a relationship that dosen't really fit into the conventional norms. It is very sexual and there is a lot of images of holes and circles and us " the viewer " going through those holes. ( I think I know what they represent 😉). And the guitar at the end..... beautiful, sexy and full of longing. I like sexy Chapter 2 Namjoon. In the last couple of months we have gotten :Sexy Nukim, Closer and now this. Go Namdaddy!😆.

      Sometime after they debuted RM worked with a group of rappers and they collaborated on a work where they each represented one of the seven deadly sins. RM represented "lust" and he was roundly criticised for his lyrics which were described as "overly sexual". Also, pre-debut Namjoon wrote a couple of songs that were criticised by the conservative Korean fans and he was called a pervert for singing about sex at all. So in his Chapter 2, RM is just revisiting old ground.

    Thanks for this reaction, Roscoe. "I'm confused" - you're not alone, lol. I can only go by the impressions I get from the visuals because some of the lyrics are just strings of nonsense. So - edgy love or an abusive relationship? Namjoon sings sexy love but at the end he's standing like in a dream? Is she a succubus? That Hunger Games-ish scenario could be a dream scene. That last shot has a kind of sense of loss - does this suddenly turning into a blonde signify some transformation? Or is the whole video meant to be just some high-impact artsy fartsy hit that doesn't have to make sense as long as it grabs our attention? I wish I had the skills and equipment to isolate RM's part because his vocals are so rich and deep. Sad to say I am not as enthusiastic about SoYoon but a lot of other people love her so more power to this collaboration.

    Not gonna lie, I totally forgot I watched you react to this on a stream, so I was surprised to see myself in the chat. 🤡
    But yeah the more I think about it I do genuinely think you're onto the meaning of the song/video; that it's a mix between an inner battle with yourself and a broken relationship. Honestly when I first saw/heard the song I wondered to myself if it was about death due to the "If I can't make you awake" and the Smoke Sprite naming and Joonie sitting next to a flipped over car, but a broken relationship fits way better in that it feels like something is missing and she's hurting herself trying to keep chasing after the fantasy. That also could fit with one of the last comments I made in the chat about how the building/sculpture whatever it's considered to be circle thingy making me think of an eye, that it could represent looking into her internal feelings, I wonder if her on top wearing the blonde wig is her outside persona all armoured up and all the times we see her on different levels are going deeper and deeper into her view/thoughts/feelings (while as in most of the other scenes we see her in she's struggling in some way.) But yeah who the feck knows! 🤡🤡🤡
    Edit : Also I consider this song to be a grower for sure, there's no guarantee you will but I found myself enjoying it more the more I heard it. So give it some more listens and you might enjoy it more too Roscoe!
