온스테이지가 모듈형 무대 로 한층 더 새로워졌다. 뮤지션은 고정된 무대에서 벗어나 무대를 음악에 맞춰 원하는 형태로 변경할 수 있다. 표현의 폭이 한층 더 확장된 것이다. 그 무대에 오른 첫 번째 주인공은 4년 만에 정규 2집 Episode 1 : Love을 발매한 ‘So!YoON!(황소윤)’이다. 그는 ‘에피소드’라 칭한 정규2집의 노래 3곡을 다른 구성의 모듈 위에서 촬영했다. 때로는 춤을 추고, 기타를 치는 소윤이 있다. 그 이유와 구성에 대해 주목해 감상하면 노래가 더 선명하게 다가올 것이다. 곡마다 실제로 작업에 참여했던 세션을 섭외하여 구현된 라이브는 So!YoON!의 음악이 다른 뮤지션들과 결합 되는 과정을 여실히 보여주고 있다.
이 앨범이 첫 번째 에피소드라는 이름을 가지는 데에는 다 이유가 있다. 밴드 새소년, 그 중에서도 핵심 멤버인 황소윤의 두 번째 정규는 주목도가 높을 수밖에 없었다. 그러나 오랜 기다림 끝에 나온 앨범은 예상을 비껴갔다. 거대한 기획을 앞세우거나, 이를테면 허를 찌르는 ‘황소윤’스러운 영특하고 소름 돋는 면밀한 플랜은 없었다. 그러나 ‘황소윤'스러운 정공법으로 시도한, 모든 게 있었다. 그가 절대 하지 않을 것 같았던 (그러나 누군가가 그에게 바라왔을) 클리셰도 있었다. 의외의 의외를 자아냈다. 잰 체하지 않았다. 어느 순간 ‘기대’라는 포장지로 싸맨, 아티스트에게 겨눈 내 평가의 잣대가 창피했다. Episode 1 : Love는 발목을 붙잡는 관성, 두려움 따위를 외면하지 않고 동시에 자신과 자신을 둘러싼 세계에 대한 신뢰를 확인하며 나아가기 위한 So!YoON!의 일지와도 같다. 안무가 채(CHE)로부터 몸의 쓰임을 하나부터 열까지 배우고, 전자음악 기반의 프로듀서 전광재에게 7분짜리 잼 데모를 보내기도 했다. 제이홉 리스닝 파티에서 처음 RM을 만났고 이후 데모를 들려주고 피처링 제안을 하기도 했다. 납작해지는 영혼으로부터 탈피하고자 하는 인간의 존재론적 여정이었다. - 이진수 (온스테이지 기획위원)
