No joke to add - Limgrave might be one of my favorite starting areas in all of video games. It’s big enough that you get tricked into thinking “oh the whole game must just be here” before quickly realizing how wrong you are. It does an excellent job teaching the player all the basic skills they’ll need for the next 100 hours. And the music is super relaxing. It’s near perfect. I look forward to it on every playthrough.
We’re also pretty terrible at determining literal map size. Elden Ring especially has a real funky shape that makes it feel way larger than it is. Basically the exact same size as GTA V but then you get to Tears of the Kingdom which I believe is orders of magnitude larger. Which is why squared distance isn’t the perfect measure
My favourite part about Limgrave is when Godrick said "You've made a Limgrave mistake" and grafted my arm to his body. It was a real Prepare to Cry moment, because I was sad about losing my arm.
You're lucky,In my save file Godrick chopped of my member instead and forced me to guard a gate. It's not all bad though since I can discuss pisslocophy with Margit. It's a great time but I cannot apply anything he teaches me in a practical manner because I cannot piss.

There is also a werid optional area with a semi-immortal iron charriot that likes to ride your absolute body. Because in Limgrave, charriots ride you. But it's locked in a paywall made by activision at te very begining of the area, so it was taken away from the story's canon.

I had saved up nearly 5k runes to buy a couple of ashes of war too & thought to myself 'I'll just investigate these ruins first' lol. Think I must've died about 5 times before I managed to get out of that hell cave lmao.
Absolutely hilarious as always. When I first played the game the very first time I felt the exact same way. The whole place looked weird like it was in a giant snow globe with a big old tree in the distance and even though you were told where to go and how to get there it just didn't seem to matter. And then you're told oh no the bridge is down the bridge is down. So you run down the bridge and you skip the entire game almost only up to the capital city. Great video I loved it thank you. You are awesome.
