With my life initially being trapped underground at the hands of my wife, and then all the possibilities of the world opening up to me once I opened the doors of the divorce attorney's office. Varre is especially reminiscent of the attitudes that society holds over divorcees. While the tree sentinel hits like you hard and persistently like alimony. But also like alimony can be totally avoided. Truly one of the locations of all time.
Honestly as someone who went through it as a child at the age of 11.... Limgrave is actually perfect. Your parents try to hide it from you so you're in this council room with like 12 other kids getting rice Krispy treats and feeling pretty good... Then varre walks in and goes "unfortunately for you, you are fatherless" and you realize why no one's parents are in the room with you

It seemed ironic in the video, but I unironically think Subterranean Shunning Grounds is S-tier, or at least A. It's claustrophobic, creepy, and gross, but that's exactly what a sewer level should be. The thing that makes it so great is how every path somehow wraps back around to the first site of grace, and you keep unlocking new shortcuts as you progress, making what seems like a massive and daunting area at first actually very well-connected and navigable. It's really excellent level design.
Fun fact : deep roots depth is actually the third city (Nosktella & Nokron), it has been destroyed by Astel and there’s some deep lore behind it explaining why there’s no « night sky » cuz this cosmic flying shitworm took it

NG+ twice to get the endings one at a time while I was having a glance at locations I was more unfamiliar with for secrets. 7 months later, I'm doing it again on the PS4 version just to platinum it twice, a full playthrough. My biggest complaint is that the game isn't long enough to last until the next FromSoft release.
19:50 that's exactly my experience, I never found that ladder on my first playthrough. My brother was playing on his file and he found it, and that's how I found out about it
When I got Elden ring when it came out, I was confused about the lift of rold and how half the key to access the lift was past the lift, until I got deeper, both literally and figuratively, into the game and found everywhere is fairly easy to access when you get closer. The game can still be confusing for sure though

Also, Nokron is set in a much, much more spacious cavern and on a cliff within that cavern. Nokstella is very cramped in comparison, probably in part because it’s not as deep underground as Nokron.

Any sort of holy damage is extremely useful in siofra river, something like the sacred blade Ash of war is super useful against everything I’m there, especially the ghosts

As someone who did skip Volcano Manor through the quest line, not even realizing there was a proper legacy dungeon, I agree that putting the Serpent Hunter at the end would've been a great incentive, though I feel it wouldn't do anything to guide players like myself toward the existence of the dungeon. Perhaps a dev message in Rykard's room alluding to a weapon intended to kill him, hidden through a secret path in the Manor could've done the trick. They do have such dev messages in a couple of places, right outside the Gatefront Ruins for example, telling you to search underground so you find the Whetknife. After being let down by Raya Lucaria, Redmane Castle and Volcano Manor I was utterly shocked to find out I had simply missed the entire dungeon in the latters case.
All the main locations are so trolly... You can easily miss : - the basilisk at Stormveil - Raya Lucaria rooftops - the entirety of Redmane Castle - the entirety of Volcano Manor - the very existence of the Subterranean Shunning Ground
