  • On February 8, 2016, Jeremy Runnells (previously interviewed on Mormon Stories) received notice from his stake president, Mark Ivins, that he would face excommunication (an LDS disciplinary council) on February 14, 2016 for publishing his "Letter to a CES Director."
"CES Letter" represents Jeremy's sincere attempts obtain answers to several questions/doubts he has had over the years regarding LDS church truth claims. Some of the topics dealt with in CES Letter include Joseph Smith's multiple and conflicting accounts of the first vision, Joseph Smith's polygamy (including to 14/15 year olds) and polyandry (marrying other men's wives), Book of Mormon historicity, Book of Abraham historicity, etc.
This press conference was held in support of Jeremy, detailing various problems with President Mark Ivins' handling of the process. The press conference was live-streamed with over 6,000 people viewing.
The morning after this press conference, Jeremy's disciplinary council was inexplicably postponed until late March, 2016 by Mark Ivins. This press conference was held at the Club/Cafe at 50 West in downtown Salt Lake City.

Do you think posting harmful information in a public forum about an organisation that you supposedly value, without being sure if the information is true or not, is a good approach or gentle? Then complaining because they organisation got upset at you for posting harmful information (reckons he was only seeking answers, pull the other one). I also want to know why he is surprised that he was called to a priesthood meeting to discuss his actions? Jeremy made promises or covenants in his LDS Temple and then broke those promises and got the consequences (reckons he left on his own accord, right mate, like it wasn't coming). There is no surprise here unless he really didn't understand the LDS religion and what he was getting himself into when he did his endowment.

In 2011 I was in SLC, UT for a business convention. I went into a bar for a drink and the bartender had a black T-shirt that said “Ex-Mormon Drinking Club”. I had a great conversation with this young man!

Jeremy still wonders what the charge is...what did he do wrong? He didn't commit a grievous sin. My question to Jeremy is, "what does it matter?" Does a loss in faith precede the sin, or vice versa? Does that matter when there is supposed to be a savior of the world who would forgive either? What does holding a court have to do with Jesus Christ? It is a political action of men pretending to be authorized of God. The Good old Boys Club wants you out, then you're out. You are an amazing person Jeremy. Ignore the political b.s.

There is an old saying that one of my former bosses in the army always used to utter when approaching a thorny conundrum: "Roma locuta est. Causa et finita!" This means simply, Rome has spoken, the cause is finished. Here in Utah we say, "the brethren have spoken, there is to be no more thinking or discussion on the matter". It is my observation that the official church here in Utah is not unlike being smothered in marshmallows, or being drowned in a vat of Jello. It can start out to be a "sweet" experience, but in the end, like all cults, it becomes stultifying.

In relation to the Church wanting local leaders to hold the Church Courts and be responsible for excommunication(s) might be the legal implications that can be taken against professional Church dignitaries (insofar as they are salaried) and Lay Church Leaders. I researched most of these things and KNOW that the church has conned us. They are anti-nonmormons! How I wish I hadn't wasted years of my life with con artists. Hopefully, as time goes on more and more of the young will do the research and walk out on Mormonism. There are other churches and religions that are much more honest with people.

I agree. People are waking up to the racist and sexist past. The LDS church is changing things now in their Endowment Ceremony to be more appealing to feminists and women in general. The temple used to tell the woman to hearken to the man as he hearkens to god and now the woman can just hearken to god. They also now allow people to be married in the temple right after a civil marriage. They also changed the policy of not allowing kids of LGBTQ parents to be baptized. They are obviously losing members and trying to show they are appealing to feminists, LGBTQ, and people who get legally married first.

One of your videos mentions the Muslim faith. I'm curious as to why one would believe Joseph Smith with his revelations over Muhammad who also claims to have received revelations from God. I realize there are some translation errors in the Bible but don't Mormons claim to use the Bible (as long as it doesn't contradict the Book of Mormon). I'm also curious as to what Mormons teach as the gospel. I'm glad you were able to make the break from Mormonism. I will pray that you will soon begin your search for the truth.

I started meditating and believing in multiple lives reincarnation many worlds, Heaven is so vast no need for Temples to do nonbelievers Temple work when we are all connected to the God of all creation and all living life on the earth, we keep coming back to earth or other planets to learn and grow our spirit selfs within a physical body wevwill come down as male and or female depending on what we want to experience sharing learning abd griwing together with each other we earn colors for our auric fields based on competition of our growth and development. Back to the Church If there were ever the Golden Plates there would be no reason for the church to hide them from the public its so silly if you actually have any intelligence. I wanted to create myself a license plate holder that said "SHOW ME THE PLATES" but didnt! My family says even the Elite will be deceived looking at me I say no the Elite wake up and move on 😂

If you feel that strongly about the churches teaching just keep quiet until you find another church where you can worship. In the rest of the world no one really cares about the Mormon church unless there is something illegal. Excommunication is just not a big deal. Your local news should cover this but national news only covers things of interest to the whole country. Most people just think it’s just those crazy Mormons. Maybe you could do a show on why excommunication is so hard for church members.

+Caleb pretty sick how LDS people operate on lie's. Think if your were LDS and told a friend they know something but are actually completely lying to them. Pretty sick, ENRON said they have done nothing wrong lol. THE LDS SUPPORTERS REMIND ME OF SAME PEOPLE CLAIMING ENRON IS GOING TO PAY DIVIDENDS AND EVEN WENT ON CNBC. TRUTH THEY CLOSED THIER DOORS HOW SAD

@@iamthegreatcornholio7836 I have a question for you, then.
Just to give you a little bit of my own background, I recently had the honor of meeting with 4-6 very sincere young Mormon Missionaries for a few weeks.
I was, I admit, surprised at some of the rules. Like, when I wanted to share some of my favorite hymns with them, it was not allowed.
Similarly, it seems like they are not allowed even to contact friends or family except once a week. I literally knew someone in prison with more freedom, lol. The LDS church must not believe that these young men have the Holy Spirit, because we know from the Bible that "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom" rather than regulations.
So, for you yourself, why do you think the LDS church might want to prohibit free research and extra knowledge? I myself would always welcome scrutiny.

@@ButterflyRebekah imo the lds church is a fraud and needs to propogate its lie. they don't want members questioning things; just to be obedient and the church maintains control.
