Maybe some people will get to realise from this that Jan Hammer is WAY more than Miami Vice.
The master of pitch bend, he is one of the most underrated keyboard players on the planet.
Yeah. There is a mahavishnu live version of Sister Andrea online. Bad quality but his solo at the end is monster. He is one of the fusion greats let that be clear.
He is so master of pitch bend that I thought he was the second guitarist in Tour de Force. I mean it. I thought a midi guitar or something like that
@@MarcoServadei LOL I heard Tour de Force when I was just starting guitar, and I kept wondering how they got such a cool guitar tone! I didn’t even know you could play a synth like that!
I don't know if he's underrated, but he may be somewhat lesser known to the public than some. I first heard him on the classic Jeff Beck stuff, and have been a fan ever since.
@@keithwald5349 Yeah, his stuff with Mahavishnu Orchestra is also awesome.
Anthony Jackson´s bass, Steve Gadd´drums, Jan Hammer´s keyboard and Al Di Meola´s guitar, play a good jazz-rock performance.
Like those guys may have a future😂😂
I don't know about the others but I think this is about as good as it gets.
I like Aldimeola from this period the most.
In my opinion an absolutely jazzrock masterpiece song!!!!!!! It grooves and grooves and grooves!!!!!!! Wonderfull!!!!!!!
The closest Al ever got to playing rock. Look how happy he is. Great tune.
I saw Al D in Central Park [NYC] in 1980; at the end, the guys actually broke out into an instrumental version of Jumping Jack Flash.....!!
I kid thee not
brainsareus I’ve played JJF at The Whiskey.
any more footage of Electric Rendezvous tour ???
brainsareus there’s footage of him from 1980 here on RUclips and he plays JJF at the end. I guess it was common in his set lists that year.
Love Jan hammer and I am a huge Al dimeola fan! But man…..that rhythm section…..steve gadd and Anthony Jackson….shit…..unreal!😊
UNCLE~MR.AL DI MEOLA ALONG WITH UNCLE~MR.MICHAEL SCHENKER WERE SIMULTANEOUSLY MY VERY FIRST TWO GUITAR HEROE'S...
THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS VIDEO.. I HAVE REPEATEDLY REPEATEDLY REPEATEDLY REPEATEDLY REPEATEDLY REPEATEDLY REPEATEDLY REPEATEDLY REPEATEDLY REPEATEDLY REPEATEDLY REPEATEDLY REPEATEDLY WATCHED THIS VIDEO...
Incredible performance!!!
I love this song
Fantastic to find this March 2023... I learned this on keys/synth back when it was released - Man, how time goes by. Thanks Jan, Al, Steve, Anthony for great music and a big influence on my song writing. Cheers from Seattle! 🍻 Alex
what a fuckin sens of the melody !!!!!! Jan thanks so much to share....i need no much that music feeling in my life just right now.....
Can´t get better than this... love it!!!
I was at the " Tour de Force" live show recorded at the Tower Theater, Philadelphia March ,1983! Fantastic!
I was at that Tower show too in front row. I’ll never forget the incredible musicianship
@@bluebird140 I was there too .. it had been postponed from an earlier date because of snow -- I remember my parents taking us all the way to Philly only to be told the show was postponed .. Anyways, when we finally were able to go, it was the best
So was I.
Jan Hammer is amazing on keyboards, and also how many incredible guitarists he has played with:
Al Di Meola
John Mclaughlin
Neal Schon
Jeff Beck
Tommy Bolin
Carlos Santana
What a line-up. 🕉
I had hoped there was video of Al with Gadd out there!!👍. Steve’s playing on Casino and Elegant Gypsy is some of the most unique fusion drumming ever!!
I believe this is the guitar on the cover of Casino. A 1976 converted Les Paul Deluxe if I'm not mistaken.
Hey, I saw that bass player with Hiromi! He's one hell of a bass player.
Man, this music is hard to play, hard to bring off. And he's just better than the record, sweet as you please. Long live The King.
This is amazing, love Jan Hammer!
Saw Al yesterday at Pori Jazz 2024, the magic is there!
I had no idea this was available on DVD.I used to see the occasional video on a TV video 1 channel from time to time...love AlDi.
Good performance thank you
Very well done I wet to tour they played the tower theater. In the 80''it was a great pear of musicians works together I had a ball climb the huge Piller where we were. very well
My dad was jazzafist progressive jazz so I understand there music it will tell you a story
Bought this album when it came out, LOVED this tune of course, Randy and Steve are so freaking rock solid and Jan just CRUSHES IT! (IMHO)
I was at the Philly show which became the "Tour Dr Force" live album at the Tower Theater, 1983.
Jan had some equipment problems during his solo/ band intro set. However, always great to see Jan live with WHOEVER!
Hi, to my ears this is - note for note - the Tour De Force LP version, including the clapping and Hammer solo. to be sure, I'll head to my Vinyl
Apparently they got sorted because Jan's work here is absolutely stelllar.
Yep Me Too. Epic Concert...
@@DrumSolVanIsle it is not 😉
Jannick Hammer. Still one of the best keyboardists on the planet.
Esecuzione da Oscar, i Grandi della Musica che band non ha eguali.👏👏👏🥇🥇🥇uno dei migliori brani di Meola.
I was at the Philadelphia regional show ,Tower theater
Upper Darby, Pa
Al's Tour de Force live was recorded at the Tower 1982
All these years what a gift to us
I love when Al gets the crowd clapping. The best. Grooviness of a high order. ✌️🎸✌️😎✌️
I love this music
Too good!! More from this concert puuuhhhlleassseeeeee!!!
Wish al would do more rock !!
It was called Jazz\Rock Fusion....compared to what Jazz was then, this IS ROCK.
Wow what a great band!
I miss the Powell Probe. I only saw Jan and Roger use it.
I'd also kill for this WHOLE concert in this quality. Someone release it on dvd! I know there are at least three more tunes but the whole night must have been filmed. What a band.
Jan Hammer and Mahavishnu - concerts were
mind blowing. 👍👀💥🎹
Lo máximo...
I'm in the process of learning this, on guitar
I had a couple of opportunities to jam with Mingo Lewis the percussionist. Great player, of Santana, and fun guy.
Who listen 🎶 in 2020?! Thank you!😍
2022 summer, awesome!
Jan’s playing in Elegant Gypsy Suite on this tour. Brilliant.
Thank you Jan for giving us 2 videos of this wonderful concert from your own archives. Is there a reason that the band members involved have not come up with a way to make this entire concert available for purchase? The concert is registered with the Library Of Congress but is locked from public viewing without permission of the owner.
Svaka čast👍
Agh yes Jan Hammer the sound innovator.
STEVE GADD... THE DRUMS MESSIAH!!!
Due exaterrestri..vedervi suonare insieme è una meraviglia.
💞💞💞💞💞
I
That Gadd and Anthony Jackson?
2:11 is this Al indicating to Mingo his displeasure with the wild conga fill he'd just played?
I don't think so... the live album version (recorded at a Philadephia venue) has stronger conga fills than that, and way more noticeable, surely due to the miking/mixing.
Mingoooooooooo !
💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
GODS ARE HERE !!!!
ZO GOOD
superband. My student play this song in a ensamble
Teď skoro čtyři mega
Sorry, I meant Anthony (Jackson)
🔥Keytar God
Al these musicians are so good. But I need to name Steve Gadd & and Jan hammer and Anthony and frankly al is the week part of the chain
Noice.
Not as rockin' as the Mahavishnu Orchestra's live Cruisin' version where Al just totally rips it apart, but great nonetheless. Maybe cutting off the ponytail had something to do with it!😎
Skvělá muzika ale největší hity od Jana Hammera jsou stejně v pohádce Šíleně smutná princezna.
Talk about a repetitious song. I expected more from two legends.
If your at all familiar with di Meola’s music and many many albums you’ll know this is the only song that could be considered “repetitive”....it’s plenty safe to keep your expectations high when it comes to di Meola, or Jan
All good except the cameraman sucked! Not focusing on Al.
The usual opinion from a guitar player. Go play at your local bar.
Brain, I understand your plight bro but it's An ALL STAR BAND !
Music strong! Not like hairline
Steve Gadd doing nothing as usual. Al practicing the two scales he knows. This goes nowhere.
And you can do better ?
We have a Guitar Hero hero here!
