- Howard Keel first stepped out onto a London stage in 1947. 40 years later he returned to Great Britain for a hugely successful series of concert tours. Here he is appearing on "The Bruce Forsyth Show" in 1992 singing "I Won't Send Roses" from the musical Mack and Mabel.
Great singing by a great singer. Too bad he's not amongst us any more. He was one of the greats...

Oh my god so beautiful. I love Howard keel. Was lucky enough to see him in a production of Man of La mancha. And met him afterwards. What a gorgeous hunk of man so nice so talented so missed
I hope Jerry Herman had a chance to hear Howard Keel sing this song. What a beautiful rendition. I appreciate it that Keel chose to do the song with the original show arrangement.

@1BlackGold1 I have, he was brilliant, a gentleman throughout, even when people continued to take photo's AFTER he had given everyone a photo op. He mildly rebuked them, & one of the people taking the photo's applauded! His voice was still worth listening to, knew his limitations compared to his younger days, but still a great nights entertainment.

^To add to that, the song was written for the musical "Mack and Mabel", which originally starred Robert Preston (of "The Music Man" fame). So, yes, it's originally a bass-baritone song.

I'm sorry, I think Keel was wonderful BUT the absolutely best version of this song in on the OCR of "Mack and Mabel" by Preston. Hands down, the only acceptable version of this song is by Robert Preston.
